I think it's coming. No need to freak out just yet. This was a game where MDA was trying to build confidence of the main guys in the rotation. There's a lot of season left for this kid to keep developing and have a nice gradual slide into a more meaningful role.

Michael6835 @ 1/31/2012 10:31 PM
in order for me to say Lin is the guy, i need to see him play meaningful minutes with the starters. I would give him a start to see what he has. That's a big move for MDA and that would be big for Lin. Talk about pressure. he looks good in spurts, but at times looks out of control. still a better "PG" than what we have.
gunsnewing @ 1/31/2012 10:46 PM
Bring Lin off the bench for now. Let him get accustomed to playing steady minutes first before throwing him out there after only having played garbage minutes so far. Get him ready for when Baron needs to rest his sore back later in the year.

If shump stays healthy & plays like he did today passing, picking his spot shooting & great D he can hold the fort until Baron comes back and is ready to start.

Make TD your backup SG for now until Baron returns and then Shump becomes backup SG, Lin backup PG.

I think mda waited a bit too long to get the bench in, and he should have tried lin earlier.

he sure looked like he could run the offense like mda wants.

Hes got some good size and speed with some very decent vision. He'd make mistakes but I think he's a better choice than what we have. There are a few terrible teams in the NBA and when we kick the crp out of one of them--we see all of the good. But really this is a team that plays with no PG for a coach that needs a PG. Given time I think hes got the chance to develop into one very nice PG. At 6-3 with speed and athletic ability---he's got some physical attributes that can really stand out if someone lets him play and gain PT experience.

From what I can see I think Teams have given up on Lin too quickly. He's got perfect size, handle and an aggressive style for a PG. I would be very disappointed if we didn't retain him and continue to develop him. He seems like a legit player that just needs a chance to keep developing and learning at this level. He prefers to drive rather than take a bad jumper. We haven't had a guard like that. I see no reason we should have to see Bibby at the PG spot with Lin here.

There is no reason to see Bibby regardless...
Lin is cool in garbage time. Hi is light years away from success agaist starting NBA PG/SG defensivly and offensivly.
But he can get better with experience...
So if winning the games will not be important any more he should play as much as possible.

nixluva @ 2/1/2012 1:15 AM
I wouldn't say that Lin is "lightyears away". Lin does need more time to develop, but you can see the talent. He can certainly be a useful part of the rotation. In fact I think a Lin/Shump backcourt would be pretty good.
NYKBocker @ 2/1/2012 1:31 AM
One thing that Lin needs to improve on is strength.

NYKBocker wrote:One thing that Lin needs to improve on is strength.

yea that is the one thing. Like when he gets bumped going for a layup or when the defender ruffs him up trying to steal the ball he doesn't have the strength yet to overpower. No young player is flawless he has to hit the weight room in the off-season

earthmansurfer @ 2/1/2012 2:46 AM
Well guys, get ready for Lin to get some minutes. We have back to back to back games coming against the bulls, celtics and nets. If Lin doesn't see some minutes then the coach is determined to hurt the team, mentally and physically. Last night he rotated basically 8 players with this coming up???

Lin put up 4pts, 4 assists and a stl in 6 minutes last night. Hopefully that helps and doesn't hurt his chances of play. In a blow out loss the coach gives him only 6 minutes? Seriously, I don't dig D'Antoni's rotations and never have. He is just begging to injure our players in a shortened season.

Under New Management.

The key to the Detroit game was NOT Carmelo, although he was much more selective, which is EXPECTED. The key to the game was Landry Fields making the starting five look like a complete five. Shumpert is electric and made some great looks. He is booted and suited to be an ideal sixth man energizer. Think Spree with bigger pecs.

The Lin/ Landry backcourt would be tasty.

Both players are alert and unselfish. Lin would also make certain the ball is shared.

No more Carmelo hoisting 25-30 shots.

Lin has a strong legs and maintains his balance. That is all that matters.

This ain't a weighlifting contest.

If you have a stronger Spree, you would really start Landry Fields over Spree? Does Fields need to start to be effective?

The Answer Man Heats Up Quickly

A. Absolutely. Fields is the epoxy that holds the puzzle together. You need his versatility to fill in for the limitations of Amar'e and Carmelo. Landry's MOVEMENT without the ball is HUGE. His alertness and understanding of spacing is even better.

Until the Knicks bench depth can be rebuilt, and while Shumpert's wheels are still aching, he is a perfect energizer off the bench.

Think Vinnie Johnson with hops and chops.

JonsTintedTails @ 2/1/2012 8:54 AM
Lin should be part of the rotation and get 15-20 mins a night. Let him develop that way and if he continues to get better then you consider starting him. The dude is the best PG we have for D'Antoni's system.

agree about the Lin and Landry together, they both play the "correct" way.
And that is how Fields increase his chances of hitting those shots...

Off topic w/e happen to Dantoni and Laundry and Andy show?
Laudnry and Lin sounds good to me haha

JamaicanJetFan @ 2/1/2012 10:17 AM

Nothin' But a L Thing

"one, two, three and to the fo'
Landry Fields and J Lin is at the do'
Ready to make the rotation so back on up
(Cause you know we're about to rip the court up)

Give Lin the pill first so he can bust like a bubble
Harvard and Stanford together now you know you in trouble...

Ain't nothing but a L thang, baby
Two intelligent guards so we ain't lazy
Cablevision is the label that pays me
Indefatiguable, so please don't try to catch this

But um, back to the situation at hand
Perfection is perfected, so I'mma let em understand
From two yoot guards perspective
And before we dig out a losing streak we have to be more reflexive

You never know, we could be puttin the ball in yo' hand
And losing yo' man - and at the same time winning back Knicks fans
Now you know we ain't with that one on one sh#t, Captain Melo
Ain't no star good enough to carry a squad alone while we up in it

(Yeah) and that's realer than Red "Real-Deal" Holzman with 512
And now you pine brothers and impostors can go to hell
Well, if it's good enough to get broke off a proper dunk
I'll throw a no-look to Tyson Chandler for some of that that funky stuff

No doubt. The Lin and Landry Show would win an Emmy.
