Knicks · Tyson Talk....... (page 1)

I like the guy. He got grit, intensity and seems to care.

Good locker room presence, vocal leader on defense, allows us to not have to double team in some situations. Keeps his fouls in check.

He has no real post move and can't hit a 12-15 foot jumper shot and this is a big problem.

I thought Moz was a POTENTIAL great fit for the knicks cuz the kid could hit that outside shot. Teams give it, he took it, and Amare was able to roam free. Rony had a decent mid range also.

MDA plays a Euro style ball and the bigs need to be able to shoot. Everyone shoots.

Amare is not shooting well from the outside.

Now we got two players on the floor who are not effective to open things up.

Where is the "Extra E" corner shot coming from? Shy Wilson? Gallo? Shawne? JJ? Last year we had guys camped out in the corner with free looks. Fields is simply not knocking it down. Bibby could have a good time in the corner but he is not getting the time as he is hurt/not executing. TD is also not getting his shot down recovering from surgery.

The only one playing in the system and thriving is freaking "Jorts"!

If we let the game come to Melo he would kill it. But with Tyson not able to pop out and hit a 12 footer Amare can't be our first option. The ball stops with Melo and his baskets don't come easy.

We have a team built wrong or is not executing. Fields has to step it up, and in the system Amare has to hit those open shots.

Tyson brings Defense but brings imbalance to the offense. If his man is leaving him to double on Amare he is too close to the basket, and if he pops out 12 feet and is wide open, he won't take it, he passes it. Teams will give us that. It slows it down.

Im not suggesting we fire the coach or rabid trade fantasy fixes. Im not sure what our coaching staff is doing to adjust but one thing is for sure, we are not executing what teams give us in the mid range. When that happens, we are forced to go to the three.

Blame? ITs execution and the lack of quality role players.

Tyson is wrong for this offense if everyone else can't execute.

If he's wrong for this offense, he's right for this team.

He solves so many of the problems this team had last year.

Maybe when they did the trade for Chandler, they should have fired MDA right there.

And Jorts has been positive - and he should be getting 20 minutes every game. Because when he does, he produces.

Not huge numbers, but last night when Melo and Stat were combining to shoot 16%, did MDA ever think - maybe I should get my scrubs in there- maybe they will shoot 20%?

The fact is, this team sits and watches when our big guns are in. Miami, I think, went through the same thing.

And its why I'd put Stat on the bench, and have him be my 6th man.

Wake up the team, get them to move the ball. Send the message that you can't rely on the stars, that they have to help.

If I were coach, heck, I would bench Melo and Stat. Not to send a message to them, but to send a message to the team, that its on them to win.

Actually I think Ty is perfect for our intended setup. Problem is Amare and Melo meshing, underperforming vets (TD, Fields), and shoehorning guys out of position(TD, Fields, Shump, ).

Tyson is a great player, Knicks haven't had a center like him since the Camby days.

But he's unfortunate to come at a terrible time. His talents have been wasted.

The benefits of Chandler have shown to an extent, but will be more valuable late in the season. Stoudemire is a good enough shooter that once he regains his rhymth, they will fit fine along one-another.

I think Chandler is a perfect fit for this team. It would be nice of he could shoot a bit from the outside but I think when Baron starts running the show it won't matter much. I see a ton of alley oops to the big man in the future.

Chandler is a great fit for this and most teams. If the team continues to suck, Dantoni will be fired in short order. Rightfully.

Tyson is the reason Amare is taking a lot of perimeter shots. Tyson took Amare's spot in the offense in that he tries to run the PnR, because as Nalod said, Tyson can't hit a perimeter shot.

Amare is now playing The Mayors role in the offense. This should be good for him but he is just not hitting his shots. STAT can be the primary PnR big when Tyson is out. Knicks is running a play for STAT where he kinda runs a drag route on the top of the key after either a PnR is run or a first cutter clears the lane and STAT catches and takes a 15 footer. He keeps missing this shot and I think this is a very makeable shot for him. Very nice play.

I like Tyson. I think he is a good fit. His offensive rebounding skills is just amazing.

I like tyson a whole lot, his real worth will come playoff time when things slow down a lot..

The one thing i do agree with is that, this is tough for MDA who's system his design for perimeter players. Bdiddy will force fields to the bench and shrump to the 2g. I already know that Baron at 80% improves our offense 100x over..

Melo's problem is his horrid shot selection.

This is always for his career a problem. He's an inefficient scorer, always has been, but when he gets the Fire Hand, then all is well.

Well said

You guys are predicatable.

If Tyson is so great, why the problems?

Can anyone talk x's and o's around here?

We know the problems, but what does a new coach solve?

We know Amare and Melo are not playing well together, but why?

Tyson and Melo are actually playing well individually, but spacing is choking Amare.

A point guard will help, actually anyone who can hit a midrange shot will help!

So then go coach in Europe lol.

How about these players getting millions..learn how to shoot and space the floor...is that too much ask...I know u only get paid 400k game..but I don't think its too to ask for...

Have no complaints about Chandler, it was a good move. We needed interior defense in the worst way. When we hopefully have a better PG to run the
point Chandler's offense should improve somewhat. Chandler and Shumpert alone are probably why we have defensive efficiency rating which by outward appearances should be worse.

Because post play isn't Chandler's strong suit, we need to get someone who can score in the paint without PG help. If we trade Stat for anyone it should be for a low post scorer and rebounder. It will make it easier on the shooters. They need all the help they can get at this point.

I'm now sold on Tyson...The Knicks always as a team that got manhandled in the past by big front lines...Teams like Orlando and the Lakers always killed us with no effort...Tyson stood up to DHoward Mano y Mano...Moz could never bring you any presence like that...Tyson, tho limited offensively is a huge defensive factor and an active rebounder...Can get to the line and make his free throws...It's really insulting trying to compare Moz to him...I can understand the affinity for Moz as a project center but really guys...

Shooting requires skill. Not everyone has that ability. Asking every player on your roster to develop a jumpshot is the dumbest thing ever demanded by a head coach like Mike D'antoni.

Why not ask your guys to develop better defensive communication and instincts (which is more effort based, and not skill based), so that the whole team benefits?

Its simple. Melo is a black hole and everyone stands around watching him. Stat gets the ball in bad positions. We don't have any knock down shooters. This team needs a point guard.

Why are you not sold on Tyson? Didn't he prove enough at Dallas?
