Knicks · I like shump but do people remember the serious injury? (page 1)

I have liked shump from the moment we drafted him even though some of the people who are cursing the Front Office now were saying that shumpert was a bad draft pick when it first went down. But he has had a lot of injury problems in his rookie year alone. I mean he may come back feb-march but even then he probably wont be effective until teh next season. So are people willing to wait 1-2 years and hope shump comes back to normal?

I like Nash but do people remember he is 39years old? There are risks everywhere.

TD, Jorts, JJ and a second rounder is a good haul for the Suns (considering the alternative is nothing)- we need to stand firm against bidding against ourselves by adding Shump. Get Nash to ask The Suns for a favour after all he's done for them.

I agree. Nash is the key here. He needs to just make up his mind. Tornoto or NY. If its NY then tell phx and let phx be glad they are even getting something.

I remember the injury and I will tell you that Shump that you saw before the injury is a a good 1 1/2 to 2 years away. The rule of thumb with the knee injury is 1 year to get back and another year to get your game back. The 6-8 month is the biggest BS out there.

Exactly and we dont have a large window with our big 3. I mean Melo will probably still be ok but amare is breaking down and who knows how long tyson can take all that abuse

Shump is 22. One of my only good memories from the lockout was reading about and watching videos of shump working out. Shump has a tremendous work ethic and is very young. I anticipate a full recovery.

That's right throw him under the bus. We are good for that.

It's not simply "the serious injury"; it's the chronic problems in both knees. I wouldn't say I really like him though. I'd say I admire his intensity on defense and think he has the potential to be a nice complimentary piece. Right now, though, he's putting up 9.5 pts on 9.1 shots a game. That puts him towards the bottom of the league among SGs in offensive production. People don't appropriately discount his impact by taking into account that he is a liability on offense.

While I don’t consider Shumper a good offensive two guard, I believe he is a very good all around two guard, since rebounding, steals and defense are also part of the game and he is already at a very high level on these. If Shumper had a polished offensive game, he wouldn’t be a Knick now, he would have gone a lot sooner in the draft considering his elite athleticism.

Oh I agree he's great on the defensive end and if he had an offensive game, he would have gone much earlier in the draft. Because of his offense, I don't think he has a positive impact on the game right now, though, and if we were to trade him, it wouldn't be a net loss.

I disagree, I think Shumper had a positive impact on the game, it just happen to be on the defensive end, Also, considering that our two best players don’t play defense consistently, having guys like Chandler in the front and Shumper in the back court is actually what balance this team. Now, don’t get me wrong, I would trade Shumper and some, for another good player in return, but I would expect somebody younger than 38.

Also, if you look around the NBA, all the best team's offense is built around a great wing player slashing to the basket and creating for everyone else. Shump is the only guy on the team with a chance of being able to stop other team's from doing that.
