Knicks · If this was the other way around--it would be racial (page 1)
and Spike Lee would be giving out the parents p#. In this case its just a legit ass kicking for no apparent reason.
TheloniusMonk wrote:Teenagers fight in sports all of the time. Hell, adults do it. And she should be disciplined. But are you actually comparing teenagers fighting in a game to an actual murder? I don't see the connection between this clip and the murder of Trayvon Martin. You've put this on a Knick message board for a reason I am assuming. What is your angle here?
Not comparing the crime--I'm comparing the outrage following this act. I believe if it was the other way around--an African American female getting beaten up quite badly by a Caucasian--this would've been a huge racial incident. In this case--its just a beat down that will go unnoticed except for youtube.
I believe the law that allowed this act to perpetuate to be the problem in the Travyon Martin case. I think that people have used *race* to loosely. This was an Hispanic man and an African American male--not exactly what is considered race bias for the most part in our country. The law allowing Zimmerman to carry the gun and use it--that is the major problem and the people who put it into law should be held accountable and the law immediately needs to be changed. Let's let the facts come out about this case and then let justice have it's way. I'm in no corner--I just tend to look forward to seeing a world without race issues

I'm sure he'll get what's coming to him. Not so with Zimmerman. See the difference?

The outrage has more to do with a kid being killed and his (grown man) killer being free and not charged at all. And I agree it has to do with an unjust "law". And in the end, THAT'S where the outrage is. It's with the fact that this CAN happen and probably WILL happen again. For some of you, it would take for this to happen to someone that looks like YOU (or your family members) for you to want the laws to be changed. Yea, world without racism:
Police are investigating a possible race hate attack after a 13-year-old boy was doused in gasoline and set on fire. The teenager, who suffered first degree burns to his face and hands, is white and his two attackers black.

I have never heard of this case. Why do YOU think media (which is control mainly by white Americans) has ignored this? And yes, it IS outrageous. And when you ask the question "Where is the outrage?", you do realize that YOU are part of the same society that isn't acting upon their outrage, right? Or are you just using this murder as a rubuttal to Trayvon's murder? Here is the fact with this. Apparently, the killers have not been identified. That's the difference here. There is no one to charge here, apparently. Here is the question: Did you notice the first line of what you just posted? "Police are investigating....." which means they are looking. Which probably means those people are going to jail when caught. And depending on the law in that city, they may never get out. Thanx for posting this. I will follow it. And I'm sure it will be a testiment to what happens when a "killer" is caught. Jail time, maybe death penalty (depending). Not so with Zimmerman. His identity is known, and he is free, and Trayvon is dead. Do you see the difference?

Thats cool. My take is that the law that permitted Zimmerman to walk around with a gun and have the ability to claim a self-defense is the major problem. If Zimmerman was not allowed to have a gun--maybe this is just a fist fight as well. Race has nothing to do with a law that is rogue. Incidents between races happen--all of them rape murder assault etc.. that go unnoticed every day. Why is this case so special and we don't even know all of the facts? Does anyone here know all facts to this case--no. What we do know is that a young man is dead and he was killed by another man who was allowed under Florida law to carry and USE his weapon---that my friend is the problem

Ehhhh I see what's happening here. You're ignoring the main parts of my posts in hopes to make a moot point. I see. The fact that you'd like to ignore that in one of your cases the person is being charged and in the other case the person (people) are being searched for, is unfortunate. Police are involved and their job is being done on those cases. The system is seeking justice against those killers. I guess you'd just rather just ignore the fact that the outrage lies in that Trayvon was murdered and the killer is "known" and the killer is free while the victim is dead. Totally different from your examples. I'll leave it alone now. I thought we were going to actually discuss some facts here. Hold on to whatever it is you're holding onto if you'd like. I'll just sum it up in one sentence: I "haven't heard" of those cases because the actual process of law and order is actually at work.

It doesn't bother you that an unarmed kid was obliterated by the fire arm of a man and it's "ok"? That doesn't bother you? If not, it should. It could happen to YOU if that's the case. And right now, it is seemingly only really bothering the people that look like Trayvon. Or the people who "get" it. Not rocket science. I think you're acknowledging that it is not just and then there is a "but" there. Injustice is injustice. The law needs to change and the man needs to be in jail. But for some reason, there is a disconnect with some people.
