What delusion are you living in? Lin averaged 35-36 minutes a game same as bunch of other PGs. Does it feel good to make stuff up so you can keep beating on a dead horse?
But that was a huge increase without any preparation.. I'm not saying that caused the injury, though.
Torn meniscus is a trauma injury and not a wear injury! It can happen due to a knee twist not just by normal running up and down.
Very true. I remember lin landed funny on his knee one of his last games so that may have caused the tear

Baron Davis has been a lot of things, but he ain't never been, and never will be, a savior.
Minimally, Davis is a functional caddie to Carmelo. At best, he would get the ball to Tyson Chandler where he can operate. Period.
Read the historical posts, my friend. Answer Man needs to do some research to get in Playoff Shape.

If BDizzle lost any more steps he would be running in reverse.
Which is my statement exactly. Answer Man don't read!
misterearl wrote:jrodmc wrote:Q. Maybe with Melo playing the semi-point-forward position, we don't need anything better at PG than Shump?
A. Shumpert, slthough he can cameo advancing the pill, is not a lead guard. Has anyone seen Rick Brunson?
Again, with a semi-[I say, I say SEMI] point forward getting a few dimes per half, maybe we don't need Shump to be lead PG.
Rick Brunson? Butch Beard would be the better choice.
misterearl wrote:jrodmc wrote:Q. And Baron goes back to the bench where he can be the auto-ignition for JR every game?
A. "auto-ignition for JR"? Can you please say that in basketball terms?
BDiddy entering the game mid-second quarter....oh look, it's two Clipper-esque lobs to JR-I-CAN-LOOK-DOWN-AT-THE-RIM-TOO Smiff. Then my Lakewood HS brightest son starts that whole "creating my own space nightmare" and blowing past people, and hits a 3 at the buzzer before halftime.
That clear things up for the A-Man?

The two may not be mutually exclusive. The more worn out the meniscus is, the more easily it will tear.

I am an attorney not a doctor like you guys but I believe that tired or worn muscles can lead to any injury being that the support system has weakened.
A kid as young as Lin isn't a good candidate for a worn down Meniscus. Despite his lack of playing experience Lin was not out of shape. We all read how hard he worked on his conditioning all summer. People are acting like they just had Lin sitting on the bench and not working on his conditioning before he started playing. They had him doing extra work and he even went to the D league for work. This is a freak injury and there's no way to know exactly what caused it, but according to all the medical descriptions it's a sudden trauma injury most of the time.
What happens with a meniscus tear (torn cartilage)?
The two most common causes of a meniscus tear are due to traumatic injury (often seen in athletes) and degenerative processes (seen in older patients who have more brittle cartilage). The most common mechanism of a traumatic meniscus tear occurs when the knee joint is bent and the knee is then twisted. It is not uncommon for the meniscus tear to occur along with injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and the medial collateral ligament (MCL)-these three problems occurring together are known as the "unhappy triad," which is seen in sports such as football when the player is hit on the outside of the knee.

But look who's behind him Bibby? Douglas? wouldn't be surprised if Baron is next to go on the DL. and i'm sorry Shump isn't a PG.
Agreed but he can get the assists totals up as well as his dismal shooting percentage we'd be much better off. I think he has some gas left in the tank and considering this week is a light as far as games it will give him a chance to rest the hammy.
Averaging 5.5 assists is great considering the minutes Davis been playing. I hate putting the pressure on Shumpert, but he's going to have to fill in for a good 15 to 20 minutes at point guard for us. I hope he payed attention to Lin.

His assists (5.1) are good but his turnovers are too high. He's averaging 5.0 turnovers per 36 minutes.

This doesn’t mean the Knicks will necessarily be worse off, just drastically different and, to a purist’s eyes, much less aesthetically pleasing. - Howard Beck, NYT
The Knicks are 8-2 in their last ten and Mike Woodson is coaching his ass off. Howard Beck was leading the "woe is us" parade when Woodson was hired.
Aesthetically pleasing?
SSOL was an out of control, undisciplined hot mess.
Yeah, I said it.
Beat Indiana.
the only thing woody added was a few more post up lays for melo and amare.
MDA did the same thing, but TD would force the issue, waisting valuable seconds trying to get to melo, instead of going with play B.
Again.. i still don't relize why the media doesn't relize this is not going to run like a well oil machine after limited practice's and 11 new guys on a team..
It's over. You couldn't stick a thermometer in this bird it's so cold.
The season is saved- I think bill walker is back! I might of misheard, but I think on the video interviewing coach at today's practice on knicksnow.com, he said billy is available for the indiana game and may play some PF (it's a bad audio so I could be wrong).
Joking aside, I know walker kind of sucks but for some reason I do like him as a player- we need miraculous contributions from him and TD to get to the playoffs, which doesn't exactly fill me with confidence, but we can but hope...

It's not over until it's over.
This season has more twists and turns to come. Why? Because they give effort on defense each and every night. MarburyAnd1 wants it to be over because Carmelo is touching the ball too much and we all know that Publice Enemy Number 7 will never, ever lead a team anywhere but the crapper, right?
Wrong.
Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!"
It ain't over.
We lost some names in the lineup, but this team is playing as well as it ever did this season. 8-2! Jared should hopefully return quickly to help bolster the
number 4 defense in the league! Miami is looking a little more vulnerable lately...just sayin'.
I can't agree with the season being over, given the way this team has come together and fought thru so much this year. These players have really bonded and they still get after it. As we get a few guys back that should be enough to help get over the hump. They're still within striking distance, but of course there is a really tough early April stretch. The Knicks won't be the only ones with an April challenge!!! That's why I think they still have a chance. This season is proving that you can never have too much depth.
Tales From The Unexpected
nixluva - some forget that Bill Walker was an important component during Linsanity. So was Jared Jeffries. They will be back.
So long as Baron Davis "does no harm", by trying to get too cute, we can hang with our defense.
Get the ball to Novak.

Man, if you take a step back and think this is a really deep team. Going through stretches without Melo and STAT and then going through a stretch without Jeffries, Lin, STAT, and Walker with two banged up front court players and still giving great effort on D is amazing. I know people do not like him but if Walker comes back that would help out a bunch on D just to help Fields out on nights without having to use Shump to rotate guarding 1-3.
Walker >>>>>>>>>> Toney Douglas
