Knicks · Say "Good Morning" to: Ray Felton, Ronnie Brewer, Jason Kidd, James White, Kurt Thomas, Marcus Camby, and possibly The (page 4)

Nah, Lin won't turn the ball over in Houston. He's only 24 and he will get better. He also has a better handle than Nash and Rondo.
you know your argument is weak when it basically boils down to having distort what your opponent says.
also, check out felton's handle.
i like Ray and I can root for him.
that post was in response to the idea that Felton has a better handle than Lin or is somehow a better point guard due to fewer turnovers.
the one thing i'll say is that i think Felton may be better for chemistry because Lin needed to shoot a good amount to be most effective and that didn't seem to fit with Melo. Felton's personality fits this Knicks team better, I think.
i just think Lin is already the vastly superior player and if it's a question between 3yrs $25M for Lin and 4yrs $18M for felton, i would take Lin every single time.
also, the flaw with what you just said is that it goes both ways - Lin played hard for the Knicks. it wasn't his decision not to come back. why dump on one of the most exciting players the knicks have had in years because the owner decided not to bring him back?
crzymdups wrote:I agree about Felton being a better fit and aand I also agree ab out not dumping on Lin. I am not sure what happened with his contract and unlike others I am not sure that it was a Dolan decision. Grunwald has proven himself to be a very cerebral guy. Dodging the Rockets offer suggests that he knew the cap impact and was desprately trying to find away to sign Lin and remedy the cap impact in my opinion. There has been a lot of sensationalism on both sides of the media in regards to the Knicks not matching and the cap impact. I think the new cba is very punitive and restrictive in year three. I think not retaining Lin was a business decision and I don't think it was one Grunwald or the Knicks as an organization arrived at easily. I also don't think they are positive they made the right move but I think they felt that they had to make that decision. I am of the opinion that in the Lin situation the new cba sucks not Grunwald or Dolan. I have been very critical of Dolan, especially during the Isiah years, but I don't think this about him reacting emotionally. The Knicks had 3 days plus the day Grunwald dodged the rockets to make the decision. Emotional reactions are usually immediate. I don't think this was an easy decision and I don't know if there is a villian other than Daryl MOrey.CrushAlot wrote:crzymdups wrote:A couple of things in regards to Felton and your post. Felton is in that second tier. So is Lin....
It angers me how people can let their fanboy feelings about a player cloud all judgment and reason.
I'm Lin's biggest fan and i write blogs proving that. But i can't take this nonsense.

Off the top of my head here's a list of NBA pg's who are definitely better than Felton: Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, Ricky Rubio, Darren Collison, Kyrie Irving, Rajon Rondo, Steve Nash, Kyle Lowry, Goran Dragic, Ty Lawson, Mike Conley, Brandon Jennings, John Wall, Tony Parker, and Jeremy Lin. And you could make the argument that Stephen Curry, Jrue Holliday, Jose Calderon, and Rodney Stuckey are better as well.

VCoug - yours is a silly game. The whole idea of "better" is silly. Winning basketball is not the same as flipping baseball cards and everyone who studies winning basketball teams knows it.
The moment you said John Wall you lost all credibility. Want evidence?Check the Wizards body language and total lack of cohesion. No thank you.
Raymond Felton could be last in every criteria that you determine makes him the worst point guard in this history of the NBA, but you know what? He could still be a perfect fit with four other guys who play off him and with him.
That is all that matters.

John Wall is a young player who's been stuck on terrible teams with crazy teammates like Javale McGee and Andray Blatche. Ray Felton's first two years in the league Charlotte won 26 and 33 games and he shot under 40% from the field. There's at least 15 players on that first list if we traded Felton straight up for them we'd immediately be a better team. Except for Steve Nash's and Jeremy Lin's defense, every single one of those players is at least as good at Felton at every aspect of basketball.

No, he's not. We wouldn't be able to trade Felton straight up for a single one of those players. Every single one of those players has at least two skills better than Felton and a lot of them are better than Felton at everything. Also, Felton isn't better than any of those players at anything except for Nash and Lin's defense.

Can you tade Lin straight up for any one of those players? Especialy with a $14.8 million pay day?
Felton at his worst in Portland. ![]()
Kidd 5
Felton 2
Camby 23
Kurt 40
Brewer 11?
Pablo ?
This season needs to get here already.
Q. sealy - Outta curiosity, any jersey numbers yet for the new guys? I assume it'd be:
Kidd 5
Felton 2
Camby 23
Kurt 40
Brewer 11 (good call sealy)
Pablo 9 Just because Jared Jeffries isn't walking through that door
James White wore 33 with the Spurs, he will take any digit he can get
Chris Copeland will be overjoyed to have a locker at MSG, give him 4

At this very moment, probably not. But there's a chance you could in the future. There's a 99% chance that you'd never be able to trade Felton for those guys.

I can agree with that. At the end of the day with Lin it's going to be let's see what the kid turns out to be.

Ha well unfortunately I am a lifelong Jets fan who sees nothing but disaster this year for them, so I really "can't wait" for the NBA season to start.
The scoring numbers are down, but (Camby) still manages to make that rainbow jumper at a decent rate. More importantly, Camby’s assist rate was third highest among centers. All he has to do his play 15-20 mpg off the bench and be better than Jared Jeffries. The bar is set pretty low. Last season, Melo thrived at the four so hopefully Woodson spells Stoudemire early, better yet make him a super sub, so Melo gets moe time there. Camby, compared to Jeffries, will do a better job hiding Stoudemire’s weaknesses (rebounding and any understanding defensive rotations) and compliment is scoring strengths by setting him up more.
- AC, Knicksbricks
Marcus Camby is a huge off season acquisition. Along with his rebounding, Camby's passing (high school point guard) ability will give the offense better flow.

Not sure how you can write in cement that Lin is better than Felton when Lin has been an NBA starter for only 25 games. Its okay to be a Lin fan but lets be realistic here.

Yeah, I probably should've hedged my bets there. But I do believe that Lin, in the limited time we've seen him play, has shown that at worst he's at least as good as Felton.

Lin at his worst (1-13 with 8 turnovers vs Miami Heat) would have taken an immediate back seat to Felton.
