it's that type of tit for tat selfishness that keeps Melo from being one of the greats.

haha! btw, MDA ran Amare into the ground playing him 40+ minutes a game. He would have done the same for Lin. The guys substitutions always bothered me.

Baron still wasn't ready at that point so i dont think he had much choice but to play lin that many minutes.

Woodson is making use of Bibby, almost 10 minutes a game.

Dantoni was playing Lin for 45mins a game during Linsanity so it is no surprise that he is now out with a sore knee. Having never played meaningful minutes before other than garbage time
Clean @ 3/30/2012 2:05 PM
He has had this problem since the offseason. That is why he has always wore a knee brace while he was with us. This was the reason why he sat out his second game in the D-league this year.

MDA did that with everyone.

He may have played them a lot but the he does make point gurads better. As a point guard i would like to play in his system. Im not saying he should be here at all im just saying many point guards have said taht they like to play in that system despite heavy minutes

MDA drove STAT to the ground last yr too when he averaging 30 pts a night playing 40 min. wouldn't be surprised if that was a factor leading to his current back problems.

this is complete and utter BS. Please at least look up the stats before you post a claim like this.

Didn't MDA play Lin one game 45 out of 48 minutes? Oh yea, Utah! FUKING D'ANTONI!

One thing he did do was choose not to rest the starters at the end of the season when we had our position locked up. He said he would want to keep momentum going into the playoffs. I am not sure how much that momentum helped us.

well when you look back at that we didnt play horrible. We lost two games we should have won. We also lost amare and billups the entire series and had no depth so i dont think resting the starters had to do with anything. Amare hurt himself stupidly doing a 360 dunk in practice and billups hurt himself at the end of game 1

I actually prefer that approach. The example I always like to fall back on is Tom Coughlin playing the starters in a virtually meaningless week 17 match up vs. the Patriots. Giants played them hard and caught fire at the right time heading into the playoffs. (In case anyone some how missed it, those were the 2007 Champion Giants...)

ya resting the starters does seem to backfire a lot in my opinion

That Giant team was amazing. I gave them 0% chance to win that superbowl.

I did the same with the 2011 team...funny how much this past season mirrored '07.

Amare played a lot of minutes early last year he was already declining a few weeks before the Melo trade. I remember fans and the commentators saying how he didn't have the same lift and explosiveness as he had during the 30pt streak
Bippity10 @ 3/30/2012 4:08 PM
Taking away the games where he was just getting garbage time Lin played 36 minutes per game under D'Antoni. Taht would put him aroudn 20th in the league. There are about 10 starting PG's playing very similar minutes. In summary there was nothing out of the ordinary about the minutes he played. It's okay to dislike D'Antoni. But I can't stand the falsehoods.

Amare adn Carmelo are averaging around 33 minutes per game. That puts them around 50th. This is the least amount of minutes Carmelo has ever averaged.

Amare last year
October 36.6 minutes, 24.3 points, 52%
November 39.5 minutes, 29.8 points, 54%
December 36.1 minutes, 25.7 points, 45%
January 35.4 minutes, 24.3 points 54%
February 37.2 minutes, 24.3 points 50%

its the excessive pounding and lack of respect from the refs that is the issue - not minutes. That's insane. He did play excessive minutes during Linsanity but we had no choice - who else was gonna play?
