Knicks · Completely against bringing in JR Smith now (page 8)

I think you misread. I said IN Denver, he was used like a closer, not as a Knick. Here, his role is pretty clear and I'd think he's happy to be away from Karl the Clown.

DurzoBlint - well stated.

JR is also an entertainer. There is a dramatic flourish to his game. He does not simply dunk - he dunks it backwards. He does not take the textbook shot - he spins, twists and then decides whether he wants to pass or not. Being aware of the Broadway stage, JR knows that the people seated courtside paid good money for a show. He is happy to oblige. In his first game, with no practice, after he drained the first shot he ever attempted wearing a Knicks uniform, what happened...?

He heard it from the crowd.

After the second three, he sprinted back on defense and pimped out his crisp New York jersey, as if to say, "honey, I'm home!"

Like the most aware entertainers, who seek the highest notes, he feeds off the energy of the crowd. He will take risks. He will also fail. But after those moments when he hits it just right... all the ladies in the house will say, "OWWW!"

Is there a better place for JR than Madison Square Garden?

Most people on this board think I'm Bippity, so I actually count as two crow eaters.

And Bippity still thinks you're an a-hole.

-elite shooter (he has yet to heat up)

-underrated defender (better than Fields)
etc

- Given his antics, JR deserved a vendetta or two.

Sorry, had to disagree with something; it's the rhoids typing.

sealy @ 3/2/2012 2:13 PM
I definitely am eating crow because I thought he would be a problem by taking bad shots and eating into Fields/Shump minutes.

That second unit wouldn't be as close to dangerous without him. Glad he's here and thank god for posters like airchibundo and his prognostications. Seriously though, looks like you were right about JR.

Not sure about your Baron Davis thoughts though.

Don't count on it. Their inability to admit their mistakes knows no bounds.

Jr is shooting all of 35% after tonight.
Nalod @ 3/6/2012 11:10 PM
The more he practices, the more plays he learns, the more he gets to understand the defense, the worse he plays.
jrodmc @ 3/7/2012 7:36 AM
At least he's where he's appreciated and loved by the fanbase who wanted him imported from China with all they were worth.

So, if JR starts to suck major donkeykong, ends up on the rag backpages for DWI or weapons charges, do I get to regurgitate all this crow?

Seems that wsay doesn't it

Sometimes "coming home" has many distractions.

Good news is if nobody wants him he can stay for the 2.5mil he signed for and perhaps play up.

Hope is always good!

Vmart @ 3/7/2012 9:24 AM
Why did the Knicks sign him? He is a horrible player he has propensity to jack the dumbest shots.
MSG3 @ 3/7/2012 10:39 AM
He's really been everything people fear most about him so far. Even in his first game. Shots were falling but they weren;t necessarily good shots. I do like what I see form him on D though. He's showing effort there.
BRIGGS @ 3/11/2012 10:54 AM
Hes a punk id drop him in a second
earthmansurfer @ 3/11/2012 11:01 AM
We gave him an option for next year. We absolutely can't cut him. The picture thing is no thing. I am not worried about that. I want to see him start to hit his shot again. I like him off the bench so he can get his shots.
AlexanderFuSheng @ 3/11/2012 11:12 AM
JR needs to post his shit in the 'Alba' thrrad and save himself some coin!

now that is a solution we can all get behind

BD is killing us, trying to showboat.
nycisgreat @ 3/11/2012 2:21 PM
If anyone get a chance, take a look at the Foul committed on Brand in the 4th Qtr @ 4:25 on Lin's layup attempt. Look at the ref on the baseline. He was clearly not trying to give the continuation. You will see the ref waiting for the ball to go off the rim before calling that tripping foul. I am not no conspiracy theorist, but I am just saying.

With that in mind I think we can give him a chance if he wants to come here for the minimum. The first instance of him having a personality clash with any of the other Knick players we tell him to clear out his locker and stay home.

Thank you. Give him 2.5 mil for this year and let him earn a longer contract.

Since we got a nice streak here going, Im actually now against bringing in J.R. Smith. Whose minutes is he going to take?

did we play miami in this streak? chicago?

no. we predominately beat up on lottery team and .500 teams

Agree. You need a JR Smith(39% 3FG last year) that can knock down 3s when Lin or Melo are getting trapped in the half court in the playoffs. Unless you're confident in Fields or Shumpert knocking down the big shot, which they proven they haven't yet.

Yea, but i dont want to stump their development for someone who might be a locker room cancer and damage our already delicate and steadily developing chemistry. Especially after I have seen with my own eyes what a malcontent (Cousins) can do to a once promising team.

Hi Subzero from the past. Alot has happened over the past few weeks so let me catch you up! After your passionate post about the need to keep team chemistry by keeping what you have and developing the youth in shumpert, novak, lin etc, the Knicks have regressed. They actually signed JR Smith, but it seemed to have a recoil effect. Dont get me wrong, JR and his wife have brought many things to the Knick team. More of the players are sporting new tattoos now. Jared Jeffries, Shumpert come to mind (http://pinterest.com/pin/563654328061128....

Smith has also helped the knicks up their three point attempts... not much when it comes to three point makes though. Where the knicks were a promising team on a 7 game run, the optimism for the teams success has now been replaced because of a 5 game slide. The youngins, Shumpert, Novak, Lin have indeed regressed due in large part to the minutes that have to be shared now with JR Smith.

He hasnt helped us win games, he has furthered the regression of development for players we need in the future, he is not likely to resign with us this summer, and the team is falling out of playoff position fast. Yea, pretty much everything you thought would go wrong has gone wrong... and oh yea, dont even get me started on Amare and Carmelo.
