Knicks · In what would be the ultimate starphuck if it went down (page 3)

Bonn1997 @ 7/3/2012 11:09 AM
If they get Dwight, then this is NOT starphucking. It is star-acquiring. The "phuck" in starphucking implies that the decision is based on careless impulse.
CashMoney @ 7/3/2012 11:09 AM
No doubt Deron Williams is legit, but Joe Johnson has the worst contract in sports, and for the supposed best big man getting shut down by Chandler makes me wonder if Dwight is actually the best big man in the game. If the Nets can pull this off it makes them a contender but not championship caliber in my opinion. You still need a bench and considering they would be depleting their bunch plus their draft picks for the forseeable future I don't think it makes them any better than my boys in blue and orange.

You referring to when Dwight was playing against Chandler with a herniated disc in his back? Seriously? What are Dwight's lifetime #s against Chandler. I'd be more interested in that.

What's the reality then? "The Nets are going to be better than the Knicks so I'll follow them instead?"

+1. Guys think you can throw a bunch of names on paper and it makes them championship worthy. If that's the case, Miami would've have 2 rings already not 1. Chemistry and gelling, experience playing together, Depth and important role players around their big 3. Luck and Health also factor in. This squad is not a gimme by any means. Hack a Dwight in the 4th quarter anyone?

CrushAlot @ 7/3/2012 11:18 AM
If the Nets pull this off they have a good chance to get past the Heat next year. Not sure who the Heat would use to stop Deron or DH12. They also still have euros to bring in.

No one here is jumping ship. We've endured 11yrs of hardship and still here. This Nets news makes for a truly sad day in Knicks history if it goes down like this
OasisBU @ 7/3/2012 11:20 AM
Wow - espn is already writing the Knicks obituary if this deal goes down.

OK, Chandler vs. Howard straight up and Chandler is 12-8 overall. Also, has held Dwight to 15 ppg and below 50% shooting while Dwight averages almost 4 turnovers per game against Tyson. No doubt that Howard has a better offensive game than Chandler but consider Chandler doesn't have an offensive game to begin with doesn't say much.

Howard has 3 DPOY awards but Tyson has the most recent of course.

I don't get why so many people are in love with Howard to begin with. The dude is straight up overrated. He wasn't the best player on his team when he went to the finals and the guy has a career average of only 18 PPG when he is the only big man in the game.

He should be grabbing 10+ boards a game when he's the only big in the game. This dude will never win a Chip.

gunsnewing @ 7/3/2012 11:42 AM
He is a little overrated. He would get destroyed playing againts hakeem, shaq, ewing & drob but the truth is he is the best C in the league in a world where there are no other great centers. Bynum is real good but a bit of a headcase and he too would get destroyed by the Centers of the past. It is possible fhat tyson shuts howard down but we'd still be dealing with deron and jj. Individually deron & jj are better than melo & Amare. Add the fact that they compliment each other a heck of a lot better while in year 3 of amare/melo we are still praying they can play And win together and get out of the lower playoff seeding
gunsnewing @ 7/3/2012 11:48 AM
Pretty much our only hope is that JJ busts his knees is done for the year and requires surgery which can also be said for Amare & Dwight is in and out of the lineup with a bad back. Also can be said for Amare
MS @ 7/3/2012 11:49 AM
Throwing guys on paper. You mean like we did with Chandler, Melo, Amare and no point guard. There was no fucking plan there. Pick up some waiver wire throw away and get lucky for 18 games??? Everyone wants to give Glen all this credit for his great pickups, but the Knicks got lucky with JR Smith, foolishly used their amnesty and we are still waiting for Melo to come in with a good attitude and in shape.

The Nets have an elite defensive player in Wallace, a top 3 point guard that can shoot the three and dish the rock the best defensive player in the game that is at the top of the league in rebounding and shot blocking and albeit the worst contract in sports, but Johnson can still shoot the rock and handle the ball. That seems like a number of players that will actually fit together and be better than the knicks.

gunsnewing @ 7/3/2012 11:51 AM
Glen has done a good job. Dolan & Walsh(besides cleaning up after Isiah) not so good
y2zipper @ 7/3/2012 11:56 AM
Humphries and Lopez would have to re-sign with the Nets for this to even be considered.

Fortunately games aren't won in paper, so annointing the Nets as championship challengers is extremely premature. Philadelphia Eagles of last year anyone? Just because you won the offseason championship means shit. Didn't the NY Giants win the whole thing barely getting into the postseason? Didn't the LA Kings win the Stanley Cup as an 8th seed? Let's not drool over the Nets even if they do get Dwight, they still have to make it work out on the court.

Really U dont think a roster starting like this for example this year could compete for a championship
in another year OR 2.

Dwight Howard
Kenyon Martin
Gerald Wallace
Joe Johnson
Deron Williams

Kidd

You do know Howard just had back surgery, Joe Johnson is 31 and gradually declining, Gerald Wallace has yet to play a full 82 games, Jason Kidd is 39 and ready for retirement, K-Mart is 34 and one knee injury away from ending his career right?

Exactly, but for some reason people have become hysterical. During the lebron FA people were begging for us NOT to get JJ. Now he's 2 years older, and on the Nets, suddenly he's a great player to have. Deron Williams is turning into the second coming of Marbury these past two years and dwight Howard literally has a broken back!

Football & basketball are two entirely different ballgames. In the nba you win with stars. Football & baseball is different

Didn't the Dallas Mavericks win with 1 star and a bunch of role players last year?
