Lin is now disproving the myth that he can only be good in the sole system of MDA.

HE IS NOW MAKING HIMSELF MILLIONS IN SHOWING THAT HE IS NOT JUST A ONE COACH HORSE.

Trust me, that label was not good and I am sure he did not appreciate the LINSANITY IS DEAD idea after MDA quit. He needed to prove that it was Jeremy Lin that made Jeremy Lin Jeremy Lin and not Mike D'Antoni.

holfresh @ 3/18/2012 12:15 PM
Lin is the real deal and u could see he is going left now and tried using his left hand for a lay in...His upside is huge on top of a good rookie season..Kid was an absolutely great find..

Seriously. Lin might mean to the Knicks what guys like Ginobli and Parker mean to the Spurs one day.

nixluva @ 3/18/2012 1:30 PM
Lin was never really ONLY good in this system. Clearly he had success in H.S. and College playing in different ways. The dude does a little of everything and those skills and talents can translate well to a lot of styles of play. It's good for a young PG to learn different things and to grow from it. This will only benefit Lin's growth as a player and leader.
misterearl @ 3/18/2012 1:53 PM
Imagine what happens if Iman Shumpert dedicates himself to developing a dependable jump shot

Release the hounds!

Its just been three games. Knicks have yet to have the real "new look" in place.

Linsanity was destined to die off anyway as he assimilated into the league. He could not humanly continued at that pace.

what is not really talked about is Baron being in the mix.

In a world of right vs wrong its a lame arguement to compare so early.

NBA players will say what we want to hear, and since its about "what we go with going forward" then lets be real here. The guys are all confident after 3 games and fans are drinking it up.

woodson wil fine tune to take the best of what MDA did and the team will get a rhythm going.

Feeling good about MDA gone is a game by game proposition.

Moving forward.......

You wont be happy if your wife warden ain't happy...Believe that..

I know they both mean pretty much the same thing, but I felt compelled to make the change anyway. But yeah, even Phil had to put up with a few Kobe isos very now and then in order to get Kobe to go along with the Triangle at times. And even then, it was still a struggle at times. But Phil still succeeded because he is coach and he wants to win.

markvmc - You have it backwards. The Knicks shot 53 per cent from the field against Portland and 50 per cent from the field against The Pacers in the first game at home. You simply cannot just throw random ish out there to make a point. Sorry.

I don't know why you don't get this. Prior to the firing, everyone was in a negative situation. The new coach gives everyone a lift. A fresh start, the gloom lifted. They're optimistic and confident going into their next games. That's part of why they shot better against Portland and the first game of the pacers--the cloud of negativity and gloom was lifted, and they were optimistic, and thus confident.

This effect, as has been noted several times since D'Antoni resigned, is quite common in all sports. Teams often play better, at least for a while, after the losing coach is replaced.

Whatever you want to attribute winning to is fine. I don't really care why but if getting rid of the coach is/was what was needed to kick start this abundantly talented team so that we can make the playoffs then so be it. I don't care who the coach is ... IF HE WINS HERE. And I don't care why he's winning - JUST WIN and we will all be happy. Or, at least most of us will be happy.

That's exactly right, because Carmelo acted like a woman.

IF this is true Melo acted like a woman, then for sure Mike D'Antoni acted like his _B%*%%tch

That dont get no respect around the league nor got it consistently in the clubhouse is reason 1/2 locker left building
on the "given too much credit" Mike D'Antoni regime.

Do not know any other coach saying same thing for 3-4 yrs
'Its broken' but we will fix it' We'll get it right quoting D'Antoni.

Players got adjust to coach & coach don't gotta adjust to players went out the window in the late 1980's.
All successful coaches adjust to players skills when they try to teach the game and their hoops philosophy.
Phil Jackson did it. Rudy Tomjanovich and Greg Popovich did it. Pat Riley did it as did Doc Rivers and
Rick Carlisle.

Reason all them legend coaches has NBA title rings with their teams or are in the mix each yr. for championship runs.

