What? Even his former team wouldn't give him a long-term deal because of his knees. The only people not worried about his knees are the people who thought we had a .700 team.

So why are other NBA teams itching to get him??..Arent they afraid too???

What's your evidence for that?

Seriously? Where's your evidence for your assertion? Oh I get it--you two disagree so he needs to provide you empirical evidence!

No - I tend to agree with Bonn- I don't see teams itching to get Amar'e. They may be thinking that they can take advantage of us - that they are itching for- and trade their problem for ours because they think their problem is bigger and, oh, just by making a trade with us they come out better for it - and that is based on historical data.

tend to agree implies opinion. I'm not agreeing/disagreeing because frankly I don't know where I stand. But there is no hard empirical evidence to back the asserion the flipside of holfresh's opinon that other NBA team's are itching to get Amar'e.

So if Philly is willing to shed salary to trade for Amar'e, isn't that kind of like saying they would have signed him had they had the cap room?

All claims need *appropriate* evidence. My claim is that I've seen no evidence that other teams are interested in him. You want evidence about what I've seen? The only specific claim I made was that his former team wouldn't give him a long-term deal, and you should be able to find evidence for that by Google searching. Holfresh is making the specific claim that teams are itching to get him. Of course, that claim needs evidence.

A serious question- when did we last win a trade that involved actual players? (not draft picks or cap space)- I don't trust this team to make any wise trades at all...

Probably not this millennium.

Doesn't the one who makes the assertion (not merely state an opinion) usually need to back that with a supportable argument that is predicated by facts?

If one says "why are so many teams interested in him" that is a pretty strong statement like it's is a known fact and one might tend to ask "how do you know that"? "What is the proof of this"?

In my "opinion", I don't believe there are many teams that are retarded enough to take on a 100 million dollar player in-decline who cannot get his contract insured.

But that is just my opinion

This is sheer lunacy. Keep Stat, get a coach with a half court offense OR get a solid PG to run this offense. Enough with trade scenarios. Stat is one of the best parts of this team, on so many levels.
HARDCOREKNICKSFAN @ 1/30/2012 11:11 AM
It sounds as though, as per the initial report, that Philly was just doing due dilligence.

I'd rather trade coaches with Philly than players, though.

Especially since we're on the verge of signing JR "Kobe-lite" Smith.

Some posters on here are sniffing their toner cartridges rather than refilling them.

"Hi, Glen, it's the first place Sixers calling. Yeah, well we're going into a tough part of our schedule, so we figured we Starphuque like you and maybe move back into the basement where we belong."

I think you and franco missed my point on this... Bonn likes to pull shit out of his ass, and when there is information readily available on Google (as he just put it), and it doesn't flow with his line of thinking, he starts demeaning and screaming for empirical evidence.

I really don't yet have an opinion Amar'e and other teams willingness to acquire him for a headliner package. This schedule certainly isn't accomodating to someone with his medical history, which could make it worse, or it could get better when he can rest.

But my "opinion" is that he's better and bigger than Rashard Lewis and Gilbert Arenas when they were traded. He also is not owed $100 million.

nixluva @ 1/30/2012 3:21 PM
I've said this over and over, there's nothing wrong with STAT that a good PG won't cure. Philly would rape us in a trade, cuz as soon as they'd get STAT you'd see how good he still is. We literally have had no one passing him the ball in a good scoring position. Too often he gets the ball near the 3pt line or they completely miss him wide open after a PnR. This is just more Knee Jerk crap.

I tend to agree with this, especially because he does have a sweet stroke when he doesn't also have to create space for himself.

tj23 @ 1/30/2012 5:53 PM
Brand could put up better numbers but the ball is being shared. He's very efficient. But you guys want Lou? He's a chucker. Not a true pg. I'll take brand and their 1st and walk away happy. Young is another low iq guy we don't need here. Wouldn't mind Evan turner or vucevic.

Everyone should ask for evidence if an opinion contrary to their views is expressed. That's just good critical thinking. Why would I bother demanding evidence for a view I supported? That's not worth the time it would take to make the demand.
