Brewer. Smith's shot selection is not good enough and Kidd is not an SG.
Ronnie by default. Cant start JR with Melo & Amare on the floor. If Kidd were to start it would be meaningless because he is good for only 15-20 minutes at 39
Gotta hope that not playing with a ballhog like Rose will help Brewer score on some broken plays with ability to move without the ball
how about Pablo? extra ball handler, established veteran, etc etc.. I would think he's in the mix to win that spot.
If I had to choose from the above give me Brewer for defense
Brewer. Set the tone early in games with D. Hated when Fields and Douglas started the games last season, and we'd fall into holes in the 1st quarter.
Fell into double digit deficits in the 1st & 3rd quarters

I disagree, he is closer to a SG than a PG because of his age/lack of quickness/ability to penetrate.
As players get older, many move up in their positions to make up for their physical abilities, like KG and Billups have done effectively.
He is a closer to a SG and even play SF at times, with a PG's passing ability, but without the ability to penetrate, so penetration must come from another position.
Kidd is very strong and played SG/SF with a 3 guard lineup when Dallas won the championship.
Barea sometimes started throughout the year and played 6th man majority of the time.
Finishing out games in playoffs, Everyone took turns sitting besides Chandler/Dirk/Terry
Barea/ Terry / Kidd
Terry/ Kidd/ Brewer
Kidd/Marion
Dirk/Marion/
Chandler/ Haywood/ Mahimi
these were the lineups that were used to finish out games.
Basically the trick is to be able to create a mismatch and be capable of playing with the ball as well as off the ball to the lineups strengths.
While Chandler/Dirk/Marion both covered a lot of the weaknesses of the team together
Last year lineups...
Delonte West/Terry/ Kidd/Beaubois
Terry/ Kidd/ Carter
Carter/ Marion/Kidd
Dirk/ Mahimi/ Wright
Haywood/ Mahimi/ Wright

Dude we signed Ronnie Brewer not Corey Brewer. Ronnie is only 27.

I know that, I am just pointing out Dallas's roster and how Kidd played SG/SF these past years.
Also, I do agree Brewer is the better option for us at STARTING SG.
Brewer, with J.R. coming off the bench. There will be some occasions where both Kidd and Felton will be in the back court together, though.
To be honest I haven't seen enough of Brewer lately to give you a definitive answer. I remember how Smith played at times last season

Don't mind that they signed him though, considering he wasn't a big cap hit.
I'm really hoping Woodson is going into training camp with the attitude that the starting SG spot is open to whoever earns it.
That's right!!! Don't sleep on Pablo!
I think it'll be Ronnie so JR can bring his scoring off the bench.
Think Kidd might start at PG though, will most definitely finish, with Felton playing the majority of minutes.
Brewer by default. JR Smith is our only scoring off the bench and Kidd is too old.
Felton and RONNIE BREWER as your starting backcourt? Yeah, that should strike fear into opposing defenses.
Charlie Ward and Doug Christie, anyone?
So in Woody world you only need two options on offense, is that the plan?
Then again, could starting Brewer be any worse than watching Landry's jumper?
Just because he took less money, showing that he's a team player, with the same objective as the other vets (win now).....Start him. This would send a message to the entire team, and also make Brewer feel good about his decision to turn away 3 mil from other teams, and just take the vet min.
But I agree, it's also by default.
Man, Brewer allows us to play so many lineups....We have players that can play multiple positions, which gives Woodson almost too much flexibility (if thats possible)
Look at the different positions everybody can play....Looking at defense and past experiences!
Felton - PG/SG
Kidd - PG/SG
Pablo - PG/SG
Smith - PG/SG
Shump - PG/SG/SF
Brewer - SG/SF/PF
Melo - SG/SF/PF
Stat - PF/C
Kurt - PF/C
Camby - PF/C
Chandler - C
Now we have a team that fits Mike Woodson's switching scheme. And I think thats an excellent defense. It's always easier to switch on defense, vs trying to get around a pick, when the ref doesn't call that hold. It helped me win multiple championships in several top level rec leagues. When you have a team of players that are long, athletic with the ability to guard multiple positions, your team defense will be amongst the best. The entire roster can hold their own against faster, stronger or bigger players. Including a healthy Stat.
Last year, we didn't have this flexibility on defense, and other teams would exploit that weakness...aka Jeremy Lin (lol)
Brewer was not getting more than the vet min. The $4mil contract was a bit bloated after playing next to Deron in Utah

Ronnie Brewer turns down Wolves, who appear to have other targets

Just call Minnesota Timberwolves president of operations David Kahn the Adam Dunn of the NBA.
He's connected occasionally this month, signing free agents Brandon Roy, Alexey Shved and Greg Stiemsma.
But his swinging-and-missing continued on Tuesday, when a league source indicated that free-agent guard Ronnie Brewer chose a one-year contract from the New York Knicks over an offer from the Wolves.
Kahn has also missed out on Jordan Hill (re-signed with the Lakers) and Nic Batum (the Blazers matched an offer sheet).
With many free agents still available, of course, the Wolves still have options.
A source said they continue to maintain daily dialogue with agent Mark Bartelstein, who represents unrestricted free agents Dominic McGuire and Carl Landry and restricted free agent Brandon Rush. It's not known if the Wolves are more focused on one of those players over the others.
Another source said they have now initiated contact through text messaging with free-agent guard Jodie Meeks' camp. The Wolves did not reach out to them through the first three weeks of free agency -- another indication they are moving on to Plans C, D, E and beyond.
so we don't know yet........
This position as become a joke in NBA..you campare the SG now to the SG in Jordans day and it's laughable..
ronnie brewer (if he's a defensive specialist) should get the Nod

Yeah the SG position has downgraded tremendously. Center position has too in terms of dominance, but its a different type of player at the C position now than in the 90s. PG, SF, and PF positions are better i believe than ever before.