MDA a gritty role player back in his pro hoops days. HE needed to adjust and apply that gritty-ness to both sides of the ball defensively as well as offensively in his intent game plans.

MarburyAnd1Crossover @ 3/18/2012 3:40 PM
D'Antoni was a superstar in Italy! Role player?! Earl Boykins is a role player.

Look at the low-top Converse this guy is wearing in the picture. That's hardcore, bro. Have you played in a pair of low-top Converse?

Guy had a vision but Carmelo went Diva and destroyed the vision, he spit on the vision.

He shoulda had the vision that he was being fired/asked to resign and then maybe he woulda given a big enough sh1t to change his stubborn ways.

Just my opinion but it looks like Woody is coaching his ass off just to show how bad of a coach MDA was and how much he disagreed wih Sir Genius.

DJMUSIC @ 3/18/2012 3:45 PM
Yep
we've played hoops in both low & hi tops Converse
Melo Anthony is gonna make his new vision call it Y2K+12 future Knicks title(s) & shoe/sneaker contract of choice

MrKnickShot - or perhaps Mike Woodson is a more intelligent and persuasive head coach

managing people is not rocket science, or diagrams on a dry erase board - it is an art form

The Elephant In The Freakin' Room

Forget Carmelo.

Has anyone considered that Mike Woodson has made Tyson Chandler a more inspired basketball player?

Note Chandler's involvement in the offense?

"It's everything from defensive rebounding to rotations to blocked shots to talking. I've known every screen that's been coming pretty much in the last two games. I've heard it from the big men. They're calling it out. They're active, so it's very collective right now and when that's going, it's scary."

You give the big man touches and he responds.

It ain't that deep. or is it?

fishmike @ 3/19/2012 9:29 AM
team is playing like a team. Too bad it was because a star player quit on a decent coach but its part of this business and culture. Doesnt mean the next guy cant be right or a better fit. The team is playing well right now and thats all that matters.

Linn still looks great to me. His m2m defense is pretty weak but his help is execellent and he's strong in all other areas including rebound. He's high IQ high effort guy. Nothing not to like

misterearl @ 3/19/2012 9:36 AM
fish.mike - you have been around sports (and Knicks basketball) long enough to know that things are never so simple as one player quitting.

The best way to reward a big man for blocking a shot is to pass him the ball. Tyson Chandler gives the offense balance.

Expect Lin to log a triple double in April. His rebounding is astounding.

The highest IQ/ high effort guy is Jared Jeffries. Iman Shumperts defensive intelligence is off the charts. His anticipation, combined with a Rolls Royce body, is a beautiful thing.

If JR Smith can stay motivated to play defense, get your caramel popcorn ready.

Steve Novak's "in the gym" range reminds me of Jerry Lucas

Nice comments.

Shump to me is more the athletic gift but to have some intelligence to fuel it is a must. Long arms, quick and fundamentals gets it done. The kid strips the ball fantastic with a low foul rate given his attempts.

Novack range is impressive but he is in not even in the same gym as Jerry Lucas. I looked up his career a few months ago and was astonished at what he did. Dude is solid HOF!

Novack catch and shoot is quite impressive. I hope he can teach it to Carmelo.

misterearl @ 3/19/2012 10:53 AM
GustavBahler - props back at you for understanding the angles. You hit the open man.

Nalod - you ever watch how Shumpert gets low and drop steps into his defensive stance like a cobra? The Lakers may have the black mamba... we have The Chocolate Cobra.

... and yes, Stevie Wonder is no Jerry Lucas in terms of overall game, but he spreads the floor nearly to halfcourt. Can you imagine what Lucas would have done with a three point line? Ridiculous.

Would Brainy brotha (nobody memorizes a city phone book) Jerry Lucas make a perfect shot doctor for Landry Fields?

Every time Mike Bibby makes a jumper, a Harlem Globetrotter pulls the confetti in the water bucket trick.
