Knicks · Every Knicks Trade starting with Patrick Ewing (page 2)

Don't forget that instead of just buying picks to get Lee isiah took on Malik rose and 25MM over three years. Similiar to overpaying Crawford and taking 21MM in salary for JRD.

Anytime anyone ever rants or speaks ill about this franchise just take a look above before calling them a hater. Literally lost just about every trade for almost 10 years

I seem to recall that KVH and Doleac worked well with Marbury on the drive kick and pop for a short run. Did not understand the Tim Thomas trade at all. IMO the worst of the all was the Dice trade.

I was ok dealing Ewing for Vin Baker and Glen Rice as the main pieces because i thought we were getting good value back. Then we only got Rice and then of course traded him in a package for Anderson and Eisley. Ewing turning into Anderson and Eisley is a disaster. Turning Sprewell into Van Horn then into Tim Thomas was another disaster. Hopefully these pattarns change now that we have a good core in place again. I compare Melo, Stoudemire, and Chandler to the Camby, Sprewell, Houston combo from ten years ago. I hope we can get them playing together and healthy and don't have to continue the trend of downgrading our core players. Hopefully if these players really becomes a deep playoff team the next 3 years we can remain loyal to them and infuse young talent in other ways similar to the way Boston has done it. We have Shumpert to start with.

Unfortunately once we did get Vin Baker, he was a drunk couldn't ball anymore. Another fuked up IT move.

Wasn't Eisley and Anderson on Layden's watch. I am pretty sure he is the one to blame for those two and Clarence Witherspoon as well.
Could not agree more about Anderson not being able to hit the broadside of barn. I remember that playoff series against the Nets when they would simply double Marbury and dare Anerson to shoot.

Also, those "future" considerations" in that Eisley/Anderson trade with the Rockets was.........Jeremy Lin.

your right, but those two manning what the 1 and 2 (arguable the most important positions at the time) were just putrid. Eddy sucked but he wasn't packeged with another bum player. These two came as a package and made everybody worse.

They couldn't guard anyone (shannon was supposed to be a good defender) which put extra pressure on our big who weren't shot blockers to begin with. Shannons (can't hit the broadside of a barn) lack of jump shot (being a 2/3) meant there was little floor spacing

Correct. All moves until December of 2003 were Scott Layden's. Clarence Weatherspoon is actually one of Isiah's first moves. I despised Shandon Anderson and Howard Eisley the second they stepped foot off the airplane. The move had Scott Layden's mormon Utah stench all over it.

7/23/2003: Knicks acquire Keith Van Horn in exchange for Latrell Sprewell (part of a four-team deal)

Also, strangely, it looks like the Marbury trade was actually a steal considering the only real good asset we gave up was Gordon Hayward 6 years in the future. Ironic.

In my drunken state back then I already knew that Novak was going to be awesome!

Great rant! Fixed.

To me the Ewing trade was the worst because of all the garbage and bad contracts they got back in return , all they had to do was let Ewing and his 14 million dollar salary expire, Eisley and Shandon Anderson was a close second , they were both role players who came off the bench of a great Utah team so they were never exposed until they got to NY , I don't know what Layden was thinking smdh.

+1

KVH and Doleac did play well with Marbury until they were traded away. Marbury was still coachable back then as well. Isiah couldn't leave well enough alone.
