We learned nothing from the last decade...Bad contracts completely crippled this organization... The same people killing Dolan for not paying will the same people pointing fingers if Lin doesn't pan out...That's a guarantee...I've seen this movie before...
Knicks have done this in the past and it always, I mean always bit the Knicks in their behind. I don't want Lin to go but smart move would be to move on let him go because it is very obvious that he doesn't want to be a Knick.

I think he does want to be a Knick just think he screwed up. There was an absurd article last week that the Knicks would match lin up to a billion dollars. The kid probably figured no matter what he signed an offer sheet for the Knicks would match. Considering Dolan's past performances with terrible contracts I can't blame him. Who would have thought that for once Dolan wouldn't spend?

No one is that stupid, certainly not Lin..Oh I didn't know 15 mil will really screw the Knicks in year 3..Every poster on this board knows this but the Harvard Grad is naive to this...

Wasn't it Lin who said you can't believe everything you read. He should take his own advice. He wants to be a rocket, he and Ming are constantly talking and wouldn't be surprised if Ming is recruiting him to the Rockets. He knows that Rocketshave a big following in China also and that is also one of the reasons that Rockets want Lin so badly to the point where they will over play.

It makes sense for the Rockets to overpay. The don't have anything right now. They will make back Lin's entire contract next season. I really hate to see the kid go but we'll be fine without him.
You don't overpay for 25 regular season games, that's like overpaying 5 playoff game Jerome James in today's NBA.

So true.
I guarantee you as soon as the Knicks don't match then the articles about how dumb Dolan is and how the franchise just screwed itself for not matching will start to hit the press.
If we do re-sign him then the story will be that we overpaid and Lin is a fluke. There is no way to win here.
The decision has to be made purely on whats best for the franchise and how good they think Lin will be.

After the first two sentences, I thought you were talking about the $150 + mil given to MeloStatbury

Well if the Rockets think he is worth it then they are probably right.
Morey is a big Sabermetrics guy - WORKING OUT GREAT FOR HIM/THEM
$25M over three years is a good deal for Lin.
Carmelo is making $64M over those same 3yrs, by the way. Amar'e is making $64M over those same three years, by the way. Felton, Kidd and Camby are making $30M combined over those same 3 years by the way.
$25M for Lin is a fine deal. He will be an utter bargain for the first and second year. And he was an utter bargain last year.
Knicks will get Lin for 4yrs $26M. Compare that to 4yr $83M for Amar'e or 4yr $83M for Melo.
Anyone who says Lin is overpaid at 4yrs $26M is INSANE.

Too much flawed logic in your post. Lin is the salary that will put them over the top kill them in luxury tax in year 3. I will cost them 60 million for that year.
Keep mentioning Melo's salary but I guarantee that any/all teams with cap room would take on Melo's contract in a NY second if they had the opportunity
Lin? Not so sure.
exactly. I've been saying it all along, matching this while paying Melo, Amare and Tyson would eliminate any possibility of flexibility in the future. You don't give this kid Rondo money. I hate losing him but, if Houston wants to vastly overpay him, them we have to move on.

There's no logical flaw. Team rosters fluctuate; they are not static. If (a) Melo is as easy to move as you say he is, (b) Lin is the better buy, and (c) it's important to avoid the luxury tax, the obvious conclusion is to bring back Lin and move Melo for a shorter contract.

Why is it flawed to mention that they're paying Amar'e and Melo three times more than Lin.
Amar'e is the dead weight on the roster, not Lin.
So they're letting their best young player to go to make room for Amar'e's bloated, uninsurable, underperforming contract?
^That is faulty logic.^

Wow, $25 Million for 25 games! $1mill/Game Started. I just thought of that all by myself right now.

3 year for $25 million with over $14 million in year 3 based on 25 games is being overpaid. Comparing Lin to STAT and Melo is absurd.

Also, it should be easy to move players like Camby or Kidd or Felton for a second round pick if they really need to create cap room in Year 3.
Letting Lin go NOW, when he has a VERY FAIR contract for two years is absurd. Worrying about the salary cap THREE YEARS FROM NOW is absurd.
If Lin's offer from Houston were 2yr $10M people would be screaming bloody murder if they didn't re-sign him. The poison pill is ONE YEAR of trying to figure out how to deal with the cap. ONE YEAR.

Brilliant move in trading away our best player for a kid who produced for 25 games.
