i just don't know whats happened here, maybe it's the influx of all new people but god damn. people need to chill the fuck out.

I agree. The only thing that I did not like last night was the offense not starting in Lin's hands. I thought it broke our timing and we had wasted possesions. JR Smith did this. Landry and Melo as well. In Melo's post game interview, he mentioned this so obviously he is a very smart basketball player. I think he said this as a way to inform JR and others to give up the ball to Lin after change of possesion.

Lol, what??

No one needed any informing before Melo came back.

Problem is: Melo thinks he's the Big Kahuna when it should be Lin.

This isn't overreacting. It's being realistic. Melo can't work in this system.

Either MDA or Melo goes, and watching that awesome 8-1 run without Melo, I hope it's Melo that goes.

Melo was giving up the ball to Lin all game and had 6 assists last night, 3 less than Lin. Yes, he can play in the system and will play in the system fine. The guy had a bad night...you know 1st game back from an injury. The entire team played like dog crap last night. Stat shot 7 for 17, Lin 7 of 18, JR 2 for 8 and Novak 3 for 10 and this solely rides on Melo's 4 for 11. He took less shot than Lin, STAT and 1 more than Novak. Looks

Dude c'mon...for someone who claims not be a Melo hater you sure seem to be a Melo hater. The entire team played like crap and we only lost by 8. For as bad as they played last night a few foul calls and a copy of lucky bounces our way that the Nets got and it's a different story.

Just shows me when this all comes together we have a freaking awesome team.

Must be like what just getting started with crack is like.

I still hate the Nets anyway.

i think the problem is amar'e, not melo.

amar'e makes tyson less effective, as he clogs the lane. he takes away from jeffries' and jort's minutes at PF and they are both much better defensive players and have been more efficient offensively this season - which is ASTOUNDING.

i don't think amar'e, in his current limited form, is a player you can win a championship with. this isn't an overreaction based on one game - i've been saying as much all season. further, i think pairing Amar'e and Melo isn't a championship formula. neither plays enough defense. i think you can cover for one guy like that in your frontcourt, especially if he has an elite offensive skill like melo. but you can't cover for two guys like that. and i think having two guys like that makes their scoring less special.

i think melo and lin can work it out and develop chemistry.

i don't think i believe melo and amar'e will ever work together. we know the problem isn't depth now, we know it's style of play and their styles are too redundant which seems to accentuate the negatives in both of their games.

one of them needs to go. i think it makes more sense to keep melo.

I agree melo, Jr & fields were doing their own thing at times instead of getting the ball to Lin. Hopefully things change when they watch the film. They took away Lin's effectiveness by keeping the ball away from his hands. Lin was just another guy out there last night it was like playing with TD at times. Melo was pretty good early on playing within the flow but I remeber one posession where Melo should was double teamed and should've swung the ball around 2 open Knicks on the other side of the floor instead he forced up a bad shot. That just can't happen. Melo needs to forget about his stats this year and play like earl Monroe. If it means averaging 15 instead of 25 so be it. Also needs to continue to be aggressive and not worry about the turnovers. Forget what the media is saying! We won 8 of 9 despite the turnovers. He needs to continue to take charge of the team.

Amare and Melo both do have to start earning their salaries as well as their star status.

It would also be nice is Baron Davis ditched the shiny blue kicks. Those things are hideous.

A tale of two halves........

I thought the fist period went well and then we went cold and they red hot. BOth teams scored 50pts in second half.

Game was lost in the 2nd period when Nets went from 10 down to 10 up.

Anyone watch the game?

Melo was great first period but could not hit his shot or finish strong. LIn was trying too hard to work him in.

I thought not having SHump to help Lin hurt. We played good defense at times. The nets worked hard and got the 3 going.

I do like the trapping defense. Nets handled pretty well. We had a few moments in the 4th were we were forcing them but could not come up with the ball.

This game was not as bad as most are saying it was. You had to see it.

Why we lost:

1: We attacked the basket in the second half and did not convert our FT's.

2: We could not hit our mid range shots.

3: Nets executed their game. Our defense was good but they took what we gave them.

Team has no practice time and this is what we have done.

Lost Amare and Melo and inserted a new top 5 point guard (he playing like one!)

Reintroduced Amare and team is doing ok with him. Team is riding a high of LInsanity but now has to reintroduce Melo, and insert top talent JR and Baron.

JR looked brain dead to me and Baron was rusty. Melo was rusty.

Rust never sleeps.

I think there is a legit concern with the chemistry in the starting 5. Im kind of thinking back prior to Lin when we were not good. There is something wrong--balance-wise. Yes they can look good--but I dont know if this is the ultimate starting unit for this team. I think well be ok but there are a LOT of moving parts here. I think we could use another athletic strong 4/5 and a good player who specializes in defense is going to get minutes cit. Walker wont play
loweyecue @ 2/21/2012 11:56 AM
The only real issues I see now are STAT and backup PG. the second one can be solved sooner or later. Amare is officially spooking me. We have too much invested in him. If he can't earn that paycheck we are never going to win a championship. We can't kep finding Lin type players for short term roster spots and his contract doesn't allow us to do long term.

Yes, I know it's a tribute to his Grandmother but number 85? Really?

The shorts are too long and his beard is not working like it used to. Dude looks like a cartoon out there.

I think your right about chemistry. My solution...bring Amare off the bench, insert Jeffries and the defense and chemistry in the first unit will be ok. Amare was better off when he was playing center last season which, might have a little bit (not much) of the dip in production. Bring him off the bench at center to anchor the 2nd unit.

Yea, but its still the cousin of death...

how insane is it, the though of actually wanting Jarad to start is crazy. What a difference a decent point guard makes and, how sad is it that we have been starved of good point play since WELL before the Isiah era. You have to go back to Rod Strickland for that.
