Like it's easy to say he's scoring point, a Marbury but with a couple more assists, just something about his game that's a turn off. There's just something wrong when your point guard is leading your team in scoring every night (No offense to Linsanity).
With Brook lopez being out most of the year, who, other than Deron has the capability to lead that team in scoring? That team is awful. When Deron was in Utah, surrounded by much better talent, Boozer actually lead the team in scoring. Williams scoed out of necessity on the Nets.
BTW, Isiah Thomas, one of the top 4 pgs' of all time lead his team in scoring on more than several occasions.
I know about the injuries and such in NJ, but if you watch him play, you'll notice he looks to score more than your prototypical point guard. Jason Kidd/John Stockton/Mark Jackson/Magic Johnson/Steve Nash/CP3 is what I have in my mind when I think of point guards. Deron is in the mold of the hybrid scoring point like Gary Payton/Kevin Johnson/Isiah Thomas/Allen Iverson/Stephon Marbury/Sam Cassell/Derrick Rose/Russell Westbrook or "Combo Guard". Just more of an aesthetic thing for me, as there's nothing wrong with being a scoring point, just I prefer the traditional "Quarterbacks". Call me old school.
Trade for Deron Williams? Nope.

Dude, not cool. I gave you mine because you kept begging for it. Now you want to trade it for almost nothing? Not cool man... I should've sold mine in one of those vending machines in Japan...
AnubisADL wrote:Guys are cracking jokes but the Nets are moving to a new stadium and Gerald Wallace and Lopez arent going to sell tickets.Dallas is going to get Deron Williams for free and the Nets will be left with nothing.
Lopez
Amare
Wallace
????
Lin
is the best they are going to get.
They could always take their chance in the draft... Oh wait they traded their picks.
I'd rather keep Amar'e and hope he gets healthy. No one is going to trade for Stat. That simple. And for all the Wallace bashing I see out there I'd trade Melo for him straight up. Wallace is a DAMN good team player. I bet I get blasted for the last... but I'd still do it...and take the picks from 2016 or whenever and the money.

Healthy Lin = What we need.
Melo for DWill and Wallace would solve both issues
Amare still has 3 years of solid play in him. No way is he going to be worth 60 million though. Nor can he be relied on to be healthy with a bad back.
Now look at the Nets alternatives. Lose Williams for nothing or take overpaid Amare and Lin and ride them for the next few years while they establish a fanbase. The Nets are going to need to put bodies in seats next year.
I think Deron would agree to a s&t to the Knicks. We'd still have a Melo and Chandler.

AnubisADL wrote:Wow, very surprised at the Williams hate. Deron Williams is the best PG in the NBA. End of story. Guy has been healthy his entire career and doenst need to be the alpha dog.
Chandler/Melo/Williams as our big 3 would be an upgrade. We'd at least have a healthy team.
Nets are desperate. They have no picks and they need to sell tickets for their new arena without giving them away. Nets jump on on Amare and Lin.
I dont think they trade Williams straight up for Amare but giving them Lin would seal the deal just from a marketing stand point.
Best point in the league? Cp3 got the 7 seed in the west with David west and emeka ok4. Deron's team can't even sniff the playoffs in the weak eastern conference.

Great point. If he came to the knicks to play with Amare (<0) and Chandler he might as well just stay in NJ. Unfortunately, even the Nets are not that dumb.

Maybe that's true...but I believe the Russki knows that Melo can pull in fans like you who want to see a star and put fannies in seats. So Stat is just done in your book and DWill and Stat could never achieve the heights that Nash and Stoudemire achieved?

Yes that is exactly correct. If you think Stat looked awful this year coming back off an injury, just wait until next year when he TRIES to come back of many more injuries.
He is done! Maybe he can play a role and a positive one but Star? Not anymore. Sad but true. Bad signing and very irresponsible. Let me guess ... you were for it so you are sticking to your guns. Well I was not and also would have loved to have seen him get amnestied if that was at all possible.

Well I did not want DLee and his no Defense or Stat and his Depends.
I miss Wilson Chandler - the only really sad part of that trade for me though we would not have kept him anyway.

I truly miss not making the playoffs and reading all the wonderful things in here about cap space and draft picks.
How's that Gallo thing working out right now anyway?
If I were a GM, id rather have the cap space than Amare to build upon.
My guess is Nets would take that route and keep options open.
But they have defied logic before.
3 more seasons with no insurance.
Wow, some people won't be satisfied until we have a super start at every position, including coach. Why are so many Knick fans against developing our own players? ****k D. Will, we have a PG and a pretty good one at that. This is Lin first year starting on a shorten, chaotic seasons and already people trying to pawn him off for the next big thing. Unbelievable!!!!

I am profusely against ANY trade for cancerous DWil!!!!!
