Knicks · RAY FELTON....SERIOUSLY PEOPLE?!! (page 1)

It's not Felton's fault that Lin wasn't brought back. It's amazing to me that so many are hating on him when so many were upset when he was included in the Melo trade. Lin may be a better scorer but Felton is the better PG at this point in time and the right guy to play point for this team.

Felton has always been a solid player but people feel it necessary to bitch and moan about his weight without training camp having even started and the season still over 3 months away. Yes, he's coming off of a bad season with the Blazers but his play was more of a result of Nate McMillan changing on the fly as to how he wanted the offense run while McMillan also kept changing the rotations. Afetr McMillan was bounced Rays numbers were solid.

Felton is a solid PG and never wanted to leave the Knicks. He'll be playing with a chip on his shoulder to prove that his time with the Blazers was an aberration. Just as important is that he wants to be here. At worst we have a guy who can give us 13 and 6 a night under Woody who knows how to run an offense.

Seriously, some of you are just too much. People seem to have short memories as far as how good Ray was when he was with us the first time around and I'm not talking about his numbers under MDA. I'm talking about how hard he played and how he left it all out on the floor for us. He did it for is once and he wants and will to do it for us again.

Ray is ok and a nice pickup. Is he as good as Lin? No. Lin's upside? Not even close. Since being traded from NY he's pouted and gotten fat. Has Felton dominated games as Lin has? Lin hit more clutch shots in 25 games then Felton has in the NBA.

I dont think people are doggin Felton, just the move of replacing Lin with him. Im not thrilled about it either

I serious think that if Amare/Melo/Chandler took a pay cut like Lebron and Wade did we could have kept Lin. Lin has alot of upside but in the same extent in the coach's system we need a PG that shoots less, distribute more and turn the ball over less. So I have mixed feelings with Felton and Lin stories

I thought under the new CBA players can't renegotiate their contracts to take a cut - are you saying they should have taken less in the first place? It's a totally different situation here - Miami ha 3 guys who colluded I play together. Amare came to NY on his own an Melo came later. Sure they could have had a master plan and taken less but it's not like they were both FA and signed contracts together to come play at MSG.

It is what it is, and they need to produce now.

Everyone wants to $hit on Felton, Felton was doing the exact same things that lin was doing except he had a fully engaged Amare who was ballin crazy during the first half of that season and Felton was even being considered an Allstar reserve. Felton beat Calderon and the Raptors the same way Lin did the year before. Climb down off of the ledge people!!! The team will be fine, now we are rooting for a single player and not the team. We know Dolan is who he is and that is not changing. I have been gut punched by this team numerous times over my twenty-plus years of being a fan. Let's get excited or try to get excited about this upcoming team. Go NY! Go NY! Go!

True they didn't sign at the same time but when Melo was harping to come back to NY he could say I will take less to be where I wanted to be.

The CBA was up in the air

Felton would have been the perfect backup PG, and would have been a much better insurance policy than possibly watching JKidd trying to wring 35 minutes a game out of his almost dead body if Lin and Shump both went down...

And having Felton would have made the second unit that much more deep, especially if they were going to play Kidd with Lin at times.

The options would have been endless...

The main question to solve here is who's fatter, Ray or Melo? I think I smell a poll!

I don't think you will find any player that did this when they could get the max.

If 2-3 players are coming in together and they can collaborate ala Lebron/Wade/Bosh, that is a diff story.

Felton's in for a rough ride around here if fans are going to continue to view him as "Lin's replacement" and "the reason we didn't sign Lin".

Ray Felton also hit a game winning shot against the Raptors.

Has Felton dominated a game like Lin before? Absoultely!

11/19/10 - Felton with the Knicks against the Warriors
35 Points
5 rebounds
11 Assists
1 Block
4 Steals

12/6/10 - Against the Wolves
18 Points
11 Assists
4 Steals

12/8/10 - Against the Raptors
28 points
11 assists
1 block
2 steals

12/15/10 - Against the Celtics
26 Points
14 Assists

1/7/11 - Triple doible against the Suns
23 Points
10 Rebounds
11 Assists

The mistake people seem to be making is Felton vs. Lin, not Lin vs. the $$$$.

Linsanity was fun and a good time but no doubt playing in MDA's system had a lot to do with it as well as know one knowing who the hell Lin was. I'm not taking anything away from the kid....there is no question he can play.

Will he put up numbers as good as when he was running with MDA? Probably not
Can he put up better #'s than he did under Woodson? Maybe
Who is the true Jeremy Lin? Is he a solid backup, a solid starter, an all star? It's a difficult question to answer based on a 25 game run and less than 60 games as a starter.

Ask yourself a serious question.... Do you truly beleive that Lin going to be good as Nash, Paul, Rondo or Westbrook? Who has better potential Lin or Kyrie Irving?
Now ask yourself is Lin worth a payday of $14.8 million?

If Lin does indeed become a close to max level player, he will be a FA in 3 years, he will test the market and the Knicks will have a ton of cap space. This could be nothing for than a good bye for now see you later ala Nash in PHX.

It was never Felton to replace Lin. It was Felton as an alternative to Lin. There is big difference there.

I have been saying this to all of the misguided and to the PRO LIN and Anti-Knick people out there. Honestly we are ignoring the basketball facts and just falling prey to the hype of "Linsanity". We all know Dolan's involvement has not garnered much in terms of respect and credibility but, this team is built with guys that want to be here and want to prove something. I can see this team come together now that hopefully all this B.S media circus stuff is over. Let's move on and see what this newly formed Knicks squad will do. Ray Felton and Prigioni and Kidd should be able to hold it down. Climb down off the ledge people!!!

this is the official "shut the fuck up about the Fat Felton bullshit" video....mega props for whoever made this....

You may lock this thread and ban all the haters from this moment forth

I'm pleased Felton is back- he wanted to be here and although he had his ups and downs, generally played well when he was a Knick. I like his toughness and that he and Amar'e played well together. I am worried about his conditioning, mainly due to being scarred from the eddy curry years- I hated waiting every year to see if he'd lost weight, only to find he'd piled on the pounds.

He doesn't need to be thin, but at the least he has to be the same weight he was last time he was with us. I'm rooting for him though- definitely doesn't deserve the hate he's been getting on these boards- he's not to blame for Lin going.

if Ray's in shape, he's a better fir for the team *next* year (long-term is a whole different discussion). But I really do question his ability to come to camp in shape. If he comes in fat the whole thing goes to shit. He needs to play high motor basketball and drive to score. If he turns into a fat chucker I'll snap

People generally have a short memory. It's always, what have you done for me recently? And shooting 40% from the field and 30 from deep isn't helping. Felton could outplay Lin, but I'll never be content knowing we should have both on our roster right now...

Lin is getting 8 million a year or about an average starting PG. He doesnt really have to be Chris Paul to be viewed as worth the money. I dont think he is irreplacable but comparing him to D Williams ,Paul,Rondo isnt fair if he makes half the dough

There's some very recent pics of Felton from the past few days someone posted the link on realgm- it's good news!:

Awesome, he doesn't look portly like that picture from a month ago!

I have hopes for Felton. He can be a good fit here and brings immediate chemistry with Amare and he's a good defender. The pricetag is great but the downside is the price is right because Felton was out of shape and is coming off a career low year.
