bernard wrote:What are reasonable goals from this game? Obviously, with compressed pre-season and all the new faces, every opportunity to compete before it counts is crucial. Here's what I want to see tonight:
* Starting back court getting their sh** together. They need minutes with the starters and need to get their feet under them
* Some semblance of a rotation starting to come together. We need the second unit to be defined and to log some minutes and to learn their roles
* Melo as point forward -- everyone getting used to the sets, getting into the sets early in the shot clock
* Defensive cohesion starting to come together. I want to see the team taking advantage of Chandler by getting up on their guys and funnelling driving players toward the help
A lot to ask for, but I didn't see much of any of that in game 1, and the sooner we get it together, the fewer ugly early season losses.
bernard - we feel your passion but what was formerly known as pre season will last the entire month of January.
- Starting back court will not be resolved until late February
- Auditions for the second unit will last for another 2-3 weeks.
- Everyone getting used to the sets under game conditions will last until March
- Defensive cohesion? See above. ETA March.

GO KNICKS!
Shump picks Deron twice in the same quarter this time [two sick dunks this time, one gets him a T when he leaves the rim and hangs off the top of the backboard]
Knicks by 20.
DHoward starts wondering about the brilliance of spending a huge portion of his career on the Brooklyn Borshts
I'd LOVE to see that happen; it would make my night! I heard Shump's interview yesterday and he's been practicing lobs, so he will be ready to contribute to this team becoming "Lob City East", and is good enough to start (at the 1 or 2) soon.
Dwight Howard should already see that he's closer to going (back) to the Finals with is Orlando team than starting over in NJ/Brooklyn, and playing in that DooDoo-tinted Barclays Center. (The building is literally DooDoo brown, which is descriptive of that team in general. A Doodoo team belongs in a DooDoo building.)
LMMFAO @ "Brooklyn Borshts"...
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, and can't believe that the damn Nyets are polluting my borough. I walked past that abomination and spit on it. lol
DWill would be better off signing with Orlando as a free agent next summer. That way he gets to play alongside Dwight, and be in a MUCH better situation where they can compete or a title faster.
Shump should be the one GETTING the lobs! Been to long dude.. need to grab a pint and a puff around town soon
This is the most excited I've been for a preseason game in a long time.
Missed Game 1 vs. the Nets. Did anyone find a site with a good stream? Otherwise I'll hope http://www.finalball.com has one up.
Papabear Says
I have not been doing much writing on the forum because there wasn't much for me to say. Everyone was saying what I was thinking. I'm getting excited again but I am being very very careful not to jump for joy too soon.
Nice pass inside from Toney.
