Apparently the 6-3 Martin who had been suspended from school for having a bag of marijuana beat the sht out of Zimmerman and went for his gun--a 13 year old eye witness has confirmed this story. When police arrived on the scene--they found Zimmerman bleeding from the back of his head and nose. In the uS we must listen to all facts before a rush to judgement.

You just don't get it, black people are scary and life-threatening just by the very fact of them being black. Therefore, if a not black person hunts and kills a black person it's in self-defense; if that same black person fights back then he had it coming, he should have known better than to fight back. In fact, I would go so far as to say that any black person that's being hunted has a responsibility to flee from their attackers and not stand their ground.

If the eyewitness is legit this adds a very tragic twist.

No matter how wrong Zimmerman was for his pursuit, if he was attacked then he won't be bought up on any serious charge.

Its a tragic occurance no doubt.

Justice won't bring that young man back and even if he did attack Zimmerman, he did not have "It" coming. Two wrongs don't bring anyone back.

I hope justice is served no matter how we might prefer the outcome.

Personally I was enraged like most but if the question of if Zimmerman was attacked does change things.

Neighborhood watch protocal need to be revisted regardless. Zimmerman was wrong but Zimmerman was scared. He should not have patroling with a gun. He is not a cop.

If Zimmerman was so scared, he should have heeded the request of the 911 operator and backed off and allowed the real law enforcement to do the jobs they were paid to do. Thats what a normal citizen would have done.

No doubt Zimmerman is at some fault here and Im thinking "manslaughter" at some level. Neighborhood watch should not have a gun on him. The 911 call does make him liable as he was told to stand down. What happened is a tragic congruence. Zimmerman for his pursuit and the kid for confronting him, and if he attacked Zimmerman he is at fault for taking Zimmermans stupidity to the next level. Trayvon if he had a cell phone could have called the police if he was being pursued. Easy to say in hindsight.

No, you're just overlooking the basic fact that all white people are bigoted, faggoty, gun-toting racist pigs who have it out for black people because white people suffer first and foremost from whiteness. So the whole melanin-envy thing means that any white person being asked if they have a problem should immediately surrender their gun to the man and wait patiently for the proper authorities. I would also go so far as to say that this administration should pass laws relegating all non-blacks to living within 2 blocks of their local police station, so any incidents that may incite pigment-envy reaction from non-blacks can be immediately handled properly by the local police authorities who we all know have always handled racially charged incidents with peace and beauty.

Funny, I wonder how big of a story this would be if Zimmerman were black? What if Martin was white? How come no NBA teams are wearing hoodies for the yoots that get shot every f-ing day in neighborhoods all over the country?

Zimmerman's an idiot who deserves to get life in prison. Minimum. He took a life. He needs to pay.

MSG3 @ 3/28/2012 9:53 AM
No way this guy should have been carrying a gun on a neighborhood watch. I don't know much about the neighborhood but it doesn't sound like Compton circa 1992. And a life was taken. This thing is indescribably tragic. But no one knows what went down at the point of the shooting. Everything that led to that point was wrong and Zimmerman needs to do time for the fact that he pursued an unarmed kid while in possession of a fire arm. But if there was a fight and Trayvon went for the weapon, Zimmerman saw an excuse to unload on him.

The race aspect of this is undeniable though and anyone who says otherwise is being naive. From what has been reported, Zimmerman had no reason to floow the kid, other than the fact that he was a black person wearing a hoodie.

Right, first it's racial, then it's a gun rights issue. Ever hear of Lakewood, NJ? Largest Hasidic neighborhoods on the planet. It's not exactly Compton circa 1992 either. Know what? The bad guys have guns, and they unload them all the time. I had bloodtrails around my home and heard shots going off all the time. Please don't make this about gun rights. If Zimmerman killed Martin with a broken candle, would that make things any better?

Really briggs it doesn't matter... Zimmerman was told that he should not be following him. He approached martin armed.. shouldn't the stand your ground rule apply here for martin? he had the right to defend himself against an armed man whom he saw as a threat... and he didn't get caught with a bag of weed briggs, the bag had marijuana residue... yea, you are right, we should get all of the facts, that applies to everyone, even on this forum....

The facts are, zimmerman commited a murder.. Plain and simple....

actually nalod, the same defense zimmerman is trying to use really applies to martin "stand your ground".. martin never approached zimmerman, so therefore he was not the aggressor, he was "standing his ground".

the same thing applies if a guy approaches you with a gun asking for your walled, and you decide to fight him off, if he shoots you, he is still guilty for murder.. zimmerman had no legal right to approach this kid.. that is the point.. it doesn't matter if martin was beating his fat ass into the ground, martin was defending himself from a man with a gun who was imposing upon his safety as far as he was concerned..

Nalod @ 3/28/2012 11:51 AM

Looks like this is a two part event.

1. Zimmerman was racial profiling on a neighborhood watch. His intervention was racially motivated.

2. The confrontation was intiated by Zimmerman and was clearly wrong. This is where He should have backed off, and if possible where Martin calls the police to say he is being stalked and confronted. Im not saying Martin was wrong.

3. Verbal jabs are one thing. But if Martin was in fact beating Zimmerman as now reported and perhaps backed up by a witness, then this is where it takes a huge turn legally. Remember, right or wrong the florida law is the law. We can argue the law all we want but the law exists. IF Martin was beating Zimmerman Martin becomes liable at that moment despite all that transacted up to that moment. Yes Zimmerman provoked him into a confrontation but we don't know exactly what happened. Was this a sweet innocent kids on his way to his pops house to watch a game, drink iced tea and eat skittles but could not tell this guy "hey, im going to my pops around the corner, why you following me?" Or, "Im calling the cops", or simply keep walking? Instead he confronted Zimmerman. If he confronted him with a beat down, Im not saying he deserved to be shot by any stretch, but Trayvon transferred the liability form Zimmerman to himself.

THe issue is what crime was commited by Zimmerman? If he provoked the kid into a confrontation he is liable up to the moment he gets hit.

but not under the florida "stand your ground" law... Martin was well within his rights in this case under that law.. the same law zimmerman is trying to apply on his behalf here..

I know I am repeating myself, but the florida law support martin" stand your gound".. zimmerman was following martin, martin was within his constitutional rights to be where he was that night.. zimmeran was stalking him, armed at that... martin in essence was protected under that florida law, even though he was beating martin up..

Jord....the last part you cut out from my comment wasn't meant to say it was a good reason to follow the kid. What I'm saying is that Zimmerman followed the kid because he was black and wearing a hoodie. That was HIS reason, not a good reason. Sorry if you took it the wrong way.

I have heard of Lakewood. I grew up in Howell, NJ. Why can't this be about multiple things? It's a race and a gun control issue. This HAS to be about both things. Obviously the more tragic one is that there are people in the world that are still racist to a point where people die over it. But the gun control aspect of it is very important as well.

What does this have to do with Lakewood NJ and an hassidic community? Do hassidics carry guns? Do they not?

yep true something good LBJ and nba did to pay homage to unfortunate killing of a youth
its sad though these things are highlighted it of course cannot bring back the young man whom lost his live
to a foolish act & never changes anything about authority shootings OR lack of authority decisions

This is unfortunate and the way of world we live in is slipping backwards to the darkest side in USA
