The 2004 Pistons did beat the Lakers with Shaq and Kobe in their prime.
Yes they were a great team emphasis on team but who besides the pistons have won without a megastar?
Who played better than the Knicks down the stretch (w/o a PG)? Nobody!
I am very optimistic that we will be a very solid and competitive team this year. We are better than we were with the 18-6 team - a lot better.
Will we win it all? No. Miami will, but I hope to give them a tougher series with a healthier team.
Woody from the onset will be a breath of fresh air
You might want to chop off the first 6 wins of that 18-6 stretch - Lin was still playing PG for those wins.
So - you're raving about a 12-5 stretch where it was basically Melosanity. and complaining about a small sample size with Lin, who started 10-3 before Melo decided to tank and get D'Antoni fired.

Did I say the knicks are worse with Melo? What is your point? Get a grip!

Good catch. People talking about our wonderful finish are really referring to a 12-5 post-lin stretch followed by a 1-4 postseason.
That is why the momentum I heard lin would be out til the 2nd rd after knee surgery the knicks season was over. It was a punch in the gut finding out that afternoon listening to summers on wfan
Posting that aint cool. Anyway, that's old and I have a girlfriend now.

We will have a MUCH BETTER regular season but I don't see us getting past Miami. Well Mr. Dolan, how much is it worth to you to get past them. You have one chance and need to decide by Tuesday...
For most of last year, Toney Douglas, Baron Davis, and Mike Bibby were our PGs. So by getting Felton and Kidd, we've gone from being atrocious to adequate at the PG position, which is a major improvement. I think you're right that this team would struggle against a healthy Miami team though.
Toney was terrible last year as was Bibby (except at the end). Davis was a turn over machine. Yeah, we were bad there. Then Lin came along and it was like Wow! True, we will be adequate now with Felton and Kidd, but I mean that in an average way. My Stat comment is important. We do need Lin to be that other scorer. We are (again) one injury away from a terrible season. Too much is riding on Melo to carry us and Stat to stay healthy AND for them two to play well together. With Lin out there it would be nice.
yeah man, that is his personal life, what u doing stalking him anyway?
I apologize Bonn - thought it was funny.

OK - we traded away most of the team to get Melo and then, shockingly, he had a weak supporting cast, he was an inefficient chucker/ball-stopper, and the team has played at a .472 in games he's played in.

We lost depth at SG by losing Landry (might not have been a good starter but him and JR were ok LY whereas this year, it's basically just JR).
At PG, I don't feel that Kidd/Felton is an upgrade over Lin/Baron.
This off-season has been a failure. If we re-sign Lin....it becomes solid (not great, but definitely good).
You're joking about PG right? BD could barely walk up the court. Lin avg'ed 8 TOs a game for awhile while getting toasted repeatedly by marginal PGs on defense. Felton+Kidd=Less turnovers, more playoff experience, better defense, better shooting. If "Youtube Prigioni" gives us anything, it's net positive over Lin/BD/Bibby/TD.
Lin fans are so much like Tebow fans.
Dude, don't even patronize me like that, I'm here making an argument that statisically, Lin is better and have not appealed to emotions at all.
Nevermind that I've been on these forums a hell of a lot longer than you and a diehard Knicks fan my whole life.....but I've also been a season ticket holder over the past 4 years and have a subscription to synergy where I dissect videos/stats in my spare time (not only looking at Knicks, but many other teams as well)....add to that the fact that I've spent countless hours reading about the CBA and I probably know that better than 95% of the fans that post on here (and the fans that post on here obviously know more than the average fan). When I say Lin is a better player than Felton, I'm making a very educated opinion and not just saying "OMG, we can't lose LIN! He beat Kobe!"
You are in no position to question my fandom after the thousands of $ I've spent supporting this franchise (through tickets, jerseys, etc.) and the countless hours I've spent on Martin and Andrew's fantastic site. I've been a diehard Knicks fan though the 90s, through the Isiah years, and through the Walsh/Grunwald years now. I'm not a bandwagon Lin fan that you can compare to freaking Tim Tebow.
Sorry if it came out singling out you I was talking more to the posters on here that are saying they arent going to be Knick fans if Lin isnt resigned. Lin is better then Felton but what im getting sick of is how most posters are acting like the guy is infallible. This is what i meant by saying Lin fans are like Tebow fans. His mistakes/flaws being completly ignored. They are stepping over the fact the guy backstabbed the Knicks by reworking his deal.My take is Lin doesnt want to be a Knick therefore I dont want him here. Does Lin make the Knicks better, yes but if the guy wants to go to Houston i say be careful coming down the lane when U come to the Garden. I have faith this team is taking the Atlantic with or without Lin.
I also think Kidd and Felton are better then BD and considering Lin didnt play the whole season the Knicks are actually getting better at PG over the course of a whole season from last year.
