Lin needs improvement but he will get better. Melo is not a horrible defender but he is not good and amare just sucks
Lin is trying too much on help defense, so his on the ball defense suffers. It also does not help when there no presences in the paint. Plus everyone is putting in an extra effort against Linsanity.
Vmart@ 3/10/2012 12:02 AM
If the Knicks play like this with Chandler's presence the Knicks will win more than lose.
SlimChin@ 3/10/2012 12:37 AM
more validation that melo and Amar'e are hurting this team.

The Defense turns to swiss cheese with STAT and Melo out there. But I think MDA can make it work if he limits their minutes just enough when the defensive unit is on the floor and doing well, he can just extend their minutes and it won't draw any ire.
Seriously, why is everyone afraid to say Lin has to do a better job keeping opposing guards out the lane...This isn't the UN...This is the UKKnick board where u get called out for not doing the job....Lin is a freaking horrible defender...The Knicks had to double the opposing PG..It's the game plan now...Then come here and blame Amare and Melo...Amazing...
horrible defender? come on man, he did a very good job on jennings tonight... jennings threw up his usually knick killing jumpers that seem to go in only vs the knicks. but lin did a very good job on him in the second half....

But reading the back biting with the trolls mixed is still a good read.

I don't think the Knicks can play like this with both Amare and Tyson on the floor. My guess is the coach doesn't either. The issue is that he won't slide either of them to the second unit. Amare coming off the bench might fix this team.
Moonangie@ 3/10/2012 1:11 AM
Fix it? He will become a crybaby and complain. But if he doesn't play D, he should ride he pine with minimal minutes. Rather see hungry competitors out there. Same for Melo, although it seems he's trying a bit harder. Neither of these guys are the kind of high-priced winners I thought we were buying.

Well that's why MDA gets 50million dollars, to make it work.

How the hell did Knicks lose even when Amare/Melo and JLin had a pretty good game overall????????

In the overall scheme of things this loss isn't that important. The team is gradually figuring things out. A complete performance on both sides of the ball and for 48 minutes is coming. I can see the seeds of a real team developing. Even in this loss I saw some good signs. I was upset, but after reflecting on it, I feel much better.
The defense will be there when we have a healthy Tyson and Jared, but the offense needs more time to gel. You could see some things that worked real well. It's not about the competition as much as the flow of the guys in certain groups. There will be home games coming up where this team can get some wins. I'm predicting that the Knicks will pass the Celtics this month. I Still think they have a shot to catch Philly even tho it's growing slim. 5.5 games back and a game on Sunday with Philly at the Garden.

Well, I sure hope whatever it was that they figured out last night can continue on into the next game against The Bulls because Knicks are moving dangerously close to losing 7 in a row.
Can you imagine the sort of media firestorm that will erupt if Knicks lose 7 in a row? it will be a complete 360 from when they won 7 in a row and they can't afford to lose 7 in a row let alone five in a row, or four in a row.
Last night game was as perfect as ever a game Knicks can hope for but that Dunleavy guy had to come out of nowhere and put up 25 freaking points.

Its over, people. Never in my wildest nightmare did I expect us to be so bad with our "stars" back. Never. But its true.
I don't agree with those like Simmons that say the opponents are just better now. We were supposed to lose to the Mavs and Lakers then, but didn't.
No, it isn't that. Lets say it in a simple way: during Linsanity, we had a balanced team play of guys that gave their heart out on defense and would've gone to hell and back following their leader Lin. Simple. They believed in Lin and Chandler. They fed off their play and went to a different level with them. We were a team that could take any team any day because it was running on all cylinders.
Then the stars came back, Lin was stripped from his leadership, because even though he is the PG, this is still Melo's and Amare's team. Guys reverted back to their levels because the play isn't simply the same. You think you can feed of a leader that doesn't try consistently to play D like Amar'e? You think you can feed of Melo when he plays Is mostly and also plays bad D?
Wish it was as simple as "Fire D'Antoni. Nah, he would actually be an asset here, but with another pair of stars. Ironic as it may, those two stars may already b here at PG and C.

In the overall scheme of things, Knicks should be trying to stop Bucks from taking the 8th seed. I don't know about you, but it's damn important. If we don't make the playoffs because of this game, will you still say it's not important? I mean sure, overall, it's not that important, unless you're the Bucks at 9th seed trying to bump Knicks out of playoff.

Sorry to bring some reality back here, but that might have happened if they split the road trip. The Knicks will either be in the 8th seed or miss the playoffs

Another someone can't play with someone. First it was Amare can't play with Melo. Than Melo can't play with Lin and now Amare can't play with Chandler. They will have to learn to do that. I use to think that the perfect MDA center would be one that can jack up three and let Amare man the paint on offense. They will have to co exist because last year Turiaff and Mozgov manned the middle and Amare was getting off. I think Amare is find his legs now and he will coexist better with Chandler.

We lost this game because of Amare and Melo's defense. Simple as that.

I tell you what. Watching Amare play defense and knowing that he played with Nash all of those years, it makes me wonder if we under-rate Bell, Marion, etc as defenders and also pushes me to the fact that MDA may have pushed the right offensive buttons for those teams to burst past San Antonio and whomever else they beat in a couple of those years to make it to WCF.... and game 7's too.
Amare at C and Nash at PG, 2 integral parts of any defense and holy crap he is garbage.
