Cause he sucked when he played!!!!!

He didn't turn the ball over every other possession. Yes, he didn't face the pressure Lin was facing. Regardless, D'Antoni should have given him more minutes this game and less minutes to Lin, ESPECIALLY in the first half when Lin was rattled and the momentum shifted completely to the Heat's side.

I can live with missed shots. But turnovers... that's a lost possession PLUS giving Miami a guaranteed basket. And you do you really think Baron would have the balls to chuck up 30 foot three-pointers with Melo and Amare on the floor? He does that sht with impunity with the bench unit, which is why I'm glad JR got more assertive last night and ignored him when he demanded the ball.

disagree they needed to let someone else bring up the ball and initiate the offense and let Lin get the ball after a few passes.

That's a decent idea. Bring JR Smith in and let him bring the ball up the floor.

The fact is this. We needed an adjustment. D'Antoni did NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. That's a coach that is supposed to lead us to a championship?

were we watching the same game? Wade and LeBron are HUMAN in the halfcourt. Stop turning the damn ball over and we win this game. We had 15 turnovers in the first half, Lin and Amare having 6 apiece. It's hard for me to believe Amare can rack up so many despite the offense not even running through him.

If you gus were watching the game, you would notice we played NO D in the 4th quarter. JR smith and novak brought us within 6 (76-82) then wade went off on and ran the score up to 76-90. MELO PHUCKS UP the offense with his shitty shot selection. He NEEDS to ATTACK THE RIM!!!

Dont get me started on amare. He played like shit. Get him a shrink to tell his problems to, glue him to the high post 14-16 ft away and make him take 500shots, then glue him along the base line same distance and make him shoot 500 more shots. this gu shoots enough bricks to build a NYC housing project.

We cut the lead with the bench unit's outside shooting. At that point, D'Antoni should have sent in Melo and Amare. Our defense was fine without the substitutions; we just got MANHANDLED on the boards with Novak at the 4.

Melo didn't fck up the offense, clown. He drained a jumper in LeBron's eye one iso. On other he got to the basket and hit Chandler for a wide open dunk. On another he hit a tough lay-up. Melo was our most effective offense in that point of that game, like it or not. It's like fans like you and MarburyAND1crossover are extensions of D'Antoni and can't bear any offense besides PG pnr, which clearly didn't work in that game.

MS @ 2/24/2012 12:58 PM
And the Knicks are a medicore/bad team right now.

Coming into the season everyone bitched and moaned about ESPN's predictions. We are in the 7/8th position right now and there are 16 teams with better records. Until they put it together and beat good teams we are a major dissapoint.

A stretch-4 would make a huge difference. As of right now, the lineup i think fits the best is Lin, Smith, Melo, Novak, and Chandler. That is a complete starting 5 for this system. I hope Stoudemire can turn things around fast, but he has contributed nothing to this team recently. Novak fits in great with a lineup that includes Lin, Melo, and Chandler and is coached by Dantoni.

Players go where the money is, remember that. He wanted his 100MM and no one was giving it to him. Carmelo wanted his money and he wanted this stage. When you have cap room players want to come to New York. Amare had nothing to do with Lin. We are 17-18 and are a medicore to bad team at the moment. We have 5 good wins all season long and have had the easiest schedule in the NBA.

Pointing out that Amare has been getting blocked at an alarming rate, doesn't make his jumper, can hardly dunk the ball, doesn't box out or hustle on a nightly basis doesn't make you insentive or classless. It's the truth of the situation. Whether it's his back or knee there is something wrong with the kid and it's very concerning.

LOL mediocre to bad team?

Do you know how many GOOD teams would have been blown out by a rested, motivated Miami in Miami on the 4th game in 5 nights? And it wasn't even a blowout. We should have had a lead coming into the second half. The game was still within reach near the end. We cut it to 8 points in the fourth quarter.

Word. MS you need to put down that crack pipe. We are way above average. We are building toward being an excellent team. But without camp, with many new players, it will take some time to get it all gellin.

This is a really good article on Melo. It gives a good explanation for why someone as talented as Melo could be inefficient on offense. I wish someone statistically oriented would go over this with Melo. The changes he'd need to make to become a much more effective player are not that complicated. I think he could get near the Wade/Lebron level on offense if he made some simple changes (and got healthy).

I've seen the article before. The truth is that MDA is much like Karl. They have no idea how to incorporate Melo within an offense, so instead they just give him the ball in his sweet spot and have everyone else clear out. There are no such things as curls or designed plays when it comes to Melo.

Melo is a much more versatile scorer now than then, with his newfound pnr play and willingness to defer.

It has to. He should be able to realize by now that he's bad at contested mid-range shooting. But since he doesn't, we need a coach or someone else in the organization to work with him on shot selection.

MS wrote:Dude you're 6'10 you go get the fucking ball. You challenge shots and you impose your will. Fitting in? It's basketball make your presence felt or sit on the bench, period.

Impacting the game comes in a variety of different ways. No one that size should ever average below 10 rebounds with that athleticism. Kevin Love leads the league in rebounds for what reason. He's smarter than almost all the other players at his position and he actually boxes out his man. Barkley was the same way. STAT never boxes anyone out he is always jumping for rebounds. It's not brain surgery it's basketball. Melo is should be grabbing 8 rebounds every game period.

And can we hit someone when they go to the basket. These guys always talk like tough guys and act like they want the world on their shoulders, but them they come out flat. Kris Humpries out hustled all our guys the other night, Melo like a chump tried to trip him, stat hit him after the whistle, Tyson tried to get in his head all while the crowd was yelling you suck and booing him everyone possession, but he was tough and owned our guys. That's the problem with this team.

Amare, go get the fucking ball and don't let Chris Bosh embarrass you and the team. You can't be a max guy if you're not a top player at your position. Which Amare isn't. Time to look in the mirror.

+1 Stat has been outrebounded by Lin twice in the last 3 games, I believe, including last night when we really needed him.

Defense and rebounding from our forward positions will dictate how far we go this year. And start JR over Fields, at least against elite teams.
