You know soon as the two weeks are up Amare won't even think about and try to replicate what he learned under Hakeem. Nice try By Amare though because it takes many month to master up and under moves and make them instinctive.

how many weeks did Kobe or LeBron spend with the master?

I have no idea how much time they spent with Hakeem. But players like Kobe and James have an easier time learning footwork that biger players do.

Maybe he should start playing soccer....develop some foot speed first. Then learn how to use that speed.

VMart - who said anything about a lifetime of moves? A 30-second Vulcan mind meld is a fantasy. However, breaking bread and talking ball with a Hall of Famer is priceless.

Like Yogi said, "you can observe a lot by just watching."

Amar'e is making productive use of his Summer vacation. That can only be a positive.

What's the problem?

I have no problem with it. I'm just saying he should spend more time with Hakeem and really get the footwork down. Two weeks is not enough.

I only have a problem with one thing what took so long for Amare to get help.

I agree but maybe Hakeem didn't want to do that. I think it is better than nothing.

What are you talking about? 1st of all STAT already has the ability to move very well for a guy his size. He's not a clumsy bigman. STAT just has to pickup the basic principles of what Hakeem is teaching and then continue to work on those moves on his own. Jump hooks, spin moves and drop steps aren't the only thing Hakeem is teaching. He's teaching how he actually thought the game and that is a huge plus for a guy with STAT's talent.

If you look at some STAT highlight videos you can see that he has some agility to do spin moves, but they aren't refined. He could be so much better in the post with real go to moves where he ends up in better scoring position. It's amazing he's able to get some of his shots to go in off balance and shows that he's very good at adjusting. If he learns Hakeem's moves he'll be MUCH better off in terms of being in better position to shoot.

Hakeem has some of the best footwork ever.

No one in the game plays like that- not even lebron.

What did lebron implement from hakeem? Nothing I saw- lebrons move was to drive in from the three point line for the dunk or foul

Nice outside j by amare, no post moves though

Obviously there aren't a lot of post ups which is why he's trying to add that to his game The video was to show that he has the ability to move well already and just needs to refine the footwork and overall gameplan to effectively post up and use the moves Hakeem will teach him. The point is that STAT should be able to execute the spin moves cuz he's agile enough to do it. He's not some big lumbering player that lacks agility.

Has Amare ever taken the ball in the post and implemented a turn around jumper? I have never seen him do that. Amare post game is a huge work in progress 2 weeks simply isn't enough.

not sure why you keep harping on the "2 weeks". These basketball players sometimes train all summer until training camp. It's 2 weeks with Hakeem and you couldn't tell me what other players did in similar situation.

It's a starting point and let's hope Amare takes the condensed tutoring and refines it on his own after walking away from Houston.

That's right it's a starting point and to answer Vmart's questions YES Amare has taken and made turnaround jumpers in his career!

At 0:24 of this video he posts up and hits a turnaround jumper.

It's sad how many NY fans have developed such a lack of respect for Amare's talent. The guy has one bad year and all of a sudden he can do anything in their eyes.

Just the year before STAT was playing like this video shows:

Nixluva, thank you for the clips. You really had to dig for one turn around jumper and that to came when he was a Sun. Showing highlight of pre back injury Amare is what we have come to. All I have been saying is Amare needs more time with Hakeem. I know two weeks or any kind of training will help Amare get a better post game. I never doubted Amare's ability to get his shots off I guess I always felt that Amare should be a better post player.

The two weeks not being enough is a bad arguement. It's like saying that 24 hours with Jessica Alba is not enough - no sh!t. !!!
