I agree 100%
I would be displeased with a second round knockout
everything else is gravy
Yeah i mean these guys arent getting any younger so teh time to win is the next two years. However shump being out so long and the lack of cap soace has me a little worries not to mention that the birds rights case may cost ys llin or novak

And a hard fought, 6 or 7 game second round. Hopefully ending with a trip to the ECF.

im not sure if you guys understand the knicks contract situation...you cant just "blow up" the team...the core of melo, stat and tyson will be on big 3 for the next three yrs...PERIOD...they basically have untradable contracts
now back to the original question...sorry i didnt answer in detail..i was texting the answer
overall if you look at the team progression..its NOT bad (especially for a team that sucked for the past 10 yrs)
2000-2010 garbage
2010-2011 42-40 & first rd loss
2011-2012 36-30 (about a 45win season) & first rd loss
2012-2013 50 wins & 2nd rd loss
2013-2014 55 wins and ECF (fight for a title...but i think the heat will keep that title like the bulls did in the 90s)
the reason why i hope and expect improvement for next yr is: coach woody (emphasis on D) and lin (a good pg will solve this "can melo, stat and tyson play together" issue)
also, i know alot of people here like to bash melo...but please remember that melo used to carry denver to 45-50 wins season basically my himself ..it wasnt til he got some help (chauncey...a real PG) that they made it to the WCF..my point is this progression will depend on the NON CORE players...last yr, the non core = jeffries, bill walker and toney douglas...this yr it was JR smith, novak (led NBA in 3s) and shumpert...improvement! and guess what, the team improved (we were one win short (cleveland game) of being a #6 seed and playing a beatable philly team in the first rd...but i wont go there...lol)
instead of critizing melo and trying to blow up the team, lets think about how to add to the NON core roster...cuz the big3 is year for the next 3 yrs
Carmelo wasn't by himself. He had more help than LeBron. LeBron carried his Cleveland teams, Carmelo did not. Let's not re-write history here. Carmelo has been eliminated in the first round 8 of 9 times. That's a fact. Carmelo still has to prove he can carry a team to a title run. He hasn't proved that yet.

We dont have cap space to add good pieces

i never said melo has ever carried his teams to a title run...i jsut said he can carry you to a 45-50win regular season...hes a very good (one dimensional) player but he needs help...if u look at those rosters, he never had any other allstar players...(a washed up iverson)...it wasnt until he ran with chauncey that they achieved something in the playoffs...my point is that the progression of the knicks team will be based on the non-core players (even tho i realize that melo - like all stars will get the credit or blame)

The fact that you guys feel there is hope of getting past the first round just proves my point that you believe in woodson, melo, amare, lin, chandler & shumpert so I rest my case for the rest of this offseason
These guys will have less trade value then. You don't wait for failure and then trade the players. You trade the ones that are over-valued in order to get good value and prevent failure. Right now, Melo is coming off a very good stretch and is likely at the highest it will ever be.

The same could be said of Kevin Garnett- pre Boston. All players need help. Just the facts of NBA history.

So we are acknowledging that melo is a good player and has value around the league? You sure wouldnt think that visiting this forum!

For the love of god man shut up. You are the only person who is talking about the "supposed hate" for melo. Everybody else is talking about our "team" not just melo. Just let i go bro its all in your mind

Trade value? Yes. That's all I was acknowledging. I'm not saying he's a bad player but I have no interest in keeping him here on a max contract.

If u dont think this has to do with the melo trade and the firing of mda and hiring woodson you are delusional

do you mind repeating taht i dont know what tbis is
50 wins, home court, second round playoffs minimum.
ill repeat myself...melo, stat and tyson are NOT going anywhere within the next 3 yrs...im not saying they couldnt...or shouldnt...im just saying they WONT...their contracts are too hard to move..but besides that DOLAN LOVES MELO and STAT

who are you talking too? lol
I can't answer this question until we find out what the roster will be for next season - there are a lot of big if's and some major holes to fill.
I do think home court in the first round of the playoffs and making it to the second round are solid expectations. I think ECF are a long shot but you never know.

It depends on what you're trying to get. I'd be willing to bet Orlando would S & T Ryan Anderson and maybe a 1st rd pick for Melo.

lol...to the knicks fans who think the big 3 is changing in the next 3 yrs...its just not going to happen...even though you can argue it SHOULD or COULD?
of course, melo trade value is high and you can trade him for a high draft pick or something else...but it WONT HAPPEN
dolan loves melo
