Why are you talking like an ignorant Celtics fan? You should know that the offense isn't about winning only if we hit 3's! How is it that his offense has been either the most efficient offense in the league or no worse than top 5 when he's had at least a decent PG? Jacking 3's isn't efficient, so clearly his offense has been much more than that.

If the offense was so bad and relied on 3pt shooting in order to be good, then how can it at the same time be one of the most efficient offenses in the league. Never mind all the change that have occurred in the 2 Duhon Years and even last year. 65+ different players isn't a recipe for success. We've denied the coach the one thing he needs to be successful.

Now we should fire him to complete the orderal on high note.
Unfortunately the story doesn't make any sense. Dolan loves to hide unpopular moves by announcing them on Friday's at 5pm or during news cycles that will overshadow them. That's just how the scumbag works. But firing Antoni would not be unpopular amongst most Knicks fans so there's no need to hide the news. In fact there's a better chance that the Knicks would get a bump from their fan base for firing Antoni based on all the "Fire D'Antoni" chants at Knicks games this year.
That story is so bogus its not even funny..no way he fires him before season ends..no way...what are firing him for....for being 5 or 6 games behind of where we should be...take a look at the top 5 teams in the league..none have made significant changes..mike woodson just got fired..why would anybody want him as a head coach..please..if your going to fire him please have someone on deck that's better..

a voice of reason. If you have a guy with a great track record waiting take over thats one thing. Career winners... guys like Larry Brown or Lenny Wilkins.
Imagine if Phili fired Doug Collins when they were 3-13 last year? Of course every Knick fan wishes we had a guy coaching like Doug Collins right now. Only problem is no Knick fan could tolerate that kind of stretch (as demonstrated by the chants and postings around here)
Its the way of the NY sports fans

that would be true if Dolan wasn't totally out of touch. When is the last time he even spoke to an average Knick fan. He lives up in his ivory palace looking down on the masses he can't come close to relating to.
Like you said, he likes to hide unpopular decisions and after going through as many coaches as he has in the past decade how could this possibly be spun as positive. He'll do it during the superbowl. .
Bogus rumor. Anonymous sources? That's Bermanesque. If this was legit it would appear on some credible sports site, not just the daily.
There is a coach with a winning track record waiting at the helm. His name is Phil Jackson. Whether its this year or next. Wouldn't surprise me to find out Dolan got word from Phil he is coming.

thats the fear. The only hope for this season is that MDA can turn this around. He's the only guy in a position to do so. Are you going to replace him with someone from the outside? Who is going to come in here and fix this? Are you going to give someone from his staff the interim tag? Woodson? Herb? Those guys are going to do something MDA hasnt thought of?

I'd give it to Herb, all the way.

He's 67 and has health issues. Is that really a good fit? If he's into it sure.. why not. I doubt he takes the job and if he does I doubt even stronger it would be for the right reasons
I'm sure he can go another 3yrs. he's only 2yrs older than Couglin and he doesn't have to coach in the freezing cold. I really think it would mean a lot to Phil to end it where it started. He is very fond of his days spent in NY and he has nothing to prove. If he wins a championship in NY it would be the fitting end to an illustrious career
Then again screaming at Toney Douglas can't be good for anyone's health regardless of age
gunsnewing wrote:only way I see him getting fired now is if the Zen Master already gave Dolan his word otherwise they will give MDA the rest of the year
I was thinking this but we do have Mike Woodson.

haha... you can see the headline now (Onion maybe)
"Hall of Fame coach dies from lack of point guard play"
-screaming may have led to heart failure
-hearing Dolan's band led to brain failure

Is Mike D'Antoni is feeling the heat? Well, he sure realizes his job is in jeopardy. That much was clear when he answered a question about feeling any relief after Tuesday's win over Detroit. “The only thing [Tuesday] night proved is I could get one good night’s sleep this week," D’Antoni said. “That’s the only thing that happened. Other than that, we’re still 8-13 and the posse is after me, so I’m running as fast as I can run. Hopefully I can turn this posse into a parade. That’s my focus. I’m working as hard as I can work."
D'Antoni is in the final year of his contract and there has been speculation surrounding his job status since the beginning of the season. That only intensified as the Knicks lost nine out of ten games in January.
They beat Detroit on Tuesday -- one of the worst teams in the NBA. But the team faces a tougher test beginning Thursday, when they host the Chicago Bulls.
The Bulls game is the first of three straight for the Knicks. They travel to Boston on Friday and then come home to host New Jersey on Saturday.
One report in "The Daily" stated that D'Antoni would be fired by owner James Dolan on Sunday if the Knicks lost to Chicago and Boston so the Knicks could avoid a media firestorm with the Giants in the Super Bowl.
But the popular belief is that D'Antoni will get a chance to coach a healthy Baron Davis. Davis is dealing with a back injury. He missed a practice and shoot around earlier this week and has not been able to take contact due to lingering soreness in his back.

Anyone else smell IT leaking?
I was wondering why this smelled like bull-crap. That would certainly explain it.
You fire a coach when you have a backup plan in place, not contingent on wins on a back to back schedule.
Phil would no doubt use the Triangle and when you look at how it's supposed to function it's not much different from what we're doing now. Only we run PnR on the strong-side with Tyson and Melo and on the Weak-side it's supposed to be STAT and a PG. Tyson isn't a Post up C, so we run the PnR which he can run. The style is different but the goals are the same. Our only problem is that at the top of our offense our 2 man game isn't functioning right now. Phil could end up being just as frustrated with this roster. The key isn't a change of coach as much as improving the roster.
The system's most important feature is the sideline triangle created between the center, who stands at the low post; the forward at the wing, and the guard at the corner. The team's other guard stands at the top of the key and the weak-side forward is on the weak-side high post — together forming the "two-man game."The offense starts when a guard passes to the wing and cuts to the strong-side corner. The triangle is created from a post player on the strong-side block, the strong-side corner, and the extended strong-side wing, who gains possession on the first pass. The desired initial option in the offense is to pass to the strong-side post player on the block who is in good scoring position. From there the player has the options of looking to score or pass to one of the perimeter players who are exchanging from strong-side corner and wing, a dive cut down the lane, or the opposite wing flashing to the top of the key which initiates another common option known as the "pinch post."
Phil's biggest strength is in dealing with the super ego of the elite player. I don't see there being as much of a need here. We only have one guy that is really a big ego and It's not the reason we lose. There's no Kobe and Shaq dynamic here. I'd prefer that the Knick Brass concentrate on fixing the roster more than worrying about the coach. Depth of talent is our biggest issue.

Is Ian Begley so bad he can't even read the article correctly? The Daily stated that Dolan had already decided to fire MDA and was just waiting until after the next 2 games....not IF they lose them.
