Knicks · Breen goes in...Melo wants to be a superstar, he doesn't want to win a Championship... (page 3)

Melo is still very much in his prime and we do have some very good young players in Shump and Lin. Tyson should be able to do what he does for a good while longer given his build, which is somewhat like KG. They are slim enough to be able to play their position so long as they stay in good shape. All is not lost IMO. We just need to evaluate what works and what doesn't and NEVER go into a season with 2 OLD PG's again!!! They should've tried harder to get a guy like Sessions.

Would be nice if Tyson had KG's offensive game

+100000000000 on not getting Sessions - I have been screaming for that all season

They need to sign another young PG besides Lin, even if it's D league guy or a 2nd rder. Can't afford to go stretches without a capable point if Lin goes down again.

Breen's in the media. Dolan doesn't talk to the media long enough to fire one of them.

Nalod, is spreeeeewell on the payroll?

Grunwald needs to just remodel the team around Melo.

remodel?? i don't think you need to remodel this team—especially with the talent you have already. what, should we get ANOTHER star that has to pass the ball to Melo??

when this team is healthy look at what you have?

defensive anchor in the center position with a RING: Chandler
high IQ play maker PG who gets in the paint: Lin
All Star PF: STAT
Lockdown perimeter defender who can also create: Shump (not going to mention Fields)

Plus one of the deepest bench which includes former all star pg Baron Davis and a 50% 3pt specialist.

right now, the ball has to go to Melo because of the injuries. But to remodel the team for Melo would be redundant.

What kind of Stat are we going to have? How healthy will he be/remain. Will we have a strong PG that can facilitate his game?

Lin still has a lot to prove. He has shown strong signs but is not a shoe-in to be a dominant PG for us (though we have seen his upside and that's is why there are high hopes)

The other 3 positions are pretty set, though we hope that Shump comes back strong from his rehab and continues to develop his offensive game.

Here is our back-court, as it stands right now and including both starters and reserves, for opening day next season: Toney Douglas.

I caught a glimpse of how good this team can be at full strength—at the end of march when the knicks played the pacers back to back. this gives me hope for next season. although, we'll probably have to part ways with J.R. and Novak

Stat has not looked like an allstar at any point this season...I agree that this team as a whole-when healthy-looked pretty good. In fact, we were the 3rd best team in the east IMO. Unless Stat can regain his form from the beginning of last year, 3 is about as high as this current team can go if everyone is healthy.

My guess is that STAT will likely have his minor back surgery to alleviate the disc problem and that he'll heal and be much better next year. The type of back problem he has is not the kind that should prevent him from finishing his career playing at a good level. I think he's been trying to play with the back issue without having any kind of surgery which is usually how they handle minor back problems, but in the end he'll probably have some kind of work done to relieve the pressure on the Nerves in that area. Of course I can't be definitive on that but it seems to me that he's on that kind of path now. Unless he just wants to go with the Epidural injections and therapy like he did this year. Either way I think he'll be fit enough to contribute.

Right now this team just need to extend this series!!! I think they can do it with a big game at home tonight. They've got to be fired up and super aggressive at home. The Knicks haven't played a good game yet, let alone a great one and it could happen. You know one of those nights where everyone is hitting and the crowd gets going. I'd like to see them go into next year on a more positive note. To extend the series would do that IMO.

Everyone in our organization other than Tyson has a lot to prove.

Tyson needs to be able to hit a shot thats not a dunk - a 10 footer would be nice. PJax will force him to.

He also needs to take a flu shot before next years playoffs.

Bonn1997 @ 5/3/2012 4:26 PM
Tyson doesn't need to be able to do that although it would be a nice bonus.
AnubisADL @ 5/3/2012 4:59 PM
Lin beasted for a whopping 7 games then proceeded to break down and get injured.

He has yet to prove he can be effective for a 82 games season plus playoffs. I'm always concerned when young guys have knee/ankle injuries ESPECIALLY when they are guards.

Not saying he cant but solely relying on him is foolish. If he regresses we'd be royally screwed and he'd have little trade value.

Injuries happen . look at chris paul and rose they have had serious knee problems. Also lin only had one bad game game agianst the heat but i think by that pouit he was tired but i thinkhe is gonna be a good pg. I am more concerned about shump since a torn ACL is a very serious injury especially for a guard like shump

No one wants to get rid of Lin and no one hopes he can lead these Knicks to great things down the road more than I do...It will be crazy not to get a PG who can step in a run the show just in case Lin can't do it for a 82 game schedule...Our window is closing...It will be a huge failure on the organization's part if we are in the same predicament next year's playoffs ..

Yup next year this team needs to get into the top 3 or 4 in the conference. I mean tonight we may break the record for most consecutive losses in the playoffs and god knows if that will ever be broken but at this point i just want this team to win a damn playoff series
