Knicks · The Knicks are Finally Back! (page 2)

You know what guys, if Jeremy Lin never plays another game I'll always be thankful to him that we've had such a thrill for 4 games.

I'm sure though that he's going to play and thrive for the Knicks for years to come.

Dolan needs to turn over the keys to the Ferrari after the season!!

mmorman - great thoughts. Lin, singlehandedly (with help from his running buddies) has sent a shock wave through the entire league. David Stern should send Lin a handwritten note for erasing the last sour vibes from the lockout.

Know what a class move would be? Dolan needs to "man up" and dap Lin up with an unheard of, IN SEASON performance bonus.

Let the good times roll!!! We will only get better with Amare and Melo. The Knicks are BACK!!!

“I’ve been coming here since high school in 1955,” said Cal Ramsey, leaning on a cane in the runway. “I’ve never seen anything like this in my life, just out of nowhere.”

ya its one of the better runs a pg has had. Now Lin is gonna have a good career no matter what happens. But considering we are playing withotu any real offensive weapons this can only get better as long as they buy into the system

BigRedDog wrote:This still isn't a final product and we still will need some fine tuning but the emergence of Lin on this team reminds me of adding Debusschere to the 1968 Knicks. It is like adding a piece of the puzzle that was so sorely missing.

Lin is a great piece but:

!. We lack a backup point guard. Lin needs help.

2. We lack a backup center. Amer'e cannot start at the four AND backup center on his knees.

3. We could use a quality three with a well-rounded game.

!. Toney Douglas

2. Josh Harrellson

You don't have to duplicate your starters at back up positions. Going from a help Defender like Chandler to a wide body with a jump shot like Jorts works in the NBA. And I know TD could be hurting, but I don't see the point in playing Biddy who does nothing for 15 minutes a night. TD should be working those minutes and getting his groove back.

I would respectfully submit Anji, that outside an emergency, we have seen that last of Toney Douglas at the point.

Baron will have a crucial role. The kid does need to rest - especially in back to back games. We saw that last night.

ya but we dont have to worry about baron plying/doing too much. he could be beneficial giving lin like you said rest. hell we may even let lin sit a little more for a back to back just to give him some more rest

There is a thing in this league know as a scoring point guard. Many teams have them and don't expect them to anything but come off the bench for 20 minutes a game to give the starter a blow and put the ball in hoop. You don't need to be Nash to be a backup point guard.

And just because he isn't a starter doesn't mean he isn't a good change of pace off the bench.

I don't understand why people want to throw the baby out with the bath water when it comes to TD.

The 15-10 minutes Bibby is getting is a pure waste. TD is a good guard off the bench.

Yeah, you can't be a "scoring point guard" with an FG% around .250.

Bibby is not better then TD and there isn't a single stat you can point that says other wise. TD is slumping, but that doesn't mean because he isn't a starter you just throw him away.

The team is in a very good place right now and that is precisely the reason you try to work TD in now.

Have you watched any game with TD running the point this season? If you had you couldn't possibly try to make he case for him to play point. TD has been the worst point guard in the history of the NBA. Enuff of this sheeeit already.

Anji @ 2/12/2012 8:08 PM
Off the bench is what I said.

15-20 minutes a game TD can handle the point to give the starter a blow.

That's all I said. Every point guard in the league isn't a Pick and roll player like Lin or a pass first player.

Right roll and less of load TD is a good player and way better than Bibby.

No he can't handle it for 20 minutes because that's what he's been getting this entire time and he's been failing miserably at it. What's the love affair with poor shooting, low IQ basketball players?

Before Lin started to play, TD had too responsibly and played a too many minutes at the beginning of the season being yo-yo in and out of the starting line up.

Td is a good player in the right situation, so with everything being alot easier with Lin running the point, TD should diffidently be work back in to the backup role. This 25 year old was basically the second or third option last year coming down the stretch last year when Stat and Billups were hurt/injured.

Not giving up TD in a shorten season that has seen alot of players struggle, while in a role that was too big for him. No reason to be knee jerk on TD right now. Bibby is a complete waste and player we had no reason to be playing 15 minutes a game.

last year toney had a good role. He came off the bench and was more effective. now its obvious he has digressed. but i think he can still salvage his season coming off the bench

Based on Toney Douglas' performance trend this season, what would make you say that?

Certainly NOT at point guard. Shump is solid as the back up two and Novak deserves minutes that could easily cameo at shooting guard. What spot would Douglas play and whose minutes does he take from the new mix?

It should be obvious that TD is not fully recovered from his shoulder surgery. Last season, TD LED the league in 3 point shooting at around 48%. His shot was clutch on several occasions. At this point, he's definitely not tradeable, but the team extended him. I think he has been given a pass thru the rest of the season.
