Most likely fans know more than the coaching staff and they should read the UK to know when Lin is ready.

It obvious that MDA is on more of a hot seat then reported because UK forum writers know it!

If it were me, I'd play Lin cuz what does MDA have to lose?

So there is no point to this forum? No need to second guess the coach or think he is doing something wrong? Or to have opinios? Don't get the sarcasm ... Isn't that the point of these board discussions? To give our opinion?

The board exists primarily to make arguments...bad, poorly thought out arguments, primarily about the pros and cons of Starphucquing,
how MDA should be executed, and why we don't play untried yoots in a league which is a glorified old boys club, from management to coaching staffs to players to refs...

I'm still angry about JVG sticking with stupid Charlie Heismann through the '99 Finals run.

What was his other option?

And, Charlie Ward brought Jesus to the game - that counted for 5 of his points.

Houston brought Jesus to the Knicks; Charlie was a disciple/afterthought.
Option: Spree at PG, Houston at SG, KT at PF (insert Duds only as necessary), LJ at SF, Camby at C
How's that for a second-guessing, disconected from probable reality opinion?

Lin needs to add about 10 lbs of muscle to his frame. He is 6'3" and 200 ibs, but he does not play physically. He needs to be more agressive when trying to finish, and the added muscle will help him with that. You give this kid a summer to work on adding muscle, developing his 3pt shoot, and telling him that he has a spot on the team so he can lose the journeyman mentality, and I think the kid will be a solid backup PG with the potential to start. He should be getting a consistent 12-15 minutes a game now.
ChuckBuck @ 2/2/2012 10:59 AM
In the rare case that D'Antoni is retained by the Knicks and Lin is kept beyond February 10th, I'd love for D'Antoni and whoever is the starting PG groom Lin to be at least a suitable backup in the offseason.

Nash did not need to add muscle. Marbury needed muscle, Lin needs to get better at threes, sure. But adding muscle? Muscle wouldn't hurt but do you think its his #1 priority?

Muscle is over rated. Tayshawn Prince does not have a singe muscle on his body and plays effective forward. How much muscle did George Gervin have? This ain't a bodybuilding contest.

At 200 lbs, LIN is not afraid of contact - we dig that about him. Lin has THAT THING we love - which is, as Clyde noted, to "make things happen". That is all that matters. JLIN simply needs to continue to grow and continue making his shots at a 47 per cent rate.

Can a brotha just get 15 minutes of quality time?

See Shump run. See Shump jump high. See Shump's pecs. See Shump sitting on bench, cramping. I love Shump (figuratively speaking), love his game , but muscles don't win you chips. Unless you're MJ.

Lin's entire game and history is based on brains, not athleticism. He is what he is.

Isn't this thread deja vu with Melo's bresses from the beginning of the season?

ChuckBuck @ 2/2/2012 11:20 AM
Durant doesn't have any muscle, neither did Reggie Miller. Lin just needs some burn, which hopefully he'll start getting with the Back to Back to Back games coming up...
gunsnewing @ 2/2/2012 11:23 AM
no muscle but strength to not get pushed around by other nba players
NYKBocker @ 2/2/2012 11:28 AM
When I say improve his strength I don't mean for Lin to go "I pick things up and put them down". I love Lin's game. I have watched a lot of his game clips in Harvard, GSW, Rockets, Knicks and the D-League game. Dude is a pure PG. martin asked me what aspect of his game I thought he can improve on. I think biggest thing he needs to work on is his strength. Not bench press type but leg strength. In almost all his games that I have watched in the NBA with Lin, he does really well but in a couple of instances he gets knocked to the ground. I would really like him to generate more leg strength. Maybe run the hill ala Walter Payton or visit the Miami Hurricanes and run the sand pit. As he stands right now, he can be a very capable starter for the Knicks or any team, but the key is to get better every year.
jrodmc @ 2/2/2012 11:35 AM
Not for nothing, but does leg strength really keep you from getting knocked to the ground? 2/3's of your body weight is already in your legs. To keep from getting knocked down, you need bulk in the rest of your frame. That's not going to help his game. He's not setting picks, he's using his brains and court sense to drive the lane and "make things happen." Getting knocked down by the opposing team's brawn is not going to stop with his type of game.

Unless leg strength will help him get up off the floor faster.

Brandon Jennings is 6'1 and weighs a puny 169 pounds. Does he need more muscle?

Jennings gets where he wants and that fact is NOT based on muscle.

The idea of LIN getting "pushed around" is bogus. He maintains his dribble and gets where he wants on the court. Unlike Tony Douglas, who is stuck in retreat mode. Douglas GETS pushed around with a defender saying "boo!"

Everyone gets knocked down. Everyone. DWade hits the floor as habit. Shaq got knocked down. Kobe gets knocked down and ignores pain. Carmelo gets knocked down a lot. He is no weakling.

The only thing that matters is getting back up.

Thats what im saying there is a difference between juicing and adding muscle to simply strengthening the legs and upper body. Some guys are already born with natural strength others need to work on it

no but he already has strength and athleticism lol Lin doesn'y need muscle he needs strength which he clearly wasn't born with. As evident by all the scouting reports and the limited garbage time minutes he has received from the one and only Mike D'Antoni

Steve Nash got pushed around early in his career. Now look at him not muscular by any means but tough and doesn't get pushed around anymore

gunsnewing wrote:Steve Nash got pushed around early in his career. Now look at him not muscular by any means but tough and doesn't get pushed around anymore

Steve Nash does not get pushed around because he earned respect over time. In the same manner, Mark Price was bullied a lot early. The Answer Man watched Price, as a Georgia Tech senior, in a Summer game, playing against pros who whacked him hard every chance they got. Price kept coming, he got knocked to the floor - and he kept getting up. Eventually, guys learned he would not back down.

It is NOT a test of muscles. It is a test of WILL.

gunsnewing @ 2/2/2012 12:30 PM
not saying Lin doesn't have the will to get back up. I'm saying when he drives in the paint he needs the strength to get a good shot off even after getting bumped by a bigger defender without losing the ball.

I've noticed that too, when he mixes it up inside he tends to bounce off defenders like a rag doll instead of absorbing the punishment. A few protein shakes in the off season wouldn't hurt I guess.
