Knicks · Amare linked to Orlando? (page 1)

colombian0725 @ 1/10/2012 4:08 AM
Just something to take with a grain of salt... I like our team right now. But Amare for Howard you gotta make the trade. If they are interested and if we are. Melo/Shumpet/Chandler are untouchable. If Magic are willing to move Howard and want shumpert no thanks... We are a better team with shumpert. If we trade Amare I would say it's a slap in the face. I like Amare but Howard is tempting. As long as we don't move Shumpert.

It has been talked about for sure. You know the front office has to be wondering. But, as others have said, perhaps Howard isn't the best option for us. He doesn't even have NY on his list of 3 teams, but NJ?!

I think it would take a falling out with Amare or something along those lines. I doubt Orlando just takes Amare straight. I almost think we would have to include a younger guy or picks from trading Chandler (or include Chandler). Even then you have to consider it.

Now "something along those lines" could be us not playing well for the next two months or so. Then that March date regarding Chandler is our out of sorts. If we included Chandler then we have to get someone at the PF coming back - unless Jorts starts playing at Amare's level. ehehe You clearly don't trade Stat now, but if we are still not playing together well and his D still is bad. Then you have to throw loyalty out and do what is best for the fans and franchise.

MarburyAnd1Crossover @ 1/10/2012 7:05 AM
You have to do that trade no matter what happens.

Think back to 1996, it's like having a shot at Shaq. You trade Ewing for Shaq if you can do it.

You trade Amar'e for Howard if you can do it and never look back.

This is business, there are no feelings. There is no crying in baseball.

Media brings it up cuz he is from Florida but article brings up his contract not being insured.

Orlando would want more than Amare. Makes for good reading but not logical.

Amare and Tyson for Howard and TurkeyGlue?

Pound for pound Howard is a nice upgrade over Tyson but Hedo is a big loss compared to Amare.

Im not sure that trade makes us better.

Howard is in the zone of LeBron, Amar'e is not in the same zone.

Hedo can dish the rock, perfect for New York, he can thread the needle and make it rain.

Howard is overrated and I personally hopes he rots in Orlando this year goes out West next year. We don't need him!

This is Shaq-Howard comparison up to 8th season in league. Shaq has him on points per game, but Howard's first two years were low scoring.

Dwights demands on Orlando made them make short term upgrades that have backfired on them Reminds me of the Ewing holding knicks hostage back in the day. Orlando is now depleated as a contender.

If Dwight is serious, he has to go free agent not in a trade. A trade depletes who he goes to.

I'd like to see him in Brooklyn. Sorry Net Haters, I'd like a strong rivalry. Brings the best out of both teams!

This is how Melo depleted the Knicks.

If we did it once, let's do it again! For Howard, it would not be so bad; I don't think Amar'e and Tyson is too much to give.

colombian0725 @ 1/10/2012 8:48 AM
As long as We keep Shumpert and Melo. We can move Amare. But I don't want turk.
MS @ 1/10/2012 8:52 AM
You give up any two guys on this team for Dwight. He is head and shoulders above our guys. His defensive impact alone transforms an average team into a top 4 team. Orlando has a couple of nice little pieces, but they are not going to take Amare in a deal. This is a guy you gut your team for not Carmelo. Howard is a top 5 player not a top 12.

Words to Wordsworth.

There is a slight but significant difference between top 5 and top 12, and this is the reason why depleting for a top 5 is worth it while it is not for a top 12.

You're starting a team today, can pick any player as your big rock, you have two choices: LeBron and Howard. Everyone else is a second pick.

CHANDLER is gone in any move for Howard. You think they will move a franchise center without getting one of the best big available. I think someone said it here yesterday.....Amare and Chandler for Howard and Hedo and whatever filler is needed.

My fear of any trade involving a max guy is they will want Shump. I don't want to sound a ridiculous as the Gallo fan boys over valuing the kid but, I would like to see him stay and grow with the Knicks.

Shaq was a far superior player. Who in the hell does Dwight Howard play against at C? No one, he is the only true big man in the game right now. With this being the case the guy should be dropping 30 a game.

STAT and Chandler for Howard is not too much??? This team is better with STAT and Chandler then it would be with Howard.

If we have to part of Shumpert than I can live without Howard... If we can keep Shumpert than you make the trade. If they won't do the deal without shumpert than oh well. Seriously if we get howard and trade shumpert in the process Ill be pissed the fuck off

Howard is a "Nice" upgrade over Tyson? Really? You can't be serious. He is leaps and bounds better than chandler (and I love Tyson)

Howard feels filthy down there, his mind is not right. He comes here, got the lights, got the good smells, he will be motivated and start tearing new ones in the league.

14 boards a game and 20 points? Swatting shots like he's Manute Bol? You take that. Especially because you don't know what's going on with Amar'e and his knees, his eyeballs. Plus Hedo is a perfect Four for the Knicks. He's got laser vision.

CashMoney wrote:STAT and Chandler for Howard is not too much??? This team is better with STAT and Chandler then it would be with Howard.

No way. Howard clogs it up like Amar'e can't even dream of. In Amar'e's wildest dreams and nightmares, he cannot clog it like D-Howard.

Compared to Howard, Amar'e is a perimeter player.

GustavBahler @ 1/10/2012 9:21 AM
If the Knicks were exploring trade options involving Amare, I hope Kevin Love is on the list of potential players. A front court of Chandler and Love would dominate the paint against most teams. Love has the inside game that Stat doesn't and can shoot the three. Melo/Love would be a dangerous inside/outside combination.

Love could post up with Chandler patrolling the paint for any possible put backs. His D still needs improvement but its not like we would be giving up defense if Stat were traded. Rubio and Stat on the same squad might interest Khan.

I'd love to see Howard join the Knicks but I get the feeling that they would ask more than the Knicks can afford to give up for a title run in the next few years.
