Knicks · Perfect storm to swing casual fans to Brooklyn Nets (page 2)

Nets suck. I will never root for them. Their Dwight Howard pursuit was a joke and their team is old as hell. In four years they'll be paying a combined $35M to JUST 35yr old Joe Johnson and 35yr old Gerald Wallace. ICk.

Still doesn't mean I'm exactly thrilled with the way the Knicks have thrown away their best young player in years for nothing.

What if your girlfriend said to you.....if you really loved me you would buy me that 25m house, if you don't buy me it, i will find someone who will. Would you buy her that house or wish her the best of luck. If Lin wanted to be a Knick, he would be one

Geesh, are we at that again? There's no love in 25 games. You talk about love to a girl you dated for a few weeks? You must be fresh off of mother's milk. Come on. The Knicks/Jimmy Dolan screwed this up financially, talked too fast too soon in public, and had to bite the bullet shot from Houston at the end. Who cares about Jeremy Lin anymore? Knicks were already doomed back when Jimmy Dolan took over, nothing was done positively for last 12-13 years because of him taking over. Several players that left the Knicks in that 12-13 years already got a championship ring. I don't care about others jumping to new brighter ship in Nets because frankly, I must be a masochist to stay a Knicks fan for almost 40 years. Others might want to stop taking prozac. Let them be. I wish them luck. I'm staying a Knicks fan furiously watching Jimmy Dolan to die (only because he won't sell the team since many other idiotic fans are STILL paying him money by buying tickets and apparels.)

Should have kept curry ad turiaf, we'd be champions by now.

If you become a net fan now and claim to have been a knick fan you are a fair weather, band wagoner. Nothing wrong with going to see them but switching but switching allegiance because they have new unis, new players, or a new location is something no one over12 should be doing. Toodaloo phonys.

Ok, got it. Your user name is james lin, you joined the UK when linsanity started and you are angry with Dolan, you don't like breasts and you are off your prozak...did i miss anything?

Novak, Smith and Brewer all signed for less money then they could have gotten on the FA market , but all 3 wanted to play here and have said so. Lin is a greedy piggy wiggy and you are pissed at Dolan for not matching a poison pill contract. I think you are the one who needs to grow up. I am not pissed at anyone. I root for the team, not individual players. Players come and go, the team is forever and i think we are improved from last year.

That's the attitude! James Dolan needs alot of you. Sure his ineptness has ruined this team for 12 years, but as long as you are compliant, complacent, and conformist, he can get away with what he wants.

I guess the growing contingent of people sickened by Dolan's ownership, all the way back to Ewing's dumping to the Lin debacle, can just sit home and watch the Knicks on TV, not support by buying tickets, or merchandise. Or they can....

Point is I've been a Knicks fan since the day they drafted Mark Jackson at #18. Still remember it and the look on his face. But you know what? 12 years of Dolan has really, really made re-examine things.

I love mjax. I was a fan long before he was drafted but my extreme passion for the team began after the Ewing draft. I have been frustrated with Dolan I the past especially during the Isiah and lateen eras. That being said, I don't see Dolan as the target of frustration right now. If you study the situation and the cba the Knicks could not resign lin. HG

And the reason being putting aside old stories of Dolan and last decade of embarrassments the last events of Walsh, MDA, and Lin departures.
Talk about conspiracy... but it is a perfect turn of events for Nets to establish solid NYC fan base.
They already get 10K of season tickets and press is good.
So who will be the NYC Clippers?

after reading all of your anti knick posts when lin chose the rockets over the knicks my gusse is you are heading to brooklyn.good luck, perosnally I like the bulls colors and the lakers. If a team comes back with teal like the hornets had I don/'t care man I am going with them. FYI Net skirts go on sale septemper 1st. They are black with white letters spelling the nets.

