Exactly, Dolan’s mistake was to over pay for someone (Melo) that while a great talent, is not a great player; yet, he paid premium, and is costing us now and will cost us even more in the future. However, this doesn’t mean that this team as currently constructed cannot get better. We will see, hopefully.

I am not blaming melo but its obvious he wanted to be here but in a way he hurt us because all he had to do was say that he only wnats to come here so he could have waited for FA and we could have either kept all that talent or could of traded some of those assets for a bigtime pg or a center

You want to say that not all of the Nuggets' success is due to the Melo trade? Fine. What does it say though when your impact on the team can be easily replaced by guys like Gallo, Moz, and Andre Miller?

Uh ...

How about:

TY LAWSON!! he shined when Billups left and he became the man
Faried - with Lawson is by far the big difference in this team - SEE WIN SHARES
Affalo - has come into his own - no longer losing PT to the great JR SMITH
McGee - Great Trade
Brewer - GREAT DEFENSE off the bench and has been a great spark in the playoffs

OK, you're a top 10 superstar but you can be replaced by Ty Lawson and some role players. Lawson's production actually hasn't been any higher than Billups' was anyway.

Replaced by Ty Lawson and Role players?

Do not realize the offense for Denver is completely different without Carmelo? They barely even run half court sets. Melo is not going to excel in run and gun. That current team running half court sets is a disaster.

Nice try though.

I did not say it wasn't different.

A good team knows when to peel away a vet and let a young guy step up. Lawson was ready.

ITs call developing players. Same for Affalo, they developed him. By extracting Melo for value they opened up more shots to go around. Add in Gallo and you change your team. Team is also happier.

The pieces are individually less than one Melo but collectively they add up.

Make no mistake about it, Melo was going to Nets and was getting that money. Dolan out of fear had to step up and do it for less than basketball reasons.

Walsh to me is a basketball guy and to me seemed like he did not want to do this deal. Dolan could not stomach a star in Brooklyn.

Dolan not understand that winning over a long period of time could in fact yield good synergy?

I thought I was the only one. Miami is so good you wonder how they can ever lose one game to Knicks during that run. Now I hated that lose even more because I hate a win that was handed out of pity. It robs you of your pride.

By this logic I would like to suggest that Lakers where playing possum just to get Artest back for the OKC series. See Denver really sucks and are only winning because the Lakers' bigs are not engaged.

Bullsh**** trade on so many levels. Dolan is a clown.

Quick question: why did the Nuggets risk this master plan of Melo-free glory by offering him a contract extension?

Negotiating tactic? Misjudgment of Melo's value? Ignorance of Dolan's desperation? We'll never know.

You're right. We'll never know. So how about we stop riding the Nuggets' jock and thinking their front office had some grand design in all of this and were joyously doing Bacardi shots when Melo left, relieved he didn't sign their enormous contract.

Hey Andrew or Martin, any chance you can develop a sub-forum for Nuggets fans because there seems to be an awful lot of them on this New York Knicks fan site.

No name?

You seem to underestimate Lawson big time - he makes that team much better

Faried is a no name - Great pick - playing off the charts

Brewer = no name

Gallo - name

McGee - name

ANDREW(Re) Miller - NAME

With all that, their winning pct is the worst it was in 5 years.
