Knicks · Which trade was worse? (page 1)

Curry trade because Melo can still be traded for something of value.

Once we got Curry you immediately knew we overpaid and he was essentially worthless.

ramtour420 @ 1/26/2012 7:59 PM
This is silly. Why don't you post who would be better at Sumo wrestling Melo or Curry. Neither one of them would ever try it, but hey, Eddie would probably be better. The two trades have nothing in common , other than, well they were both trades. Why I am answering your post I have no idea, perhaps because I fell offended you that you compared the 2, and if that is the reason then I can safely conclude that your posting style is one that trolls use. Fell free to draw conclusions, or not.

Marbury or Glenn Rice?

Eddy or Melo?

Dirt or Mud?

Hitler or Stalin?

Santorum or Newt?

CrushAlot @ 1/26/2012 9:34 PM
Don't forget the McDyess trade.

Common:
1. Starpunch
2. Send too much for it

Different:
1. Melo has value, Eddy zoppo
2. Team chemistry and style was lost with Melo in but no impact on team performance with Eddy (Team was same bad before and after trade)
3. Eddy was a good feet for coach - same caliber of person, Melo trade pushed coaching change

Your#1: Starphuck? What are u smoking? Curry is a star?
Your#2: Melo we maybe gave up too much for, or maybe not.Noone knows what we could or could not have gotten him for, for one. While the common sence dictates that we could have gotten him for less its not a guarantee. And the common sence would dictate something completely different if we had a coach that could get more out of Melo. This chapter is still being written as we speak tho. Us getting Melo could and should have been potentially a steal, Curry, on the other hand had no chance of being a steal and went exactly like it should have(Zeke got fleeced and noone expected it to be otherwise)

Curry trade was worse as things stand now, but we'll see in a few years. It depends on how many All-NBA teams Gallinari makes.
Bonn1997 @ 1/27/2012 6:54 AM
Good topic. Both are starphucking in the sense that Isiah thought Curry would become a star (and sold the idea pretty well to many here) and are part of the same pattern that's gone on for about 10 years with this organization. Arkrud's comments are spot on.

Actually the McDyess trade was a gamble many GM's would make and, had he not re-injured his knee, it might have gone down as a great move. People forget what an absolute BEAST McDyess was prior to the first knee injury.

I'd have to vote for the Glen Rice trade. That was pretty much the start of the downward spiral we are still being sucked into. Before that, there were bad moved but, at the same time, the kept us competitive and relevant unlike the trades made by Isiah. Walsh made a few questionable moves but none were terrible in my estimation except drafting Jordan.

Who cares what Isiah thought. Melo was a starphuck, Curry was a clusterphuck.

We got Melo not as a starsearch, but as a closer, which title teams all need. It's easy to forget that when things aren't going right, but if this team had a PG then you'd all be seeing the reason we have Melo is for his closing ability. I grow tired of all this second guessing and 1st guessing when it comes to why this team made deals for the guys we have. The core makes sense, but the rest of the team isn't in place yet. Still no one is using reason or logic, only emotions and reactions to a poor start.

Ask yourself if this team had Nash would you be talking so negatively about the Melo deal? NO and you know it. The biggest hole on this team is at PG and until that is resolved this team is not going to be clicking on all cylinders. Melo has flaws, but they can be controlled with a good floor leader. That's why they went to the WCF's with Billups.

So in addition to amare, Chandler, Melo, we need a top 5 point guard to make us feel better about the trade?

Curry hands down. We lost three lottery picks and our pick this year in that deal. In a deep draft its criminal.

However, some of the posters don't understand that if your debating which team got the better deal its because we lost the deal. Teams don't improve as drastically as Denver while losing elite talent. Melo isn't a great player hes a great talent.

Yea, for all the guys saying Melo is the Elite SuperMegaStar, it's curious that the team he left got better immediately after the trade.

ya I dont Get it. it seems like either people are terrified of being critical of melo or they love the guy. I mean people keep saying to give it time but he has been here a year and he was suppose to get us over the hump. I mean Denver like the suns, bulls have gotten better by trading with us. Now Melo is 10 times more talented than curry so i never compared the talents im just saying the trades are awfully similar in what we gave up and what we got in return

I was able to see Dyess play live his second year against the Knicks. He was amazing. But remember the Knicks gave up Camby and Nene in that trade. I remember on draft night hearing the speculation pre-draft that the trade might take place and knowing that it would be a huge mistake. I disagree that many gms make that move. I don't think media was what it is today but at the time I was hanging out with a lot of guys that lived for hoop and no one I knew thought the move was anything but stupid.
