Knicks · can we please trade Melo while there is value before the rest of the league realizes he's the next Vince Carter? (page 5)

Have you watched a game? The good folks at the Old Oxford Dictionary are thinking of putting a video clip of 'Melo under the heading "pout", it's that obvious.

here's what i want to do - trade melo before he destroys a fun team that likes playing together for the SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR in NY with his selfishness.

think about: last year, gallo, ray, wilson, amar'e, etc were passing, sharing, winning, over .500 and were FUN.

this year: jlin, tyson, shump, amar'e, jeffries, novak were passing, sharing, DEFENDING, winning, 9-1 and were FUN.

melo destroyed both. i'm sick of his pouting and not actually playing with any joy or success.

those two team he's destroyed were the only prolonged stretch of over .500 basketball this team has seen FOR THE PAST TEN YEARS.

the Linsanity Knicks held 10 straight opponents to under 100pts - something that had not been done since the JVG/Camby Knicks. Impossible as that sounds, it is true.

Melo needs to go. Now.

franco12 @ 3/13/2012 4:25 PM
I'd like to think our management sees this. They were smart and forward thinking to get Chandler. Can they convince Dolan to dump Melo, that Lin can be his money making star machine?

I think this is what we have to pray for as Knick fans. And with Dwight Howard possibly moving, there should be a way to move him and get picks and maybe cap room or a young star.

So last year prior to the Melo trade:

28 game sample:

Before: 12-16
After: 14-14

So they had moments where they looked really good last year (prior to the trade) just like when we went 8-1. Then they were 12-16 before the deadline, can't blame everything on Melo.

And, we see that the Knicks can look great (prior to Melo) and than go back to crappy basketball - EVEN WITHOUT MELO.

My point: I think Melo is part of the big problem and is a big problem but don't let it disguise the other drek because its an easy scapegoat to make us feel better.

yeah, but last year's team had a 13-game winning streak, too.

this year the team is 9-1 during Linsanity and 9-23 during Melodrama.

Way to cherry pick from an ugly tree.

Fact: before Trade, Gallinari's Knicks were 28-26, a record that was made dirty with some ugly losses during the Black Cloud Trade Rumor days.

he means they were 12-16 while everyone on the team was panicking that dolan would trade half the team for melo.

Oh, he's talking about the 28 games before the trade deadline? Wow! How about this: In their first game after the trade, the team went 1-0. Extrapolated over an 82 game season, that corresponds to a record-setting 82-0.

I took the 28 games prior to trade against the 28 games post trade (WHICH WAS ALL THERE WAS - SMFH). How is that not a valid comparison? Nice try though.

Oh I forgot the KIDS WHO WERE GONNA BE TOUGH ENOUGH TO WIN US A CHAMPIONSHIP WERE SCARED (for 28 EFFIN GAMES!!!!!!) BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

If we tried our team with Karl then yes.

Edit: Sorry that was a weak response.

Denver was 30-22 before and definitely better after at 17-7. No one can argue that they got better after but I was still for the trade because we woulda lost Chandler anyway and Felton for Billups(/Chandler) ... no point in arguing this, I believe that they gave up too much and coulda done it for less. Or, done the same trade for DWil which woulda have been miles better.

My point before was if you took the 28 games before and the 28 games with Melo after. Melo did not make the Knicks worse. That is for sure. And maybe that was because of Billups too? Certainly.

And let us not forget that Melo was double teamed all playoffs with JJ being the failed benefactor and he had a 42 point game and averaged 10.3 rebounds.

I would trade Melo for many players at this point because he does not fit here. But, nobody can deny that offensively, he has been at the top of the league for years.

I am no great Melo fan but I HATE that he is being used as a scapegoat in protecting MDA from sharing the blame. So when, people are willing to say that they are both at fault or they are both flawed, I will be in complete agreement with them. If they just want to where blinders and be partisan just to be right then I take up issue with that.
