TD was awful. STAT looked like he did last year. Melo, looks healthier and Fields is coming along. Shumpert is inexperienced but he will not back down. Chandler is looking good too.
Is it just me or is the offense looking better the last 2 games. Much more movement and some pick and rolls too.
This team needs a real PG. End of story. The fact that they went into the season without one is ridiculous. If BD can't do the job due to injury or skill set, then they will be lucky to be .500
The other option is to switch the system until you get the right PG.
The bottom line is the team has no PG and no depth. The trade can be blamed for both of those as they had Felton and had a ton of depth. It will take time to rebuild it. If BD can play and If JR Smith comes here, it does the following; MOves Shumpert and Fields to the bench and TD to the inactive squad. Maybe TD can then be dealt for some front court depth.
BD
JR
Melo
STAT
Chandler
Fields
Shump
Jefferies
Harrelson
Novak
If that team is healthy there is no reason they should not win more than they lose.

BD - Cuttino Mobley
Fields - still learning and making adjustments
Melo - stubbornly making progress
Stoudemire - tried to make a pass, be still my heart
Chandler - as active a big man as the Knicks have ever had
Shump - sixth man
Jefferies - no thank you, you cannot run a play four on five
Harrelson - yes please
Novak - no thank you, far too passive
JR Smith - believe it when he suits up
BD needs to get his ass out on court. Honeymoon is over, time to contribute is now.
I am losing patience with this guy. If its that questionable that he will ever play we should have looked elsewhere. I know the Cavs are paying for him but he still costing us a roster spot.
I don't think bringing up the fact that the Nuggets are much better after losing Melo is ever in the past.
The Nuggets blew out the Clippers and Moz and Gallo were efficient and played within a team concept. We were building the right way. The Bulls don't have multiple superstars they just have good player on the bench and at every position. The direction the Knicks should have kept building.
It's embarrassing when you have three near max players and you feel good about losing a close game on your home floor. Embarrassing!

Don't hate the playa.
Hate the oh-so-fragile fragile vertebrae in the small of your back.

This is so true. Unless we get lucky in the trade deadline or get a Nash type PG in the offseason, we are fucked.
OR..MDA finally lets Lin play.

I like Lin, but I don't think he is the answer. That being said, why not throw him in the fire tonight against Rondo? He cannot be worse than TD, that is for sure!
TD needs rest and a chance to re-think his role. He may find himself in the NBDL is he keeps this up.

Right now, I would take Mardy Collins over TD.
the positives from this game have to include:
(1) Amare back in beast mode
(2) Fields HOT shooting from behind the arc carrying over from the DET game
(3) Shump drilling long range 2 pointers and having a great night. I'm pretty sure he had 10 pts, 8 ast, 2 sts, 5/9 FG

yep you hit the nail on the head
negatives:
1 - Melo time in the 4th ball stopped moving, stopped letting Amare feel the ball
2 - Toney Douglas
3 - Not giving TD's minutes to Jeremy Lin
4 - MDA putting in that horrible lineup at the end of the 3rd when Rose was on the bench and we still couldn't take a lead

people constantly lament d'antoni for not playing his bench more. so he plays his bench and what do people do? lament that the bench sucks. i guess he's truly in a cant win situation.

I think you guys are just either too quick to go into "melo blame mode" or I am just seeing things. Amar'e had 11 field goal attempts in the 4th, Melo had 6.
Also, I don't understand why Melo going into ISO mode should completely stop the flow of the offense. The other four player are usually standing still when Melo is in iso mode. We saw in the first half that is somewhat of a good passer. I can't help but think if the players move without the ball while he is trying to create, it should create some easy shots since he demands a lot of attention. If he doesn't pass it then, then yes that is selfish play but them standing still really isn't helping us either. Especially when we have a line up of Melo, Landry, Toney, Jeffries, and Chandler.

He should play his bench but you just don't throw a bunch of guys together just to give them p/t.
A lineup of Melo,Landry,Toney, JJ, and Chandler is only gonna succeed offensively if:
1) Their excellent defense leads to easy offense....which was not the case
2) Melo is on fire and everything he throws up goes in.
3) Both Melo and Landry are playing smart and equally contribute to scoring.
Toney has becoming increasingly unreliable, JJ is JJ, and the PnR for Chandler is just not always there, nor is it IMO, ever run correctly between he and Melo. It seems as if Chandler setting the screen is just simply to free Melo for the elbow jumper.

who do you want him to play together? the knicks bench is absolutely putrid. no combination with our bench is going to work.

You're right, sucks to be MDA.
Did anyone else catch a sweet steal by Shumpert off of Rose I believe it was? Was hard to tell who it was from watching the stream, but it was so beautiful.

The team's effort has been better and they tend to play up to competition (which is another issue that needs to be addressed). I think that's one area that players and coaches can control: effort. You can miss open shots, you can make mistakes with the ball. But effort, hustle, desire, intensity are things that, as Chuck D once said, "is not a matter of skills, but a battle of wills."

I think 2nd and 4th bullet on "negatives" is tied to each other. You really can't put JJ alongside Chandle. Both can't shoot from the perimeter and the lane is bottled up for Melo. TD is just horrible. MDA should have put Lin for TD and take either Chandler or Fishlips out and put in Jordan or Novak to spread the floor a little.
MDA needs to play the bench but needs to play the right combo. I think his greatest attribute is also his greatest flaw. He is really very loyal to a fault. MDA has to get over his loyalty to JJSkinny and TD and just bench those fookers.

I am not liking Alan Hahn this season. I tweeted to him about Jeremy Lin and he did not reply.
Bastard.