If your able to just switch who u root for your not a Real fan.I went to Nets games during the Kidd era because i enjoy Bball , cheap tickets and i loved watching Kenyon Martin in his prime but I couldnt go out and buy a Nets jersey. For me if u could stand those putrid teams Layden put on the court with like 5 undersized power forwards and 4 bad PG's why would u leave this team. If u were going to drop the Knicks why did u stomach those teams under Layden and Isiaih. The moves under those guys were far worse. The Layden teams filled with unathletic vets with zero upside made me want to rip my eyes from the sockets. U sat through Clarence Weatherspoon but now with Carmelo Anthony u want to leave. U sat through Travis Knight.Michael Doleac but Tyson Chandler and Marcus Camby makes u want to walk. How about Howard Eisly but Raymond Felton and Jkidd makes u go to the Nets. Should of left then and saved that decade of putrid Bball

This thread I thought was to discuss the "causual fan" not a "proclamation" to validate ones own KnickLove or define others.

There are legions of sports fans who don't know about Dolan like we do, nor the hideous escapades that construct the Reign of Isiah.

They (casual) flocked to Linsanity in amusement and think Melo is superstar because he is marketed like one. The casual fan flocks to the story because it is entertainment.

If the Knicks become seriously relevant in the world of sports you will have to share them with the casual. Will the long suffering "UK" crowd stand up and say "hey, were were you during the Rory Sparrow Era?", or "If only Jackie "Blue" Butler kept his weight down!" and think you'll be special? You won't. Kids will proclaim the kNicks as their favorite teams and all the bandwagon will get full. Make room and enjoy the success.

How you start a new generation of fans? It starts with a "MOMENT" they can remember and feel good about. For some it was Starks head butt, the dunk, Larry's 4 pt play, Houston's miami shot, etc. Big game with purpose create moments. Winning a playoff game in 11 years don't do it. Nor does regular season "Moments" but it don't hurt either (Linsanity, DLees improbable tip in). Think about it, most of you are fans because of a "Moment" and it was during an intense playoff run. For me it was the 1971-1974 Knick Era that galvanized it. I watched Earl in Baltimore. I saw "Alcinder's" rise and Wilts decline. I felt Bostons improbable return with Cowens in 1974 dethrone the Knicks. And it hurt! They Traded Clyde. That hurt.

Knick fans are already in place. We talking the causual.

I do admit, im a bigger fan of Prokorhov than Dolan. The man is self made and has a plan. Don't know how it ends up of course but thats the fun of it all.

President of Nets:

Dolan fired Checketts because he wanted to show the world what he could do. He did.

I don't want casual fans rooting for my team. I'll be glad if Brooklyn is giving them a place to loiter.

Dolan and MSG wants the casual fan. They pay the bills.

Reason Knicks won't properly rebuild is the casual fan won't have it. They won't reject it, they will just change channels.

Nets may face the same problem.

NYC gets double the Starphuch!

...wait, Hump got a $12M per contract!?
And to think, that's only the fourth worst contract Brooklyn took on this offseason. Joe Johnson $90M over 4 years, Brook Lopez $60M over 4 years, and Gerald Wallace $40M over 4 years are all much, much worse. At least Humphries' contract is only for 2 years.

And yet they seem to be getting nothing but praise- if we had signed the same players to the same deals, we would be a laughing stock.

It's like when you read the offseason reviews/grades, and the same writer will say: Ray Allen- great signing! Steve Nash- great signing! Jason Kidd and Marcus Camby- oh! They're old! The Knicks just got older! They're 40 years old! Ray Allen and Steve Nash are old too, and could just as easily be washed up in a season or two.

Root the way you want and I will but with constructive criticism.

If you wish to be a "dye in wool homer" thats your choice. Bashing other teams to elevate the one you love is admirable. Just don't expect me to go along.

I look up at MSG and the ceiling is pretty barren.

Nets came form the cellar, moved across two rivers in a new building and have some players now. Knicks have some competition. If you like being the king of NY hoop with a .500 win one and done team because the nets suck thats not much.

What's the difference between negativity and your constructive criticism?

Constructive criticism can make things better, blind negativity is as pointles as blind positivity.
But blind positivity is straight way to hell... But it is cool to be paid by the master to spread one around.
