Felton didn't really make Gallo & Wilson better. Making players better is Kidd's specialty. Can anyone say kmart & jefferson? He still sees the entire court better than 90% of the league. Nit like Felton who would be looking to pick n roll with an injured Amare all day. He hasnt shown the ability to make players better in cha, ny, den & portland. Kidd is 6'4 great perimeter defender and get this a low lost defender. Really strong guy! Great at playing the passing lane. Cant wait.to see him & shump together! Great rebounder & certainly a great leader. As someone said Messier like. Has become a decent spot up 3 shooter. And last but not least the perfect guy to mentor and coach Lin to help him become the leagues next nash/kidd.
So glad we finally got the man I targeted the minute we were eliminated by Miami. He was number 1 on my list even ahead of odom. You can't imagine hiw thrilled I am about this coming season. Hopefully we can still get Camby and another sg. Lets go overtake Miami & Boston!!
oh & the media would've made sure Lin's confidence is ruined the minute he has a bad game. They would call for Felton. Much like Sanchez/Tebow. Would not be Pretty. And who's to say Felton wouldn't eventually complain and be out of sbape?
If we want to make Lin better, Kidd is better, for sure.
And if we want to make this squad more attractive to Lin to resign, then Kidd is definitely better.
I'm sorry we couldn't get Nash, but the cost in players was too great. Kidd is an awesome consolation prize.

Kidd is the perfect consolation prize without a doubt. He is a coach on the floor, a good spot up shooter, and can play alongside Lin because of his size and smarts on defense. I would have been content with Felton because he would be an upgrade, but Kidd is a much better fit and a better player right now.
What Kidd does for the team is make everyone better... especially Amare & Chandler. He'll make Anthony play w/o the ball. He'll be the best PG coach since D'Antoni... and he'll make Toney D better.
Bringing in Nash at 39 to split time with Lin for $10mil would've been dumb. He was not resurrecting a broken down Amare's career.
Kidd is a better fit for the team and especially for Lin than Felton would've been.
This team, particularly Melo and Lin, needs veteran leadership. Kidd brings that in spades.
Felton made players around him better. Maybe not DRASTICALLY but he moved the ball nicely, operated the pick n roll well, and set the tone defensively

Here is the Raymond I remember, he could get points at will by driving it in, but he also struggled with the PnR. Felton made some very clutch shots. He plays inspired D. His assists here were not surprising to me, any capable PG under MDA should have respectable assist numbers. Other than that his playmaking is on par. But not on Nash/Kidd level.

I thought he was a serviceable pick and roll player. Did well during that big run when him n stat we're going off. Teams started to adjust. I remember Miami trapped Felton and left will open but will was too tentative to try and take shots or make a play with a defender closing out on him. It definitely didn't last. Felton's game was solid but a little predictable and it only made it harder when his jumper started not falling. He was a solid player though.
Kidd isn't a penetrator anymore. He can lead a fast break and still plays excellent d despite his age but half court wise he's a leader who can make the right decisions, put the ball in the right players hands, and spread the floor with a nice 3 ball he's developed the last couple years. I would actually rather see Kidd start to keep Melo and Amare organized, and bring in Lin a little later so he can play with the tail end of the 1st unit and run the whole 2nd unit...or something to that effect. Kidd can also play SG on both ends of the floor so I wouldn't be opposed to both Lin/Kidd on the floor together at times.
I like Kidd over felton and Nash for the unique situation we are in. Nash would have stunted Lins developement to some degree.
Lin will have growing pains. Its better he work thru it then deal with the NY media calling for his head and in favor of Nash.
Kidd comes in in a set role where Felton would compete for minutes and if he was playing well might very well make some noise about expanding it.
Kidd's floor vision is 2nd to none. Even at half speed he won't having a problem getting those guys easy buckets.
Another key thing Kidd brings is size and the ability to guard the opponents' 2. So he can play with Lin. He can play with Toney if he ever gets it together. He can play with any "combo" small guard we may pick up who isn't a real point but is too small to cover 2 guards. That adds a lot of flexibility.
Just don't know how much he's got left. But I'm happier picking him up for $3M/year than I would have been taking Nash for Shump.
I think Kidd is a very serviceable PG. He brings added value of being able to show Lin how to co-exist with a guy like Melo. I think he also brings poise when teams collapse on Lin... i.e. when the Heat doubled Lin on every possession near the end of "Linsanity", the offense seemed to stagnate. You add another championship ring-bearer to the roster. I am interested to see how the balance of the roster fills up.
With the like of Lin and Kidd I think the biggest beneficiary is Tyson Chandler.

I want LeDouche and friends try that again with Kidd as Lin's running partner. I see Kidd bringing the ball up and handing the ball to Lin when he passes midcourt and Lin dissecting the defense to setup the Big 3.
Kidd is a trememdous leader and a tremendous character guy. When you look back at what his teammates, coaches, gms etc. have said about him the Knicks got the perfect fit in my opinion. What he brings to practice, the locker room, and the message he delivers to his teammates may impact the Knicks success as much or more than his play on the court. I don't think you can minimize the value of having a guy like Kidd on the roster. Kidd is in the twilight years of his career and his role on the court will be limited but I think his overall impact on the team will be huge.
Favorite Kidd memory, when he and Reggie Miller had their shoot out in the first round of the playoffs during one of the Nets runs to the finals. I was working on my car and listening to the game on the radio and gave up the car and went into watch the game. The guy was unbeleiveable. He made the nets winners. The Nets!?!
