If we can get Phil, then do it but if not I actually agree with this.

yeah but what's after that?
Let me help the intern with some improved pseudo code:
"Coach Routine"
1. Fire current coach
2. Hire new coach
3. Allow coach to settle
4. Bring in players that don't suit coach's style
repeat "Coach Routine" until someone presses Ctrl-C and ends our misery

No one ever "improves" my code. No one. Plus you forgot to add the part about "shut up and stop complaining". Try putting that into your "improved" code, you jagoff
Remember how stable the Knicks were after they extended Isiah's contract? That was awesome.
Maybe if they extend him the mantra could be we have lost so much the past three plus years things have to get better.
I actually agree with this. Extend D'Antoni. He is not the problem as a matter of fact I actually think he is the best thing the Knicks have going for them.
I dont know when some you us fans are going to wake up. Through all these seasons we have been losing and losing badly, they sign what we think are good players and we still suck, they change the coach and we are still horrible. Guys the problem is the management! Firing D'Antoni is not going to help us win more games, only a change in the management style of this team will change the Knicks' fortune. I dont know how anyone cannot see this, it is seriously boggling my mind.
Didn't Steinbrenner do this all the time? We can't get rid of the owner (unless we had a unified boycot). We are stuck with him. We can't get rid of the players (our Stars) cause they run the world. Who next???
So is there any circumstance in which a coach should be fired? Or should they be extended automatically? What would a coach have to do to be fired and collect benefits if he wanted to quit? Can any of the MDA backers answer this?

I think if he commits murder or some other violent crime, then stepping down would be the right thing to do, because he will be too busy with legal issues to fully devote his attention to the team. Also, if he is not granted bail (in the case of a particularly heinous crime, such as murdering several knick fans with an ax) he really wouldn't be able to make the practices or attend the games. As I say, this would be a disservice to the team and therefore he should step down. If he refuses, the team should then consider firing him.
Was that the kind of answer you were looking for?
Funny how the legendary coaches of this game never demanded players of their "type", but only asked for toughness, unselfishness, and an aspiration to win.
But then you have guys complaining about Dantoni not having his type of players.
Ridiculous.

This is the extent of my starphuch coach/GM.
Its why I hope we have not replaced Grunwald yet.
Save a spot for Bill Bradley on the Cablevison/MSG board of directors.
My hope is that he becomes owner of the team. Maybe Dolan decides to be charitable and sells the organization to him for a couple thousand dollars.

But it was a dumb jury who convicted him who obviously did not understand or comprehend how good of a citizen he was in Phoenix and that there is no way that a guy who was such a great citizen could have commited such a heinous crime:
Stats to prove this:
2004 - Phoenix MDA
------------------
Citizen Eff. 95.93
everyon else 48.44
See? It's not MDA! Its the jury! You have to get him a Jury that understands his system/psyche and then have a retrial. And if that fails? Get him a new Jury ...
Infinite Loop until found innocent.
And, don't forget - MDA from SingSing can do a better job than anyone else!
See Stats:
MDA in SingSing
----------------
Off. Eff. + Spacing - Talent differential = 139.99
everyone else = 78.88
What positive things has Antoni done in his 4 years here? I honestly can't think of anything.
Offensively they're a mess now and haven't been an efficient offense despite Antoni's reputation as an offensive genius.
Defensively... well that's self explanatory.
Does the team practice hard? No. Does the team play hard? No. Does the team play as a team? No.
Antoni gets to collect $24M for doing nothing over the past 4 years. That's enough, time to go.
Islsfan raises a good question. what has he done in four year here? Can anyone answer this without any qualifiers?

This will definitely receive a Nixluva auto-response message in regards to the Knicks / MDA off Eff. with Felton running the point ... yawn

Are you kidding me?
First winning season since Van Gundy's 48 wins in 2000-2001. That's a decade if you're keeping score. First winning season in a decade.
40 different players on the roster in three seasons, guy takes them to the playoffs last year and their first winning season in a decade.
Whatever shit was thrown at his face, he wiped it off and kept coaching.

I agree, plus he also developed most of the young players we had, which was great because these players were later traded for Melo.

D'Antoni is not a legendary coach so why put him in that class. There are very few "legendary" coaches so you have to win with something else. Unless Phil Jackson comes here, no one we hire is going to be a "legendary" coach. So since that is the case we need to support our coach and provide him with players that suit his style. My guess is that this is a quicker way to win then putting random players on the floor and then hoping htat our coach becomes "legendary"

Who did he develop? Gallo? Picked 6th in the draft and was horribly inconsistent under MDA - 24 points one game and 3 the next. Please ...
Mozgov? 3.5 million a year to foul out in 5 minutes? Took forever to play him, had one good game.
They both have / had potential but MDA did not get the most or best out of them.
Took forever to play him, had one good game.
"Forever" is a relative term..
The guy started as a rookie. He was not ready, then he got hurt, then he started playing well.
Rookies and young players are inconsistant before they are constistant. Its progress.
20 games is forever in knickland.
We are calling for the coach's head and already ready to re-trade the team.

Gallo, was fine under MDA, yes inconsistent but fine, you really don’t pay attention to the NBA as a whole. Not everyone is Lebrom or Shaq or Duncan, and considering that Gallinari missed most of his rookie season due to back problems he was on his way up with the Knicks for sure. Aside from statistics, is very important for rookies and young players to develop a strong work ethic and discipline in order to succeed in the NBA. This is why Donnie Walsh brought MDA and I believe he did a good job with most of them, not every one of them, but then again who does?
