No. Go back and read the article. Lin's bird rights reset when we claimed him off of waivers. He is a 1 yr Bird rights guy. Fields is a 2 year guy.

Right, but I don't see that theres much of a difference between 1 year and 2 years. When Landry becomes a free agent, what are we using to resign him? Since we're over the cap and we're using the MLE on Lin it'll have to be either the LLE or a minimum contract.

The Early Bird Exception.

not sure how accurate this is or how it effects us using our MLE in 2012. I do know that Amare and Melo's contracts have increases for next year.

• Every team can use the full mid-level exception, provided doing so does not take the team more than $4 million over the tax line.

• Sounds great for the players, right? Here’s the rub: If you use the full mid-level to get to or approach that barrier looming $4 million over the tax line, you cannot cross it by re-signing your own free agents via Larry Bird Rights. You can cross it to sign rookies or players on veteran minimum contracts. (Update: 8:29 p.m.: The NBA informs me via Twitter that teams in fact cannot cross that barrier $4 million over the tax line via veteran’s minimum deals if you first use the full mid-level).

99% then?

We need to let Fields move on to greener pastures. Seems like a great guy...but I cannot watch his horrific shooting anymore.

When your starting shooting guard can't hit an open uncontested 3...yea, I'd say it's safe to say he's a goner.

Everything about Fields game has regressed. He used to be a good defender and rebounder and this year he has been getting burned almost every game. If he could defend like he did lasty year then I could live with his awful shooting but he just looks lost out there

Last year he was an extremely unique player because he was a 38% 3-point shooter and one of the league's top rebounding guards. He was headed down the path of a true role player in a great way. Now for some reason he no longer possesses those great traits.
