Knicks · Damn Woodson your starting look just as bad as MDA (page 3)

Though I am still pining for PJax as I always have, game 2 was a competitive game - as short handed as we were.

gunsnewing @ 5/1/2012 7:48 PM
I dont think it was competive at all. Miami wasnt even playing with the same energy as they did game 1 and if not for those late meaningless 3s the final score wouldve looked worse. The Knicks offense went south again. This time in the 3rd. The defensive blame goes om Amare but offensively we stink

we were outscored by 3 in the first, 3 in the second, 3 in the third and 1 in the fourth. To me thats at least competitive - even if it was mostly for the first 3 qtrs.

Our defense looked weak especially Amare but not just him.

Our offense does stink.

I think/hope we will be (even) more competitive at home.

Game 1 also count my friend, not just game 2.

Game 1 was awful and game 2 was adjusted a bit and more competitive. If game 2 was like game 1 I could not argue that we should kill them all.

Barring jax im in favor of giving woodson a full camp to see what the team can do with some cohesion. Just slightly concerned with his playoff results

It would have been nice to judge him against Indiana

IrishKnickFan @ 5/1/2012 8:23 PM
It tough to judge woody because we are playing the toughest team in the playoffs with a depleted roster. I think Woodson over a full year would make thsi team a top 3 seed next year
loweyecue @ 5/1/2012 8:29 PM
Dolan will o after a big name coach - what have you not learned about baby Huey by now? Woody should get one year extension - but there are two coaches I would prefer over him - Pjax and Sloan.

I agree u can't judge him against the Heat. They are just that god. If they were doing this against indy diff story. Barring Jax he deserves a new contract imo. Maybe 3 years. You dont want a lame duck coach again. Dolan can always eat the rest of his contract if things dont work out

I am not so sure now that Grunwald is the official GM. He and Woody are good buddys - Don't know if Jimmy will listen to him but he does listen to Zeke and Woody is his good buddy too.

So, this will be very interesting.

Sloan is a great coach just dont think he would be as successful in new york. might be Larry Brown all over again. Not worth the game. Phil or woodson

Also I doubt sloan would ever want to coach melo

If Sloan can perfect Malone then he probably could do wonders with Melo. Malone came a long way.

How old was Malone when Sloan started coaching him?

Tyson flu
JJ too injured to play
Shump torn ACL

Fields cannot play in the playoffs, he's just not mentally tough enough.
Amar'es meltdown

What could he have done differently?! We've gone from having 'Mobb Deep' to our new bench for game 3:

Novak
Bibby
TD
Jorts
JJ (who can't play- his knee is too bad)

That's pathetic!

Woody is fuming- watch this start of this video:

http://www.msg.com/videos/woodson-postga...

and all our guards are really 2nd or 3rd stringers. Not a single guard capable of starting on a good team. Baron is old and the ghost of Bibby only manifests once every 10-20 games and only for a cameo at that. Douglas has rocks rattling around in his head preventing him from doing anything intelligent. Then there is Landry fields with dinner plates on the end of his wrists instead of hands and fingers.

You could make a comparable list for MDA
-No Lin for most of season
-Amare with bad back and knees
-Baron either out or playing injured
-Jeffries out for half the season
-Jorts out for half the season
-Melo injuries

I actually did something like that before he was canned.

If your not given MDA any excuses, why woodson...

Both had to deal with adversity. One of them lost at a rate that had the Knicks going to the lottery and giving Houston a lottery pick. The other overcame the horrible first 2/3 of the season and got the Knicks winning and into the playoffs.

Think there's 0 chance Sloan would want to live in NY/work for Dolan/deal with NY media

MDA did the same thing, woodson won a few more games, but lets be honest..mda would have been a lot more successful this year without melo...

I like woodson, but if he can't make the proper adjustment, and continues to give melo the rock and close his eyes..Then he has to go, either back to an assistant, or the hell out here...

I don't want a coach that wins a bunch of games in the regular season, and can't get his team to atleast the finals

I think if they were not in such a hole before the 18-6 run maybe they would have gotten a higher seed, better matchup, and advance into the second round and possibly the conference finals. However, losing Shump, Lin, barely having Tyson in game 1, and having a limited Jeffries has really impacted the team. Watching the playoffs, I don't know if the Knicks could beat some of the higher seeds that I was sure they would have beat earlier in Woodson's tenure. I do think the Heat are the elite team in the NBA and are playing to their potential against the Knicks. I think the addition of Battier was huge for them now that it is the playoffs. I don't know how you can say D'Antoni did the same thing as Woodson. If you take out the Linsanity run, D'Antoni was 10-23. 18-24 isn't losing a few more games than a guy that goes 18-6 to end the season. The only team that finsihed with a better record than Woodson's Knicks for the final 24 games was the Spurs. The Knicks were headed to the lottery this year and their pick is going to Houston.

Just wondering were you critical of the previous coach that couldn't win during the regular season? I honestly don't remember what your opinion of D'Antoni and the job he did in NY was.
knicks1248 @ 5/3/2012 9:39 PM
woodson lost my vote BIG TIME..Miami is playing smart and moving the ball, while woodson calls iso for melo despite shooting 20% and melo taking 90% of the shots.

what kind of coaching is that, anyone of us can do that
