Aminu is no where near what those guys did.....
that cap relief we gave them was HUGE.
saved them $40m in one year, so people don't put that in to consideration, they didn't take Curry's contract, Wolves did....
no matter how you look at it, we should at least have Chandler back, or picks and Mosgov....
In hindsight, one of the biggest recent blunders was resigning Billups for 14+ million this summer.
It was obvious to me that CB wasn't fast enough in MDAs offense. I think that we could have
easily turned that money into a guy like Sessions who would be a great fit in this system IMHO
and then be sitting pretty in this free agency period. Don't get me wrong...I'm thrilled how it's worked out with Tyson, but our bench would look alot different right now if we didn't choose to resign Billups.
But then again, who knew about the amnesty clause last June?

That certainly sounds better than saying that you went to the team just because they gave you the most money
knicks1248 wrote:Melo is an attraction....tyson said if melo and Amare were not here he would have never came...gallo and chandler were not attracting anyone
Somebody, PLEASE say this again!!
Let's see what Melo does this season. We would have had the room to trade for chandler outright. Amare and Fields suffered after the trade.
Felton/Douglas
Fields/Iman
Gallo/Shawn Williams
Amare/AR
Chandler/Moz/Turiaf
That's a much more balanced team with a a lot of size and it keeps the team fresh for the playoffs.

Yes, much more balanced. But in the playoffs, with a series on the line, the Knicks were perpetually on the losing side because they lacked a finisher like Melo. I am not a Melo fanboy, but I see the value in having a guy who can take over a game in the fourth quarter and grab a win from the clutches of defeat.

Waiting to see what Melo does this year is the most reasonable assessment. Only a partisan fan would declare either team the definite victor of the trade at this point.

Yea....who needs Melo, right?
its more like, we really got lucky we got Tyson Chandler.
all the above had to fall in place, before we got Melo.
if it wasn't for the amnesty clause, what do you think our year would look like?
That's correct. We got Chandler *in spite of* not because of having to take Chauncey back in the Melo trade. This thread is misguided.

for
Melo, Amare and Chandler
Don't forgot John Starks, Chris Mills and Terry Cummings

Don't ruin the buzz. Dudes running around pounding their chest claiming Dolan made the Nuggs his trade BITCH is way too good to reduce.
Some how the Nuggs exodus to china some how enhances our trade value?
The failure of one does not enhance the success of another.

you know, in light of what the Clippers and the Nets had to give up for their stars, i think the Knicks package was a relative bargain.

Those two are flawless PGs. There's no point in comparing what we gave up for Carmelo with what other teams gave up for true superstars.

flawless PG's??? dude, for someone who bends over backwards to emphasize the Knicks' flaws, i'm sure you can come up with a flaw for each of those PG's.

They are at the top of their posiiton. But CP3 has had knee surgery, I think that might be a bit of a chink in his armor. Deron Williams isn't the most defensive minded PG in the league. No one is flawless.
exactly, Paul has major injury concerns and Deron managed to run a hall-of-fame coach out of Utah before souring all of his relationships so much that the team swiftly shipped him out. injury problems for a apeedy guard and attitude problems for your team's general are serious flaws that i'm surprised someone with bonn's astute observational skills would miss.

Ask for clarification before you accuse someone of being wrong or not astute. All I meant was that unlike Carmelo, they do not have any major flaws in their on-the-court performance.

Melo is the best mid range shooter in basketball, best rebounding SF in basketball and makes Lerbon his bitch when they play head up. I'm willing to give the guy more time in a Knicks uniform but was pretty damn happy with 42% from 3 land.

Nothing you say will make him think Carmelo is any better than Tim Thomas, so don't bother.

The reasoning in Cash's post is too bad to even bother replying. And anyway, Melo's better than Tim Thomas but not Keith Van Horn
