Knicks · I lost a little respect for Melo and the Knicks team tonight. (page 2)

It's a big relief and comfort.
It's been killing him that Melo has been proving everything he's spewed about him wrong. we have over a month of proof, aside from the rest of his career, that Melo is at least a top 10 player.
I wasn't happy with the Cleveland game also. I thought it was disgraceful. But it doesn't mean Melo isn't a stud.
Bonn, you've said all season how great Chandler has been for this team. And I agree that he's the MVP of this team. But why no ire towards him? Is he overrated because he didn't play inspired ball for one game?
8 rbs in 25 min isn't inspired? Really?

How about 5 rebounds against Miami when Melo goes and gets 9? Did that inspire you? sssshhhhhhh! Don't hurt your credibility.

5 rbs in a bad game is much better than 1. I realize I will never praise Melo enough to satisfy you but I did praise him profusely during the great stretch.
Nalod wrote:Melo is a superstar. He smiled and had a good time with the crowd.Superstars don't care if the coaches job might depend on winning playoff series so long as the guy coaches showcases his talent?
No, superstars can get rid of one coach but not a line of succession. Superstars get angry and puts the team on its back and sets it right.
Superstars would rather die then lose.
Superstars don't smile.
Right Nalod ..agree true
Also like to add superstars also have BAD games once in awhile
#7 is our superstar
But to other board posters Melo isn't LBJ, Wade, Rose , Kobe or even Dirk now.
Melo is closest to Rose and LBJ because all 3 stars/superstars hasnt yet won that evasive NBA Title
but Rose and LBJ are better for their team and perhaps makes their team BEST or players around them BETTER than our NY #7
But I am a very happy fan of Knicks #7 as well as our Team when no good or elite players ever wanted a piece of NY City the mecca
#7 and #1 had guts to take it and come to NewYork city.
At least we've become a talk again in NY pro hoops talk and relevant in NBA again.
Melo has one of his most up & down season ever. He isn't a quit-er and dont ever feel he'll quit on NY (city )
as we've seen another legend former ex Knick coach had done recently.
Shows former coach of NYK could care less about fans, about NY City and traditions history and could care less for
working toward the top unless everything was perfect for him and his basketball systems.
Amen I say to that Ex Knick coach brother'
& GOOD RIDDENS!

You don't need to praise him - you don't need to troll every time he does something mediocre. We know you and OBM don't like him and enjoy when he fails. SORRY it's been such a rough stretch for you.

Are you an X-Man?
No it wasn't aimed at you, and we appear to be on the same page actually. I'm just giving the people who say Melo has earned superstar (or top 10) status a hard time here.
Melo has all the tools to be a Top 10 player in this league and this last month I believe no one was playing better than him. I've always thought your criticism towards him was coming from his forced shot selection, ball-stopping and disinterest in D and not some personal vendetta (hence my little joke). I think all those concerns are valid, too, and why I'm reluctant to anoint him a true superstar.
Wouldn't you agree, though, that this recent stretch has shown him to be closer to the guy we both want him to be: mixing up his offense, using bully-ball, drawing fouls, kicking out when the double comes and, when it's crunch time, assassinating?
We didn't get that guy for the bulk of this season and certainly not the other night in Cleveland, but man, when it's going, the man is a legit top-tier player. Just need it to be consistent and for it to translate into some damn playoff wins.
Bonn1997 wrote:Not clear why it would be a rough stretch when what happened on the court was exactly what I predicted - Good things would happen if Melo attacked the basket more and played PF.
Put Amare at Center
Put Tyson at SF & Melo at PF
agreed!

Yes, during the stretch from 3/26 to 4/18, he was the best player in the league. I said in one of the game threads that he had the potential to be the best PF in the game.

How is kobe doing this year? I heard him mentioned as an MVP candidate.

I too love him at power forward. It's a nightmare match-up for opposing teams, and, frankly, I think it makes him work harder on the boards and on D. What's the Amare solution then?
I honestly have zero idea.

The Amare solution? There should be 15 mpg as backup C and 10 as backup PF. If he plays well enough, he gets all those minutes. It's not a charity though.

They ain't that good to do that. They should have wasted Cleveland tonight. Tony Douglas I feel sorry for. He just don't get it because him and some of the other players are playing D'Antoni B ball still. In order for this team to get my respect back they will have to show me the will to win instead of throwing games. Melo needs to score 30 points every game and I don't care about Amare getting points because he gives the points right back by not playing defense.I guess we will give Charlote thier 8th win of the season.
Listen
Melo had a poor game 1st in AGEs and he'd tell you he Su_ccKed.But the bad lost was about whole Team.
You are right about T.D.
I cant stand him here anymore, he gets chances and all he does is jack up shots and shows poorest basketball IQ skills I'd seen on anyone in knickerbocker jersey for quite sometime
Some of this is also on Amare, though cant blame him for the loss he needs games or wks to adjust. His health and back wont ever ever be same
But Amare comes about his business with intent on jumpers, not boxing out, not switching or covering his own man on Defense
ME, you, MisterEarl and any 2 other forum-guys playing guard can perhaps score on Amare Stoudemire in a hoops pickup game
and THAT IS BAD !
Woody balled out OR ripped his team diplomatically last night on MSG show to point I felt Cablevision cut it off into series
of 5-10 min commercial since MSG/Knicks bosses cant stand negative chit chat on Knicks in general.Coach Woody being unhappy last night was good enough for me
Maybe these guys will get a message on what their season will be about in NBA playoffs.
You are right. I can't disagree with you at all.
