I think the Knicks are still genuinely undecided. I think they want him, are also angry about how it want down and are also looking at the cap angle. It gets really complicated in year 3.
I think they will match, but they gotta come up with a good plan for year 3, at least a hypothetical.
also, why not make Houston sweat a little? but i think it's mainly because they are genuinely undecided.
I think he will cave against the advice given to him by the finance people
Maybe so, but you have no idea what those finance people are telling him. Some quotes from uninterested parties in a Newsday article don't amount to a hill of beans.
The finance people with the Knicks know exactly what Lin is worth to them, for better or for worse.
An NYU professor can give an opinion, but he doesn't know the reality of the checks and balances.
im glad melo "clarified" his remark about the contract but honestly, the media ran with it because that's what they do. why would melo be mad at how much someone else was getting paid? the ridiculous comment was in reference to the structure of the contract and it is just that - ridiculous. the media is the reason guys don't want to play in NY and who can blame them? people take things however they want and report it, it's really pretty pathetic and a testament the kind of world we live in nowadays.
whatever.

I read a number of (financial) articles and true that we don't know anything however, I trust the financial analyst far more than the beat writers. They are dealing with and crunching lots of stats and scenarios.
That certainly does not mean they are correct. They are just analyzing the risk factors.
crzymdups wrote:gunsnewing wrote:Maybe Lin wants to be the man in Houston. He doesnt get that in NY
He also doesn't get to decide whether the Knicks match or not.
Lin doesn't get to decide where he ends up. All Lin has on the table is his bargaining chips and he doesn't have any power on this will play out. In Lin's head, I truly believe he wants to remain as a Knicks if it goes down to it but also, a player like him needs all the support he can get from his team mates. The trust of his coach.
He already lost D'Antoni. He lost his friend Landry too. People he trusted are gone. What is the status on Steve Novak? Knicks a player in Lin and J.R Smith and Melo make it difficult by adding their two cents.
Houston Rockets right now are more than happy to welcome Lin to their city and team. What about the Knicks?

Also, it is definitely not as many fans are making it out to be. "Dolan is so dumb" blah blah blah
Maybe he is dumb but this far from cut and dry.

Lin had the power to choose where he negotiated for a contract offer initially. Now the Knicks get the right to match. Seems mostly fair.
(and the Knicks re-signed Novak)
...and who exactly is on the Rockets these days?

I'd believe Melo except he also said he didn't have anything to do with D'Antoni "resigning," that he didn't request a trade from DEN... etc
I was just thinking about that - And how he said that he had no idea that there was an issue with him and MDA
Why does anyone put stock into what he says anyway?
I have said before that I think melo is sincere about not knowing there were issues with mike. I think Mike represented himself as a very easy going guy when he really was very high strung. I think guys o. The u s team especially view him this way. I remember the day mike resigned melo was interviewed and said he was shocked and that he was. Going to text him to see if he was ok. I also think Hahn nailed it when he said melo and mike were very similar guys. He said they were both very stubborn and passive aggressive if I remember correctly.

Great idea...
Kidd can be his chauffeur, Felton his dietician, and Camby and KT will be his bodyguards.

Means he is as good as dead- from a car accident, cholesterol, or attack.
I dont believe Melo meant what he said with Malice toward Lin. I just wish he would stop commenting on everything he is asked about. Please Melo go watch tape on how Eli and Jeter deflect the NY media U will save yourself a lot of heat

I know how he meant it but it's still the line of the year..I think it's Halarious...I think Melo is an honest dude to a fault much like Iverson...He let Denver know exactly what he was doing so they could get something in return, Unlike Bron and the way DHow handle their situations..

+ 100
I figured thats what Melo meant all along but unfortunately, with so many media outlets nowadays, they run with half story's in hopes of pushing them out before the competition. then the fans eat it up and start picking sides. Those who are not very fond of Melo took this story used it as a "See, I knew he didnt like Lin, etc...." Its a joke really. I'm also positive after reading this article, the media nor the fans he jumped to conclusion will retract any statements.

yeah, when the knicks let lin go it'll be yet another situation melo had ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with. just like d'antoni. just like the trade.

If you chose to ignore the context of melo's words and think he will be the reason that the Knicks don't sign Lini think you are way off. Have you read any of the reports that said Lin and his representatives sought to restructure the original deal? Maybe Santa clause is involved and thinks Dolan was bad this year and that is why the original contract was restructured.I

Show me an example of a player getting bashed for saying nothing to the media and minding his own business. Melo says stupid things and he gets called on it. He is an attention whore and can't keep his mouth shut. It's amazing how people make deny reality and make sh!t up to blame other people.
Funny how Melo is always the bad guy, yet people are threatening with their lives if Jeremy Lin is gone. I know, all the issues with Melo's trade, jada jada, but the guy is a Knick and instead of rooting for him, we seem to always find a way to spin his actions negatively.
What are you saying, if Lin leaves it not Melo's fault???

I don't know of anyone who has threatened someone's life over Lin leaving the Knicks -whatever the heck that means.
