Knicks · Trade Deadline Approaching (page 1)

Knixkik @ 3/6/2012 6:19 PM
I have a feeling it is going to be a very quiet deadline compared to what we are used to. My question is, just for fun, what is the best realistic trade that could be made to improve the present/future of this franchise?

If i had to pick a trade right now, i would say Stoudemire and Fields to Orlando for Anderson, Turkoglu, and Richardson. There is no better deal in terms of balancing out our team. Gives Orlando a homegrown talent to play with Dwight. Plus rids them of Turk and Richardson's contracts. We would cut Richardson, but have 2 stretch-4s, and be able to put Shumpert in the starting lineup. Our rotation would suddenly be very balanced. Rotation would be:

C Chandler
PF Anderson
SF Anthony
SG Shumpert
PG Lin

6th Smith
7th Turkoglu
8th Davis
9th Novak
10th Jeffries/Harrellson

Any ideas?

AlexanderFuSheng @ 3/6/2012 6:22 PM
^^^^ If you mean the 'Richardson' we had a few seasons ago - fuck that!!
I hated that guy (Clippers, Suns...guy was an asshole).

That is the worst trade prop I've ever seen, btw.
We'd get 3 garbage players for Amare & Fields isn't as bad as everyone here seems to think.

Do you work for The Magic??

It would take a hell of a lot of Magic for The Knicks to be stupid enough to do that - Or else Isaiah would need to be here to do a dumbass move like that. Ugh!!!

skeng @ 3/6/2012 6:41 PM
Take out fields and you'd have somewhat of a case.

Plus, I'd rather have Novak and Jorts playing the minutes Turk and Anderson would take, and keep Fields and STAT as is. No way I want to trade Fields.

My idea for our trade deadline is don't trade anyone.

Read more carefully, we would cut Richardson, it is simply to fit the cap. And 3 garbage players? Have you seen what Anderson is doing this year? He would be perfect for this system. He is a more complete Steve Novak. We need players like that with Lin, Melo, and Chandler as the core group. Do a little homework before you bash to that extent. At this point in time, i would say Anderson is a more valuable player than Stoudemire considering age, contract, and current play. I would be more concerned with Orlando saying yes than New York. I think Orlando only considers because they are desperate to add the talent/best player to put next to Dwight possible.

Calm down, I wasn't insulting you. I just think it is a bad trade because givking up Amare for a Finished player (Turkoglu), 'Pooh' (Hate that fucker - waived or not), and Anderson (Maybe he temporarily caught Linsanity....He did nothing much in his career prior).I just think if you trade Amare, you need something coming back other than cap relief & an old dude and a semi-scrub.
Amare will get it back, i think. Maybe he doesn't, but I'd keep him because I think he will learn to fit pretty soon - it is a fucked up year with the strike & the back to back tobacks....whatever - I don't like the trade but it'sd all good. No offense intended.

It was no offense taken, i just think you don't have a very good grasp of Anderson as a player. He is not a semi-scrub or a player who has some sort of linsanity success. He is a 23-year old up and coming player who would fit this system to a tee. I'm not saying give up on Stoudemire, but we would be lucky to get a player of Anderson's value for him. If you don't want to trade him then i definitely understand that, because i am hoping he turns it around too. Anderson might be a player that the average NBA fan doesn't have much familiarity with, or much appreciation for, but all i'm saying is you should do a little research before such a strong comment on a trade involving players you clearly no nothing about. Anyone on this board would say Anderson is a very solid up-and-coming player.

AlexanderFuSheng @ 3/6/2012 7:16 PM
I don't have the NBA package, but I'll be interested to keep an eye on him now. I remember The Nets had him if i'm not mistaken.
Didn't do much, but he wasn't there long.
Very interesting going forward.
Moonangie @ 3/6/2012 7:35 PM

Yeah they only had him at the very beginning of his career. Just take a look at his stats for this season alone. He has gradually improved each year and his combined 3-point percents and makes, plus his rebound rates make him a very unique and effective player. His age also suggests considerable upside, especially based on the system.

Ryan Anderson is a 23 year-old stretch four that doesn't play defense, rebound or get to the basket. His upside is that he's a 43% three point shooter, but be's basically a less athletic STAT. Centering a STAT trade around him and Turk doesn't make the Knicks a better team.

I'm also not ready enough to anoint Jeremy Lin as a core player to trade Amar'e. Baron Davis is still a better player against good defensive teams on the road if you bothered to watch the Heat or Celtic games.

Wow, it would be easier to say I looked up his stats and "I think", rather than making false statements.

Ryan is a good rebounder, despite being at three point line often. And he does have a back to the basket game. He doesn't have the athleticism to be a guy that get's blocks but that doesn't make him a bad defender he is pretty good at help D.

I do think he would fit on this team right now better than stat.

Anderson has the same rebounding rate per 36 minutes as Amar'e Stoudemire does. I did look up the stats, man. I know he's limited defensively because Stan Van Gundy called him out in the media about it. The only difference between the two guys is that Anderson is a legitimate three point shooting threat and Amar'e is not, but I'd rather have Amar'e's pick and roll game and athleticism.

It's kind of like an all wheel drive car...with 5 wheels...if they don't all work together , you go 'round in circles a lot.

Ughhhhhh - -this is frustrating! this is why though early in the season, instead of being 8-15 they needed to be 15-8 - -the schedule is a nightmare! Celtics , Mavs, Spurs on the road - -all they needed to do was throw in the Heat again and the Bulls!
