The sheer ineptitude and futility of this season reminds me of that year we had Larry Brown- we just suck, game after game and don't even have a good draft pick to look forward to (like RonRon said, it'll probably be pick 6).
If we could of treaded water the last few games we would have been okay- BD would have come back, maybe we could of strengthened the bench with players returning from China in Feb/March. Now, I expect us to lose all 4 games next week, thus ending our season.
First sign of trouble means more trades? How about some stability for a change. Believe it or not we have a good core. Players 1-3 are okay, we just need to add depth and more pieces that fit and can compliment our core. Easier said than done, I know, but its a lot easier to get pieces than it is to get the big piece.

i was one of the guys that was staunchly against trading the farm for Melo. when we finally did, i accepted it and moved on quickly. i gave the team a clean slate and the benefit of the doubt. i guess my patience has run out.
i don't like the style of play at all. it's brutal to watch. if i were the Knicks, i'd get rid of Melo ASAP and try to replenish the roster. i actually think the trade i suggested above is pretty good. granted, it depends on what you think of John Wall. i'm not sure i like him that much as a player, but hey, at this point, beggars can't be choosers.
i was hoping to be wrong about Melo. just like i was hoping to be wrong about Marbury. honestly, Marbury had a greater initial impact. Melo has been poison since we got him. it's just bad vibes. any dude that would be willing to hold his entire team hostage to his own trade demands throughout a half season is not a team player.

Marbury was a better player than Melo. He could at least get other players involved on offense. (He had an f'd up personality and the trade for him was awful.)

they're both pretty much the same to me. guys with tremendous offensive skills who collect assists on bailout passes. neither guy consistently tried to set guys up.
Decent defense would've been the one thing that could've kept this team afloat. It's a blanket that keeps struggling teams alive. But when you are coached by Mike Dantoni, who puts all his eggs in one basket, these are the results you get.
Fire Dantoni.

yeah, except that the defense has been OK this year.
i'm beginning to think that hiring Woodson was one of the worst things that happened this season because it weakened D'Antoni in the eyes of his players. between that and his lame duck status, it's no surprise that guys are tuning him out.

eVil, its hard to argue these numbers.
They're only respectable in turnovers forced and steals per game.
You can easily tell this is still a D'antoni run team.

I don't know. It's hard to get 8 or 9 assists a game doing that. My problem with Marbury had much more to do with defense and personality issues.

In that case....
Which nickname is better:
Marbello
Carbury
Carmelobury
(or some other option I haven't thought of?)

it's hard to argue anything other than that the Knicks are terrible. but i think they're terrible because of their offense. do you watch? are they not the most painful team to watch play ball? they are atrocious. no ball movement. no cuts. nothing. tons of turnovers. tons of clanked shots taken in awkward positions at the end of the shot clock. i don't know that i've watched a worse offensive team in my entire time being a basketball fan. and i watched Fratello's Cavs.

Ya the offense has been the weakness for sure. I mean sure the lack of pg does hurt but i just feel that melo and amare dont fit together since they both a primary scorers that dont do much else. Mike D'antoni only does well with a certain up tempo team which is gone now. Last Year we had a fats team now we are slow as hell. how many times have we got beatn down the court

how's about Starmelo?
Unless things change soon, Amare becomes Stat-Smith after this guy

And do add to that, the constant switching on D has killed us. The switching philosophy cost us the Pho and Orlando games for sure and perhaps more.

First, Melo has accomplished far more than Marbury ever has in his NBA career. Outside of Melo, Stat (whose been a shell of himself to start the season)and Chandler, this team is paper thin. Every other player on this roster is bench fodder. It also doesn't help when the coach plays his best 2 players out of their comfort zones. Melo is a flat-out scorer. Always has been, always will be. You dont ask Bernard King or Adrian Dantley to run point forward. Thats asking for trouble. You dont stop running pick-n-roll with one of the best pick-n-roll PF's in the league, to now have him running off curl screens on the top of the key like he's Ray Allen.
Melo is a closer. You need closers to win in the league (Ask the Heat and Dirk). You can win with Melo if you have the right pieces around him. That Nuggs team that went to the western conf finals was a nice mix of players (and coaches) that can compliment Melo and vice versa.

To say something as idiotic as this shows that its personal with Melo. Any comments you have about Melo should be taken with a grain of salt.
