This thread is strictly hypothetical
You don't even know what "hypothetical" means, do you?
Of course I know what it means. Stop attacking my grammary.
You're just throwing out red meat for the linsaniacs to get your sick kicks!

Well trading away young assets bothers me, however, we have a 3 year window and the greeks were not really gonna help us in this window.
Could they have been traded for better assets? Maybe - but I don't know since I am not a GM negotiating deals.

I agree that we have a 3 year window. But sometimes you have to be patient. We gave up cash, and 3 second round picks for a guy that was not wanted by his team. Why? desperation. This gets us no closer to a title. Instead of remaining patient and seeing if something better coems along, we instead made a move for moves sake. We hated Lin so we rushed out and gave up multiple assets for a player that consistently comes to camp overweight. What's next? 3 first round picks and Shumpert, plus cash considerations for Eddie Curry?

The Greeks? They haven't been relevant since season 2....

Can we please stop with the name calling already? The same 3-4 guys are doing the same thing on each thread and destroying everyone else's opportunity to actually follow the thread.
I think this was the wrong move in every way possible and there is nothing I have read over the last few days that make any kind of viable argumment towards not matching Lin. People with ego problems and BS theories about Lin doublecrossing the knicks and other crap can go jump for all I care. Without Lin our offense will go nowhere and will be as bad as last year. And that was plenty bad.

If you've already read every viable argument, why can't we just call each other names for the next five hours while we wait for the actual decision to be announced?

Our offense wasn't that bad with Felton running the show two season ago. Felton should be bale to run the pick and roll if he's in shape. Kids is a solid passer. He can't get in the paint anymore, but he can still read defenses.

Well when Douglas and Shumpert are trying to run the point of course the offense will be bad. It wont be that way with kidd and Felton not even close

This man, better come to play
He averaged 14 and 8 in the final month of the year. Not to say that is a huge thing, but at least he finished on a strong note.
munco@ 7/17/2012 7:07 PM
Losing Lin for Felton is a downgrade. Lin has a lot of potential but you can't say the same for Felton who's been in the league for 7? years. If nothing else how are we getting nothing for Lin. Why not sign him and trade him later this year? I have a hard time believing we're better by picking up a bunch of guys nearing age 40 and losing one of our best young players.

We actually have 3 actual PG's on the team this year. MDA is no longer the coach. We can get 14 points and 6-8 assist from Felton which is whay Lin was & would be doing in the offense. The kid went after the most $$$ and got it. Good for him bu it doesn't change my feeling towards a solid Knicks team going into the season.

A team going for it now can't rely on a work in progress. Felton has been in the league for 7 years and we know exactly what we can expect from the guy. How many teams are goign to line up for a $14.8 million payout without requiring to send us a bad contract in return?

Shumpert two years from now decides to test the market. Are you okay with letting walk? Would you say good for him? We have a very small window and so far the two best teams in the nba are light years ahead of us. Wasting assets is lunacy. How can you be happy with that?

If Shumpert signs somewhere and we don't match the reaction will be the same: "F him that backstabbing loser, took more money to go elsewhere than stay and win in NY with great ownership. Anyone who doesn't agree can gtfo because they're fake fans who are just bandwagon Shumpert fans! Go become Net fans or fans of (insert Shumpert's new team here)!".
Bippity10@ 7/17/2012 7:19 PM
Why do we keep comparing Lin to Felton. That is irrelevant. What is important is a front office letting a young asset walk.
If we can't wait for a work in progress, why not dump shumpert for Raja Bell. We know what Raja brings
earthmansurfer@ 7/17/2012 7:20 PM
It's pretty clear that letting Lin walk was a personal decision, not a basketball one. Makes no sense. With the players we have we are looking at a 3 year window, maybe a bit longer. You don't let Lin go now.
We have a decent big 3, the problem is this: Melo - A bit too ISO, I do like him though. No huge complaints. Stat - his back is going to be something to watch out for. Remember, he hurt it two years ago at the end of the season (related to the bulge) and again last year. Chandler - Love the guy, but he has no offensive game outside of dunks and putbacks, etc. I love the guy - heart and sole. My point is, the two preceding players are our offense. One of them goes down and we are done for the playoffs. We'll be find in the regular season.
We need Lin to be that consistent 3rd scorer. Oh man, what a terrible terrible day in Knicks History. Lowest point by far, not a close second.

I think Felton is capable of playing at a high level but letting Lin walk for nothing is ridiculous. Play Kidd at SG and Felton comes off the bench. Instantly better.
