And not even a discussion when you look at all the other aspects of NBA basketball.
I bring up Clyde Drexler. We don't compare him to Jordan. We can't compare Melo to Kobe.

One is easily the top 5 SG of all time. Another wont even make the top 20 of all time in SF.
One is a two way player who was named 3 times all defense second team. Another is an average defender who was never named throughout his caree. Defensive ability is what separates a GOAT from just a good scorer.
If this thread is made at a non-Knicks fan forum, the result will be one sided.
Not so sure about that. Wade is getting killed outside of this forum. Its pretty obvious he is declining at 30 while Melo is still only 27
It might cause a debate as of now, but i stated "career wise." There is really no comparison.
Here are the top SG of all time:
Micheal Jordan Kobe Bryant Jerry West AI DWade Iceman
You can juggle after Jordan.
What about Clyde Drexler?
Joe Dumars Mitch Richmond Andrew Toney Earl Monroe Reggie Miller
Wade is good but he is a force fed superstar.
Jordan Kobe AI West Wade Miller Gervin Robertson Dumars Monroe Richmond Allen Drexler
just for fun. But Wade is up there. Do not deny it.

That is right. 45.6% Good call
Mray20 wrote:he can show up every night unlike Wade who has been up and down all season
That is wrong. Last 4 years tell the story. The younger Melo has missed more games and more time on the court.
Now this doesn't include playoff games or MPG: Over his career, Wade averages more MPG. 2011-2012, not counting playoffs: Wade: 33.2 MPG Anthony: 34.1 MPG Not much of a difference friend.
And if you wanna talk about durability, the playoffs extend every season. Wade has played in 106 total playoff games Anthony has played in 54. In the last 4 years? Wade has played in 42 and counting. Anthony has played in 31.
Yea, Wade's got some injury issues, but not many veterans in the NBA don't. And yes he plays with a style that requires athleticism, but it's also clear that he has a tireless work ethic and stays in tiptop shape, whereas we can say for Melo, he has a shape.
There is no shortage of data to prove Wade is better at everything NBA besides free throws and 3-pointers. There is nothing else.
Mray20@ 6/14/2012 9:42 AM
Have you watched Wade this season and playoffs? He is up and down he can't put together a string of good games , he'll have a good second half sometimes or one good game and the next stink it up

Did you watch Carmelo this season? Other than a 4 week stretch, he looked like a below average NBA player.
Mray20@ 6/14/2012 9:50 AM
You mean this season when Melo played banged up for most of the season and then the last month single handily carried the Knicks into the playoffs by playing power forward averaging 30 points shooting 50 percent from the field and 46 percent from 3 point land without Amare and Lin? Yea he looked much better than Wade has this season
Bonn1997@ 6/14/2012 9:59 AM
That 4 week stretch merely compensated for some of the harm he did during the rest of the season. The team is still sub .500 in games Melo plays in. Tyson is the one who carried this team into the playoffs.

You're killing your own point with that one. Come on.
Dude has a history of being "banged up" and it's nothing major, he's on the sideline with little injuries that stem from poor physical conditioning and poor shape that other athletes wouldn't let keep them out of the game for very long. Lord have mercy.
Mray20@ 6/14/2012 10:08 AM
Since when is averaging 12 points 11 rebounds in april carrying a team into the playoffs?

You read this thread and it's hard to imagine we're talking about a player whose team is .470 with him in the lineup.
Mray20@ 6/14/2012 10:48 AM
You're talking about a player who has been to the playoffs every single year of his career, I seem to recall Wade leading his team to the lottery a couple of times , Melo on the Knicks is a small sample this team has had alot of injuries and changes during his time here.

More than 50% of the teams make the playoffs. That's not an accomplishment. Making the playoffs just means you're not below average.

Melo had guys on that roster from day 1. His rookie season he led a lot, but after that, he was the head guy, but was flanked by a lot names every year: Marcus Camby Nene Andre Miller Kenyon Martin JR Smith later on
And what was the result year after year? First round exit. Until the arrive of veteran leadership in Chauncey Billups and Juwan Howard in 08-09, then they did something. And it was Billups with the high win share percentage in the playoffs, not Melo. Case in point, it takes a team. A dedicated team with lots of help. Blame Wade for having help when he won, and none when he didn't.
And it was ONE lottery year, 07-08, where Shaq had major problems and was moved, Mourning was on the way out, and the second best scoring option was Ricky Davis. And they had no defense. Not to mention Wade missed 31 games due to injury. (I know, not an excuse, but that's 31 games he didn't LOSE).
08-09 with no one else on the squad besides Michael Beasley and an injured Jermaine O'Neal, they went to the playoffs and pushed the series to 7 games against the Hawks. Then he led the next year to a first round exit with a team on his back.
Let's be real, do you just wish he smiled more during games? Didn't hit the floor so much? What is it?
Bonn1997@ 6/14/2012 12:54 PM
And it was ONE lottery year
Good catch. That year was clearly an aberration in Wade's career.

We can go on and on but you seem like one of these guys that just doesn't like Melo and no matter what he does outside of winning a championship won't be good enough. When OKC wins in 6 and wade has 2 good games and the rest does nothing lets revisit this.

You're right that I do not like the way Melo plays. It's not effective. Your last comment indicates that you don't appreciate the importance of sample size. Short of a career-ending injury to Wade, there's nothing that could happen in one playoff series to change which of the two is the better player.

It goes beyond winning the championship. It's the way he's played for a decade. One-sided, until Woody took over. He had some of his worst shooting games when he played his best defense of his CAREER. Why? Because he didn't know how hard it would be to put in so much effort on both sides of the court. I've never liked guys who kill the stat sheet, don't distribute the ball well, and choose not to play hard-nosed D ALL the time. I actually like him more after the second half of the season, he showed some new qualities. If he can work as hard on D and getting guys openings as he has on his offensive gifts, he could be the KING of NY basketball for the next 5,6,7 years. If he does that, maybe we could have a further discussion. Until then, Wade has his number.

You're not looking at the big picture in my opinion Wade is declining do to injuries and age catching up to him and this is the beginning of it, time will tell though.

It's the same thing for Melo, he has sat out more games than Wade in the last 4 seasons, without playoffs. FACT. Injuries plague almost every player. You can't predict Wade not coming back from his injuries, same as you can't predict Melo won't have a few big ones.

Exactly; based on conditioning and injury and surgery history, Melo has the "older" body.
