Knicks · Amare linked to Orlando? (page 6)

You add Amare, Tyson, Shump, and a "competent" PG (no one's mentioned including Melo with Amare in a trade) to that NBDL roster in Orlando and you think they're winning 59 games like they have with Dwight? That roster here on the Knicks doesn't look like a 59 win team. The roster they have now is not the roster that won 59 games. Also the east they played in to win 59 games is not the same east now. How did Orlando fair last year?
52 wins, which would be considered a down year for Dwight. (I envy the days where 52 wins was a down year!)
Howard-Melo-Shumpert for 10yrs the other pieces can be retooled.
Howard is going to hit a time frame when he starts dominating championships or going to every other one fighting off Lebron. We can either be apart of that or be on the sideline watching.
newyorknewyork wrote:Howard baring a catastrophic injury is a sure thing for the next 10yrs. Neither Chandler or Amare are sure things for the next 10yrs.Howard-Melo-Shumpert for 10yrs the other pieces can be retooled.

I am praying to G-- New York is doing everything it can to bring Howard here.
Tyson Chandler
Amare
they seem to both have taken on the leadership with Melo. Especially for Tyson Chandler, I have always liked him and felt he was been under valued/rated for majority of his career.
Its not surprising to me that he can score, however, it is surprising that he is doing it with a "great" PnR PG. He has a great effect on Iman and has a lot of respect from the coaching staff, players, and the rest of our league.
As great as Dwight Howard is, I am not sure if he mentally has the ability to be the leadership skills, communication, and basketball IQ that Chandler has.
If Dwight Howard is traded, its hard to imagine Orlando not trying to get rid of Turkeglu. Unless they are getting back a young player in their rookie contract with another 1-2 players. For example lets say
Westbrook
Ibaka
Perkins
or
Curry or Monta
Wright or Klay Thompson
Biedrins
Brandon Rush
picks
or
Kevin Love
Darko
Anthony Randolph

Boris Diaw in all other games (2pts, 10pts, 5pts, 0pts)Again you build a team the right way. You do it with defense and mismatches. Tyson Chandler is an average big man, with average numbers and limited offensive skill. He's not effective when he has to play help defense.
And before someone tells me that the numbers above are greater so are the number of chandler, gallo, felton, moz, ar, first round picks and cash for a guy that is supposed to be elite. So elite that this team has lost to the warriors with curry, the lakers without bynum, blown out by the bobcats, embarrassed by the raptors, needs a 3 pointer with time running down vs the worst team in the league and barely beats the bobcats at home in a rematch. The Knicks were gifted a schedule. If you have two superstars you should be a lot better than 5-4 especially if you just signed an elite big man.
Yes, watching Amare being toasted by Diaw, twice is not acceptable. This is the reason why I proposed the Ray Allen/KG trade for Amare and TD, Fields, and Jorts.
I was actually quite surprised by the response I got. Like the deal we gave up for Carmelo Anthony was crazy and this deal I am talking about, would give us the ability to sign Dwight Howard, assuming he isn't traded. We wouldn't trade till the final hours at the deadline anyway. KG + Tyson Chandler is a great tandem + Ray Allen is shooting the lights out this year. Most importantly, going this route, we don't have to add Turkeglu's contract. Although they are old, they are respectively one of the top players in their positions. They are both UFA in the end of the season. Its possible we can resign one of them at a discount to pair up with Dwight Howard or Deron Williams...
In fact, if we do the trade with Boston, then trade Chandler to a team under the cap, we can gain an exemption to use.

Deron Williams

Dwight Howard
If KG and Ray Allen resigns at a discount, we would be the favorites by far to win it all with that squad. And this would make us contenders, with some youth for the next decade.
Or if Carmelo is willing to restructure his deal, making a little less but resigning another 5 year deal and If Dwight Howard is willing to take slightly less to pair up with KG/Ray Allen, I am pretty sure his New York impact would earn him a lot of extra $ in commercials/sneaker deals.
Ryan Anderson is another nice sleeper pick to pair up with Dwight Howard, with next year being his qualifying offer. I am not sure if Tyson Chandler would work with Dwight Howard but, his contract is only 3 more years after this year. He is having his best year so far and should be very tradeable to many teams, possibly even back to Dallas, if they miss out on Deron/Dwight. Regardless, TC is an asset, that has good trade value. A center of his caliber that emphasizes defense, team play, leadership, and communication is worth every penny for 3 years at his age. He is easily one of the best defensive centers after Dwight Howard, Chandler is probably 2nd.

Something interesting last night was AR at the Center position for the Wolves scoring 16pts off the bench. We really emptied the House out for this team. I still like the flexibility of having (Gallo, Moz, Felton, Chandler, AR, picks). You need an all world talent that gets you 50+ wins in moves like that.
Dwight Howard is that talent.

he would realize we don't have the pieces to get it done. Lakers can field a better officer, Warriors can field a better offer...hell a shyt load of teams have more to offer.
the uninsured nature of Amare's knees kills any chance for Howard. You think they are in a tight spot now, if they made that deal and Amare suffered an injury, their fans would boycott. It defies logic and is not happening.
Shumpert may end up being great, I hope he does but why would you give up an all star and a championship winning center for Dwight Howard? It just doesn't make sense, we should keep Chandler and then trade him to obtain complimentary pieces we would lose acquiring Dwight. I would not do the two of them for DH. We would be too heavily reliant on Melo for offense.
But from a lOng term perspective DH makes more sense so that's what makes this a tough decision.

Word. Not even close on this one. Forget this starphuck and let's roll with our current team.

I agree with that for the short term, in the long term the reverse may be true. People are pumped up for this season, so it's hard to switch back to we will be great in 2-3 years mode but DH will probably outlast both those guys in terms of effectiveness.
I do t think the trade will be so outlandish the ORL wouldn't look at it. They woul get a very good Center back and a risky but highly talented player while also dumping Hedo. That is why I still wouldn't do it.

That is what I was saying earlier. It would be between the knicks and Lakers. But I think the Lakers have better pieces
