He'll move back to the 3 when Amare comes back but there's no 4 in the NBA that's better.
Kevin Love would take issue with your stance. This coming from a huge Melo supporter.
I agree Love is a way better rebounder because of effort and better 3 point shooter but Melo is the better defender plus he can create of the dribble. Put them one on one and Melo lights Love up and hold him under his avg but then again the rebounding could put Melo into foul trouble.
I think there is a small forward in Miami who also play the power forward position part time and is having a MVP season this year. I believe he should be ahead.
Lebron is more of a Point Forward, he dribbles up the court and initiates the offense a good amount. He rarely bangs against the Kevin Loves, Duncans, Garnetts, Nowitzki's etc.

Well I don’t remember Melo banging against Kevin Loves, Duncan, Garnett or Nowitzki either, and why should he? Just take them outside and punish them from the perimeter.

Melo is basically playing out of position, banging with Josh Smith, Boozer, Gibson, Ilyasova etc. The opposing coach ends up playing Melo with smaller SF's after he torches their 4's IE last night with Mbah a Moute instead of Ilyasova. Heat are at full strength, so Bosh gets the lion's share at PF, not Lebron. They occasionally go small in Miami for speed lineups, but 75% of the time it's Bosh manning the 4 especially for his ability to stretch the floor.

Unless he goes up against a PF with post up moves then he will be fine there. The only PFs I see giving him problems is ZBo and Duncan...but Duncan plays more 5 now so they will not even match up.

I agree that Melo is playing out of position at the 4 and doing a great job, but when STAT is healthy (and Jeffries), Melo usually gets most of his minutes at his natural position the 3 (just like Lebrom). In reality they are both part time power forward for now, I don’t understand.

Hopefully STAT's return to the lineup doesn't cause Melo to lose his rhythm right now. He's absolutely locked in offensively.

that is one of the reason why i would bring Amare off the bench just for a couple games this way he gets back into the groove

Yes, Woodson has to manage STAT’s return very careful because it could create some chemistry issues on the court and take the entire team off balance. It is a fine line.

Melo>Love. Melo's a better scorer, more versatile, and a far better defender even when he's not giving 100%. Love is just a better rebounder

Love's advantages over Melo -Gigantic rebounding edge -Better 3 point shooter -Slightly more efficient scorer
Melo's advantages -Better defense -Better passing -Better low-post game
Career-wise, I believe Love is the better player but Melo as a PF over the last few weeks has played better than Love ever has.

Um..Melo has been playing out of his mind lately but what Kevin Love has been doing the first few seasons of his career? That's some historic type shat...

The opposing coach usually defends melo with a sf for the most part...and truthfully, melo cant really be guarded one on one by anybody..

and what are Love's playoff numbers?
dude has the emptiest stats in the league by far. Since Rubio went down the Wolves are 4-17 btw.

lol. Love a better player than Melo. Is this real life? Melo was considered a unanimous top 10 player coming into this season. He is probably playing the best ball of his career right now with lockdown defense and KD/LeBron 30+ ppg, 50% FG level offense. Love is a big numbers situational player that you absolutely cannot build around. Love cannot be the best player on a contending team. Maybe second best player but still the support cast would have to be tailored to overcome his weaknesses.
Hell, even Pau Gasol can lead a team to a winning record with not much around him. I don't care about stats. Gasol is a better player than Love, nonetheless Carmelo.
