Papabear Says
I think that this can work. They will have a very good power forward for years to come and we will get williams who just might not resign with us and we know he won't resign with the Nets.
I wonder if the knicks could trade for Devin Harris. He's off to a slow start, but he could come in here and be a big point guard next to Shump.
Harris could average 15 and 7 for this team with good D.
Unless Dwight Howard is traded and/or signs an extension, I don't think the Nets would take risk losing Williams.
He is the only player that can attract Dwight Howard over in FA...
Will be interesting if Brook Lopez will be part of their future, as both players are not good rebounders/defenders...
I thought KG/Ray Allen was our best chances, only because of the way Boston can struggle and with questions with their age...
if it takes Amare's contract off our hands, why not? maybe we can take on Okur, too?
DWill
Shumpert
Melo
Okur
Chandler
DWill wouldn't really have a reason to leave. That team is legit.
Nets arent doing us any favors for 80 million in uninsured contract.
With that said I think we can get a young PG and other players.
Its apparent Amare needs a PG to facilitate by now.
Boston at least has Rhondo, if Nets lost Deron for Amare, they need another PG.
They also lose the player that can attract Dwight Howard over...
With that said, they still probably can't afford to lose Deron for nothing though.
I just don't see them making this move unless Dwight Howard signs an extension with a team...
That's it for me. I'm done with this forum for a while. This forum used to be GREAT. Not just good, but GREAT. There was very astute posting and observations. Now it's posts full of Fantasy League proposals, wild exaggeration and premature overreactions. There's no real debate or conversation. It's sad really. I need a break from this crap.

Our team has sucked for a decade. If you take away fantasy, we have nothing but despair.

Dude Amare can't defend or rebound... no point guard or coach in the league will cure that... Now as far as his offense. He drives like he thinks he's a small foward but is so clumsy and isn't blowing past guys.
I don't think the Nets do that deal. I might inquire about Farmar or Gaines as both guys could do a reasonable job playing the point for the Knicks.

Let's all just chill the bottles. Baron is around the corner, things can heat up.
It's been a rough decade on everyone.

Three more games and traditionally in NY D'Antoni's teams hit their stride. It might take longer without a training camp but better days are ahead. However, its probably not a bad idea to go away until after the Magic game after all, 'Their the Magic'.

For the first half of last year, he looked like an MVP candidate. Since then, he has looked like a Shareef Abdur-Rahim.

Seriously. All you guys need to jump off the kool aid. Great players find ways to play great. He hasn't looked good since the 2nd half of the year and he looks worst this year. He can't create for him self and doesn't make his team mates better. He is turn over prone and clumsy with the ball. He is the worst defender on this roster. He isn't even our best rebounder. He isn't the same player he was last season. He is getting rejected alot more. He is a step slower.

I kinda agree. I live and die in every game like most fans here, but you still have to realize we are far from a finished product. This is Stoudemire's second season in NY. We still haven't had a ful season of Melo. Tyson Chandler just got here. The rest, mostly, either just arrived or have suffered from the heavy player shuffle. Shump and Jorts are rookies. Baron hasn't even made his debut! All in a shortened season with no real time for practice and a team that is still learning the playbook.
Guys, lets try to be fair. Please.
The Knicks have shown their potential to be a contending team in some nights. They have missed key players because of injuries, and take into account that most active roster is significant in a short season. If you thought we were going to storm the league from the get go, you just got your hopes to high, and that's your problem. The fact is the Knicks will probably come close to their potential, if they get healthy and stay that way, at the end of the season.
If you can't handle the bumps now when we actually have an exciting and promising roster, you can just tune out. But it seems like we are always on the brink: one night we beat the Sixers and can win a championship, the next we lose to the Grizzlies and we have to trade Amar'e. No more trades. That is exactly what this team needs:
Time
Let them get healthy. Give Mike D his final chance to prove his worth. If he fails, he will surely be fired, so he should get his last chance. This team, healthy, is nowhere close to what it showed tonight. But the path to such stability is long and bumpy. In for the ride? Then take the hits like a man, I mean, fan!
I think the Amare for Dwill might be possible. Maybe the nets consider it because Amare helped us become a good team and is a marketable guy. Everyone in New York loves him. He made the knicks relevant. He would sell tickets in Brooklyn. Dwill won't stay with the nets. Dwill will play with superstar like melo. We would have a real point guard. Win win lol.

Its interesting to think about which franchise took the bigger risk in acquiring their superstar. Deron may walk away from the Nets but the Knicks signed Amare with an uninsured contract. I think the biggest difference is Amare wants to be in NY and his character and tenacity carried the Knicks to the playoffs last year. Deron isn't doing anything like that in NJ.
UNFORTUNATELY the melo trade put us in this position, but I like amare, and if we had to move him, I think Houston would be a good trading partner... amare for kevin martin, Jordan hill. Yes jordan hill and terrance williams...
T will can play some point, and SG..
Martin will be that elite shooter we need and he would fit well with melo
jordan hill and chandler can do the dirty work in the frontcourt....
this would be a way to balance this team, even if we are giving up the most talent... we get talent back and a way to balance this team..

where have they done that? and even then, is that good enough.. you need to show that consistently.. a lot of teams can look like contenders.. "some nights".. I am sorry, people are upset, they have the right to be, we gave up and paid a lot for this team, and so far it is a train wreck...

I like the idea of trading with Houston and bringing Hill back but I would really want Buddinger in that deal. I think he would make a couple of all star teams playing for D'Antoni. I would include Shumpert, Douglas, Fields, Jorts, Jordan whatever it took to include Chase. Also, whenever I get to see Houston, Hill has looked good.
