Knicks · This offseason is a bust (page 2)

Last 10 games that didnt matter on a depleted lottery team. talk about small sample size! Look I dont mean to dish Felton loved him when he was her under dantoni but im trying to look at the big picture and the future of.thus team.

All of those guys could have been retained if they'd approached them with reasonable contracts on July 1st.

But, nope, they had to get used by Steve Nash who said "NY was never really an option." All that cost us was Fields and pissed off Lin who then decided he wanted to go to Houston for real.

This is one of the most horribly managed off-seasons I've ever seen.

Lin, Fields and Jeffries were three of the best players on the team last year and some of the only reasons the team made the playoffs along with Melo, Tyson and Shumpert.

So the Knicks essentially gave up half of their functional rotation, overpaid Novak, retained JR Smith (they'll have to overpay him next off-season), downgraded PG, signed two 40yr old backups... and traded like five second round picks in the process if you count this year's... Shump is out for half the season to boot.

oh, yeah, Amar'e Stoudemire is now the longest tenured Knick and he punched a fire extinguisher thus ruining any chance of being competitive against the Heat.

Do people think that the record next year will be better winning %?

I agree with your assessment. Steve Nash punked the Knicks again. I put it out there a while ago.

yep, I have said it from the start, going after Nash was a complete waste of time and it steps on Lin's uncertainty, trusts/support/future from the org, and role with the team.
Had, Lin taken, a contract which was not even offered to him for 5m, he would have been an asset to be shipped out in the near future, and he would have no one to blame but himself.
So, why not get the best offer that he can, since the Knick's told him to go test his market value, and he would be matched up to a billion dollars....

Fields was 1 of the best players on the team? Come on seriously. Anybody is better then Fields and it will bve proven this season. I do like Jeffires and sad to see him go but 1 of the best players on the team really.I think we will see him again once he gets cut in Portland.

Yes, I like Walsh. He was building something that was on the route back to the 90's and acutally competing. He left and now once again we are no longer building. Instead we are slapping guys on the roster and hoping that they mesh before they are forced to retire. Who knows maybe it will work.

Problem with Felton is he sucks and we can't expect the MDA Felton because he couldn't do it in other systems.

He sucked last year, but he was solid with Larry Brown. Raymond Felton, assuming he's back in shape, is an average starting NBA point guard. It took him sometime, but he eventually learned to run the pick and roll decently. When he's in shape, he's also a good man to man defender who does a decent job of staying in front of his man. His assist to turnover ratio is usually above the league average and he can push the ball. He can create shots as well as Lin and you can make the case that they shoot three about the same. Jeremy has upside, but I think you can do worse than Felton at point guard if he's in shape. I'm going to give Felton the benefit of the doubt. Will it suck losing Lin? Yeah, it will. But you gotta keep it movin'

I have a feeling Jeffries will end up in Houston if he is cut by Portland. Just call it a hunch.

Come to think of it, it's a good thing the Knicks overpaid Novak early in the off-season. If he had his druthers now, I wonder if he'd choose NY?

I made a post that when the Knicks fired D'Antoni they'd lose Lin, Novak, Fields, Jeffries and others. People mocked me. I guess I only got 3 out of 4.

Like I said thank god they have Kidd because he might be the only one who can Mesh these players together. Lin is absolutely necessary if the Knicks simply for the reason he can help an aging Kidd mesh the talent. I don't see Felton doing this he simply is out of shape and ineffective player.

Camby,Kidd, Felton, Kurt Thomas >>> JJ, Fields, Jorts and Gadzuric.

Fields is horrible dude. Talk about +- all you want. He sucks.

And I'm not conceding that Lin is gone. People need to stop freaking out and look at our entire roster.

I wonder if Kidd would've signed here if he knew the Knicks were gonna let Jeremy Lin walk?

You listen to some people here and they act like Felton is some All-Star that can't be questioned.

Thank you for bringing some sanity Briggs.

You forgot to add Lin in the gone pile.

You're just hoping against hope that all the sources who said the Knicks were acquiring Felton and cutting Lin loose were only right about the Felton part of that report?

It makes no sense. Lin is gone.

crzymdups wrote:I wonder if Kidd would've signed here if he knew the Knicks were gonna let Jeremy Lin walk?

Yeah I've been wondering that too.

There are some serious issues with the new cba. After the birds rights case went the Knicks way it loOked like it was going to be a great offseason. This poison pill b.s. is ridiculous and should be negotiated out. If the Knicks keep Lin I think they had a great offseason.

In about 30 hours, we will no for sure, and whether how many people, will officially give up on this organization....

If we can acquire a penetrate PG like Barea, I believe he can bring the same some of the things that Lin can do, at a cheaper price, but we cannot.....

After this off-season, Lin or no Lin, the Knicks are essentially locked into this roster. We'll be over the tax limit, meaning no sign and trades (again this is with or without Lin) and we've traded most draft picks.

Get ready for 3yrs of wondering when Kidd and Camby will be off the injured reserve.

Get ready for all sorts of horrible boring Isiah era crap.

I actually accidentally called Melo "Marbury" today. We're headed towards that same crap.

Melo makes marbury look god haaha. Man as much as i hate lebron he is 10 times the player melo is. I mean he took a losing team like teh Cavs and made tehm a powerhouse while he was there while melo is a fiirst round exit. Now as a Knicks fan i hope melo finally gets it together but whio knows

I'll admit I'd be shocked if Lin isnt matched.

Even still, I like our roster without him. Much better with him because he's a good player with potential to be great. But without him I still like our roster.

Yeah I've been wondering that too.

Funny that reports of Knicks not matching on Lin and trading for Felton come out Saturday night. Sunday morning we hear Jason Kidd has been arrested for driving drunk.

I drink to forget, too, Jason. I drink to forget, too.

Hmm, if it's consolation it appears Jared Jeffries has some serious knee issues- the Portland GM just commented on it. Maybe we knew JJ was done which is why he was traded (only included for salary reasons). Anyways it seems the Blazers knew that before trading.
