Dwight would've made them instant contenders now they are a 6-8seed at best. Oh and how long til billy king gets canned?

Humphries might have a shot but bropez won't grab any with those guys on the floor. Is bropez getting a max deal?

i think King has done a passable job, actually. adding joe johnson was a decent move. signing deron williams is HUGE for them. if they'd lost deron, they'd be screwed beyond belief.
the big mistake was making the joe johnson move and gerald wallace extension BEFORE acquiring dwight. once they lost that cap room, they lost all leverage in the dwight negotiations.
BUT, if the Nets kept their cap room, they'd have a SKELETON crew surrounding deron and a very likely chance deron wouldn't come back. so they were in a major pickle. wait a year for dwight and risk losing deron. or lose leverage in the dwight deal and keep deron and surround him with a decent cast and to be fair joe johnson gives them a nasty backcourt combo.
basically, dwight completely screwed them when he signed his ETO waiver. dwight could've been a free agent RIGHT NOW and just signed with the nets this summer. but he wanted the true max money that comes with re-signing with the magic. he basically greeded himself out of the deal.
seeing how these deals can blow up, it does make me think the knicks did a good job to finally actually get melo. whether melo was the right target is another issue, but i think they did well to seal the deal. those saying what a huge package the knicks gave up, witness ray felton scrounging for a minimum deal, gallo and wilson are nice pieces who combined put up melo numbers, mozgov is a big question mark who i'd trade 18 times over for camby until camby was 50. not to mention chauncey from that deal became DPOY Tyson Chandler. so. the knicks did okay.
David Aldridge @daldridgetntSource: Brook Lopez to re-sign with the Brooklyn Nets.
the thing about brook lopez's three rebounds per game that is scary... you never know when they're coming. he could grab one of his three rebounds at any point of the game. like a sneak attack.

Brooklyn has reached agreement on a 4-year, $61 million max deal with Brook Lopez, league source tells Y! Sports.

6-8 might be high for the Nyets as presently constituted. They only won 22 games last year. Will Johnson make that much difference?
orlando holds every single bit of leverage here. if they hold onto dwight, he can leave in FA and goto whatever team has capspace (won't be brooklyn, ny, la) and sign for less money than he could have with orlando. i think orlando is playing a game of a poker with dwight in hopes he changes his mind after they put some pieces in down there.

i agree, actually. either that or he'll just agree to be traded to the lakers.

Makes me worried. What's nuts is that he could end up grabbing those rebounds as late in the game as midway through the second quarter. Death grabs.
Another way to think about the Nets salary commits to those four player for the next four years:
The Nets will pay those 4 players an average of $72M per year over the next four years.
The salary cap is $58M this year. But it's going down to $50M next year. Nets are $20M over the cap for four guys. One of whom is a 7-foot center who averages three rebounds per game.

BINGO! After all he has changed his mind in the past. I'd call his bluff.

Boy, ESPN would never hire you.

They got used by Atlanta who just dumped the biggest mistake in their Franchise history on them. Welcome to NY

i agree. i still don't get the lakers interest at all. yeah bynum has had some injuries but he played every game this past season. even though he's made some questionable decisions showing immaturity, none of them are even close to what dwight has done. dwight has shown himself to be an absolute baby. if i alreaday had bynum, i wouldn't be looking to trade him for howard, but that;s just me.

yep. the money is a big issue. being able to tack on that extra year and extra money is going to be hard for dwight to turn down, especially when the only teams with capspace are all second and third level cities.
Dwight is a fool all he had to do was not Opt in and he would have either been traded to the Nets in a sign and trade or he could have just signed with them in the offseason because they had cap space before the Joe Johnson trade. He deserves what he got.

he wanted a S&T for more money, a chance to compete for a title last season, and he didn't want to find a home halfway in the season?
wanted the best of both worlds, now he is stuck, and Orlando will wait for the best offer with Dallas/Houston.
He eventually will probably have to choose between those 2 or Los Angelos.....
Wouldn't be surprised if OKC, enters the picture...
